The U2 Slane show was....how to put it...MIND BLOWING! I am so happy they released it on DVD because they caught their best show ever on DVD. The raw intensity in that show was brilliant. Especially During Kite, Streets and Walk On...actually to think of it the entire show. That show has helped me win over many nay sayers. Line 6 is good for pedals and racks. Amps aren't as good though. Not for a nice clean sound you can get through a Fender or a Vox. They are more meaty and fat. Also the more you spend the better you get. Their stompsboxs aren't on par with Boss quality. But once you get into the Units, they are great. Their guitars can also be great. Strats are great guitars. They are more of an American bluesy guitar though, when looking for a British Rock sound, look to the Tele's. I am going to get myself a nice '72 Thinline Tele before Xmas. Then my guitar set up will be pretty much set for variety. ColdplayBirdsFly You got the right dreams. I suggest if you like pedals maybe pick up a Boss multi-effect unit. They are well worth the price you pay. You get An insane amount of pretty quality effects. Thinline is the way to go. You also said you live in a fairly small place...so you may want to think twice about a Tube amp since they can belt very very loudly. I just recently bought a Fender Frontman 212 and its amazing. Plus its a little bit cheaper than a Hot Rod Devell. Its also great for stage preformances too since it can belt loudly too. Those are a few suggestions to save you a bit of $ and still get great quality. Unfortunately I have no suggestion as to a cheaper Thinline...pay the $700 to get it.

That guitar is amazing. Too bad its Bono's :P It needs someone who can play it! Seriously though Kite is one of U2s best songs from the last 10 years. Mainstream misses so much good music! Line 6 is okay. I wouldn't buy Line 6 again.

'Lost' third single due on 8th september ?
With singles its all about marketability. Speed Of Sound was instant #2 :P Fix You didnt get close to 1. Which was better? Fix You without a doubt. Coldplay gave us a !1-2 punch back in May/June. VLV skyrocketed because strings and Jerusalem Bells aren't in. Its a different sound but basic rock chords. I personally hate the album version of Lost! Its an amazing amazing song. The acoustic is far better, up there with Scientist for ballads by Coldplay. LiJ is a great song. It defines radio friendly. Live its amazing as well. The 4 singles have been mentioned. Hope for an EP in the winter, get ready for No Line On The Horizon.

Could it have been a LOUDER concert?
It wasnt as loud as I expected too. Granted my show was outdoor. But Jay-Z was amazingly loud, as well as Death Cab. I wasnt too far out either. There were technical issues with the sound board the entire night though.

I'd love a VG. Those are brilliant guitars. I changed my LP pickups because Im a poor student who bought an Epi off a friend. I put in EMG actives and it sounds 10000000000x better than stock Epiphone hummbuckers.

I dont mind artist models. Im not a huge fan of them. I'd Much rather buy a guitar and make it my own. Like with my Les Paul, Im gonna put some custom pickups in it. I'd love to have a signature Buckland guitar, but I would like to develop my own sound over time. But Jon and The Edges sound will influence me. I know Im getting confusing here. It all depends on the model and your playing style. Oh and your wallet.

I never heard of their studio flooding. Never know though. I know he has 3 prized guitars. His first Explorer, his first Les Paul and Strat. He sold his LP for charity. The location where that pic was taken is no longer there anymore. Dublin demolished the HQ. U2 are now building a tower with a studio.

Jon is slowly becoming more complex. The VLV rig isnt simple by any means as stated above. Edge has a lot of duplicates in his collection. Since U2 sometimes send ahead guitars to save time. As well he uses on average 12 guitars a night. Edge is a tone freak. Anyone who knows guitars know that every guitar hold a different sound. He probably has a pedal to match every guitar too.

Apparently he got new pedals for the new album too. I pondered what is new to him? His rack grows like a plant or a human. People think Jon's setup is complicated. Edge still uses his original Vox amps though. Those are pretty key to his sound. And the Bennie, his talent lives in that thing :P One day I'll have a huge rig.....hopefully. And like 42 guitars....on tour. I'd love to see hsi guitar room at home....

Im not too knowlageable in effects. So I'll have them all!

Thats why Im on the fence. I also do not like tap delay. I want a MS input, since my timing is poor and i like more elaborate timing for delay. So right now Im pondering the DL4 and DD-20. DL4 is proven DD-20 has serious potential. What delay do you guys use, or hear is good.

I do love the Fender Amps. So for delay Im looking into as I said above a DD-7 which has evolved into a DD-20, or the Line 6 Jonny uses. Which would be the best? I intend to play with both of them. I want something that'll last me years to come.

I have a Boss MT-2. I didnt like it before my new amp. Now it sounds very mean...but thats about it, you cant really get a grunge type distortion. Im likely gonna look into more down the road. 6 Violins eh? Violins are your guitar i guess. HArder to play too. Kudos to you!

The Year of Changes in Direction.
No Line On The Horizon (U2s new one (possible title)) will blow Viva La Vida out of the water. It'll be different than Viva though as it'll have that classic U2 sound, other than the classic Coldplay sound. Another reason why I know it'll be better in its own right: Daniel Lanois is in the sessions as well. He is Enos other half. They are the dynamic producing duo of the world. Those two on your album = Instant classic look at the thre U2 discs they did. All Top 500 all time. The next few year will be fun for sure though. Im holding on for an amazing ride. Any music fan will love it. The late 2000s will go down in history. I know it.

Your developed feeling about VLVODAAHF
Ive loved the album since day 1. Since first run through the night of the leak in bed in the dark with headphones (the best way to listen to music in my opinion) I have loved it. I didn't like most songs at first, I always waited for the big Duo(VLV and VH) to come. I felt it was a strong album and a huge step in the right direction for them. I did have issues with it. Like every album. Over time though, it has grown on me. When Chris said this is an album meant to be listened from LiT to Escapist, I didnt see it at first. Now, now I do. I constantly listen to this album through. Its the best way to experience it. I know at first I wanted the song to end because of the anxiousness of wanting to hear more new stuff. Now it has set in and is perfect. The first and perhaps biggest issue going into Viva La Vida was length roughly 45ish minutes seemed to short to most. We all were skeptical about the run time. Now the idea that the shorter the sweeter seems brilliant to me. For many reasons, mainly the one where this album needs to be listened to through and through tracks 1-10. It feels so much better this way too. When I look at this album I see its 45ish minutes of solid solid music. No filler, each and every song is strong enough to hold its own on a singles chart. Some could argue there is some filler. But not as much as their last 3 efforts. Or most efforts by other bands lately. The music is strong and I feel if they added more music it could have come out as filler. Some bands favorite songs are filler. So short is sweet. Its clear they pushed their comfort level for this one to. Which Coldplay needed, we all heard the singles and though: "Yes, this is Coldplay, but its not" They built in a new sound with their own signature sound. Which is a major step to developing in the music world. They need to develop a sound of their own while creating new sounds. Or you get a band like Nickelback or any post grunge band. Till now Coldplay were like that too. I also see this album as a preview for 2 new albums Coldplays LP 5 and U2 LP 14. Im going to use the ever lasting Coldplay/U2 comparison. U2 had 3 good first albums, all roughly the same sound. They then enlisted Eno and Lanois and BAM Unforgettable Fire, which was a great album, underrated. Three years later The Joshua Tree drops. Unforgettable was a preview for it. Coldplays 5th LP will be the end all tell all. U2s new album is out in November and Eno was involved and we know its new and different much like Viva was...So I only expect U2 to knock it out of the park much like Coldplay! All in all Eno is a god and responsible for Viva La Vida. He helped Coldplay do all the things to make the album great!

Liam Gallagher still hates Coldplay...or their fans
What does my country have anything to do with it? I listen mostly to British music. Oasis have past their prime. There is a reason Jay-Z got invited to Glastonbury and not Oasis. Jay still has it Oasis doesn't. No matter what Oasis' new album will not be as good as Viva La Vida. I know this because Oasis wont push their comfort zone and aren't as committed to the music. Chris Martin is a true musician, he is willing to do anything to make better music. He left his family to make his music better. Liam will never leave the bottle. The argument needs to be less Coldplay vs. Oasis, its more Liam vs. The World.

Doesn't he have two Viva Tele's? I kinda want to paint my plain old boring Strat(Black with a white pickguard maple neck) now too. Haven't figured out what yet. Ive always wanted to paint a Gold Joshua Tree on it.

Liam Gallagher still hates Coldplay...or their fans
Oasis is no longer relevant. Liam has never been good for anything. Fighting with Noel(clearly the more talented of the two), showing up to shows drunk, and trying to be John Lennon and failing miserably. Those are all he is good at. Viva La Vida is easily one of the Best albums of they year. The award nominations are gonna be there. Some have already been etched. In the next two months 1 more album is set to come out to be as good. Guess what its a Metal album! Noel should have left Liam in a pool of his own selfishness ages ago, blood is thicker than water i guess.

Festivals.....
Pemberton was not mediocre! It was a new festival that will grow in the years to come. It has major issues. Coldplay played it because the co-produced it, or else they would have played two stadium dates in Vancouver. As well Pemberton fit right into their tour schedule, kicked off what was supposed to be a Canadian Tour, but instead canceled a few shows to add some elsewhere. I'd Rather see Coldplay in an arena/stadium than a festival again.

Wait Wait Wait...... He uses Teles? Why didnt someone tell me!!!! The guy on the corner told me he player a fence post with no strings..........Why was I not informed. Okay yeah that wasnt funny. My strat works pretty good to recreate Jonnys tones. I just need a delay pedal, Gonna test out the Boss DD-7 and the Line 6 John uses. I can get a great CSC sound out of built in echo and my distortion though.

I just picked up a Fender Frontman 212 DSP. Good price and a good sound. I can get it to go pretty loud. It rocks with distortion. Im gonna play around for awhile. Onboard effects aren't to great, but i like pedals better anyways. I like Vox's but Fender just seemed better sound for a better price. Its a good amp that'll last me for awhile till i look to get a stack.

This song live....
This song should open the show. I see LiT and CoL as one song. Violet hill should be later on. They need this song live! Its The BEST ONE!

Hey guys. I have a few good guitars now, but a fairly poor amp. Im looking to buy a new one here. I was wondering what type Jonny uses and what would be the economic choice for a guy starting out his stage show just now?
