end of...august?!? thats kind of ridiculous, i mean the song will be way out of the charts by then probably, it certainly wont be top 20 or so, so why would they do the video then. they really should do it soon, because the dip is beginning to happen, and a new video would increase attention again. if august is the case, when are they going to release other singles? there's only so much time you can wait for it to still be popular. i think part of the reason thats part of the reason they tend to only have two big songs per album, they wait to long to release the third. talk video wasnt too late, but hardest part was just way way way too late.

yeah seriously, i dont think ive ever seen anything look that good. its pretty damn awesome. although wayyyy too big for computer screen, so i would need to probably crop the top half off

im 17 and I started listening to them when I was 12 in 2002. i dont feel like a vet on this forum lol, but i certainly do now in terms of liking the band. hopefully coldplay's around for a long time so i can say i was there in the beginning when theyre making albums in 15 years

it seems like an analogy to some more personal things really. i dont think chris was really making any direct connection to historical events. i mean its about a random king who is now just an ordinary citizen in the most basic sense, and thats not a historical accuracy. i think it seems to be more related to chris and the bands journey, they were on the top of the world, kings, and they realized being king isnt so great. i think thats really the gist of the song.

yeah im still building up a catolog of favorites, but this is at the top. i mean, its got everything you could really want - different emotions really. im really objective no matter who it is. i mean, i know when im telling myself to like a song and when i actually like it. im not telling myself to like any of these songs. see the best part is that without coldplay maybe i dont listen to yes or 42 (if i hear the middle clip lol), but i did. my musical palette is broadening with time, or maybe rather its focusing in depending on perspectives, but this album has made me redefine what i listen to. i dont want to seem like im conflicting in my views. what im saying is i wouldn't dislike 42 or yes if i heard them not knowing they were coldplay, i just wouldn't listen because "oh i don't usually listen to music like that". coldplay (and a host of other bands ive been listening to recently) are changing what i consider good music. i think its kind of clear that if you're not a boozing, drug addicted and suicidal band, that the music media is not going to like you. they like people who look like they could self-destruct any moment, and coldplay isnt that band. you also need to be extremely arrogant and think your music is amazing, like one of my favorite bands Radiohead (but still, Thom Yorke, you're a little pretentious). i love the band and there music, but they need to get off their pedestal. coldplay was never going to be a band like this. they dont feign arrogance, they openly talk about how crap they can be. also, chris martin married gywneth, and she seems like an extremely nice person. coldplay = no drama. media <3 drama thats basically the answer

VLV or DAAHF my favorite album...ever Okay, so I am usually a song by song type of guy. I don't usually "appreciate" albums, but rather a few songs within each one. There are definitely albums I look at as amazing. Some that really have no holes. But I have now reached the stage where I have left Coldplay to listen to other music for a time (:o i know sacrelige), and I cannot shake the feeling that Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends is the best album I have ever listened to. I'd say A Rush of Blood to the Head is pretty damn close, but the connection I feel towards this album is almost uncanny. The thoughts, themes and feelings emenating from this album just continue to hit me and blow my mind. Lets just say I'm pretty happy Coldplay made this.

its just got to be a story for me...akin to the scientist. i mean this is the most blantantly story telling coldplay song there is. when i finally got the lyrics i had all these images rushing through my heads. i mean, i know its not exactly cool to do a video where the lyrics directly eqaul what happens, but i kind of wish it happened that way. i imaged chris martin on the streets talking to some kid, sweeping them, and harkening back to the days when he was king. with great epic visuals for a great epic song.

i loved the acoustic version. it took sometime for the regular version to grow on me, but it has to a degree. i still think acoustic is better, but i understand why its popular...its pretty normal lol. live it sounds great though. i mean, i love the song, like i do all the vlvodaahf, but id replace album with acoustic.

Musically this album does contrast frequently, but I think the theme's have never been more clear and ever present. I have no problem with the changes though. I feel like I'm on a musical rollercoaster, and I mean that in a good way. The album is one ride in my opinion, its just not straightforward.

Okay, so I'm in this kind of in between area in terms of height. I never know whether to buy large shirts or XL ones on online stores. I was wondering if anyone knew how the sizing was on their official store? I've looked around for a sizing chart, but I can't find one anywhere. If any of you have bought from the new store, can you tell me what sizes you got and the fit. I'm about 6'1", and weight isn't an issue, so that said...anyone have any input on size?

i would say it is WAY WAY to early say what is most true to or defining Coldplay. Most bands only have one album, but the best bands always have a handful that define them at different points in time, and I think Coldplay is one of those bands (and i assume you all agree). That being said I think Parachutes will always be a fan favorite, but it won't be what everyone considers their defining album. And by fan favorite I don't mean the favorite, I simply mean the only place it will get proper cred is in forums like these. AROBTTH is what introduced them to the world as a great band. it was my introduction for them. because of this i will never forget it when they're ten albums deep and masters of the universe. X & Y will be the album in my opinion that kind of cemented them as biggest band in the world, but for all the wrong reasons. now while their newest effort still isn't getting the greatest reviews, I think its generally agreed that it is loads better than X & Y. But without X & Y the new one wouldn't be selling like it is. Viva la Vida or Death and all his Friends kind of blew me away though. It is, in my estimation, not yet defining though, because we have yet to see where they go next. Hindsight is twenty twenty, and it will allow us to see if this album can be defining. Like I said, six more albums (lets hope that happens lol) and who knows what defines Coldplay. But I think it's going to be different for everyone. The consensus though, I imagine from the first four, is that AROBTTH and VLV or DAAHF will be the one's the best define them becoming great. Parachutes and X & Y were really springboards for everything that happened after them. Fans will appreciate this fact, but I imagine few others will.

yeah i noticed this too...i like'd how they reacted though, they thought it was funny as opposed to getting pissed about it, which i thought was very a stand up way to act about it. when chris made the joke it was even funnier. that lady must have felt retarded, because you know when the blonde called him by his actual name, the other had to have gone...oh shit. the bands great about shit like this though...absolutely no ego. you cant help but love a band thats this great but are so down to earth.

holy shit that was fucking amazing! wow, i was blown away by that. seriously i know coldplay is great live, but like that in such a small confined place...wow. all that work they've done since the mtv awards has obviously paid off BIG TIME. does this mean 42 and lost! could be the next singles...i know lovers in japan is supposed to be, so maybe not 42 which seems a little too different for maintstream pop audiences. but yeah...GREAT JOB COLDPLAY. everything was great, they really hit a stride there. great great job.

for me ratatoiulle is what im currently feeling. it such a simple and pure story. but then again, most of their stories are. really picking between all these is extremely hard, but i can say my least favorites are cars most definitely and a bugs life after that. every other movie is amazing. its like trying to pick which is more perfect.

I totally agree about liking it when the sound was very simple, but I love the new stuff too. If anything, I would look at a few examples as reason for you to not think this old sound is gone for good. U2, one of my favorite bands, came out with All that You Can't Leave Behind in 2000. They had been going for just over twenty years, they'd changed their styles many times, but that was the most mellow album they made. I don't think Coldplay is going to abandon their roots, but it makes sense in my book for them to expand and change themselves, so that they can show off their chops. I have no doubt we'll get more of the Parachutes style Coldplay in the future. For now though I'm more than content with Viva la Vida.
