  1. All labels have been in financial trouble as of late because of the internet. Labels make all their money off hard copy sales. Where the bands make money off of tours and t-shirts. Coldplay only make about $2 per album sold. EMI is sunk because their other major act left...Radiohead. Coldplay is their last A-list act. Once they leave EMI is done and will be bought out by Universal or another Big 6 Company. Another reason labels are so sunk is because anyone with a laptop can now record. Myspace bands are taking over the world.
  2. I loved this song since the Greys leak. After downloading I knew there was something else...I was expecting a slow Fix You/Amsterdamn build up. Then out of no where comes into its own and blows me away! The Best!
  3. I'd love to know this too. But I think its gonna be hard to see for a little while. Well need a camera on stage to get it. By the sounds of it he only got a few new distortion settings, and something with MIDI for the Yes solo.
  4. Edge is exactly the same. All his pedals and effects are in a giant rack behind him on stage, and he uses his box for all the songs, which are all preset into the box. I'll post picks up soon.
  5. It sounds a bit flat. Sorry guys not Fuck. Any musician knows what that mean.
  6. Agreed. Death And All OF His Friends, Yes/Chinese Sleep Chant, Lovers In Japan, Centemeters Of London and Viva La Vida are the best. No worst.
  7. 320 KBs
  8. Thats exactly what it is. A Multi effect switch board. It is very similar to The Edges rig....only his is way way more complicated.
  9. t8thgr8 I agree 100% they sought after Eno for a reason, cause he helped put U2 in the history books next to bands Like The Beatles, Stones as well as guys like Dylan and Hendrix. I think Eno and Lanois are unofficial members of U2 cause and thats when they are the best all 6 of them. With Viva La Vida Coldplay are trying to initiate a change to a new place. LP5 from Coldplay will be the one to go down in history. I still think Unforgettable Fire will be better than Viva La Vida for one reason...Bad. Bad is by fart the Best to ever ever come out of U2, it showcases Bono's lyrical power, and Edges perfection of his legendary echo sound. Listen to it then tell me how many notes are actually played and how many are delays and echo's...its U2s perfect song. Bono has way more passion than Martin. The only song i every really see Martin really into is Politik and thats why I think I love it so much. Bono had it from day one, from The Electric Co. to I Will Follow he had intensity no doubt about that. I agree that these guys from 17 had pure raw talent that was refined into superstardom over the years. You got 4 very very talented men in the band. Even though you never hear about Larry or Adam they are the backbone of the band like any rhythm section is. I will now say it again, Sunday Bloody Sunday was not even close to the best thing to come between 1978 - 1984. The Fly and the entire Zoo TV Tour was pure brilliance. Coldplay will never top. IT was all because of Rattle and Hum too, poking fun at themselves. The U2 during the 90s was just as if not better than the 70s and 80s U2. Live these guys trample Coldplay. Someone said to Youtube different versions of Streets, here is the best one ever recorded. Watch that and tell me that U2 have no intensity and passion what soever. Then tell me Bono cant sing. Story behind that performance is it was preformed a week after Bonos dads funeral and the opening is all for him and those words he sayds before it kicks off is "Its for Paul(his dad) I sing this song for him, I sing this song for him YOUUUUUUUUUUU" That entire concert at Slane was amazing and moving full of raw passion and intensity. Last performance before the events of 9/11 as well. We will see how Coldplay emerges through the years. Im sorry to say though, but I doubt they will ever reach U2 stardom and power.
  10. It was the Sun. It usually isnt the editors that post up the leak. Its usually a mail room clerk who is passing the CD on who uploads it on his laptop quickly then posts it up. I hope it happens soon too. And yeah Alan the guy who basically run Canada's mainstream rock stations not getting it is shocking.
  11. U2s album is gonna rock. There has been minor leakage and it sounds amazing! Take a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vnsVoPSzgQ&hl=en THis is from Lanois film Here Is What Is(title may be wrong. It shows Eno and Lanois discussing their history together and with U2. The 2 of the 3 albums those 2 worked on are in the top 100 on RS list, and the other one Eno worked on is in the top 500. To see these 6 back together means something amazing is gonna happen. This may be U2s last huge album. Who knows? All I know is this album will go down as U2s 3rd Classic album. Im not gonna go into detail but it will be kinda like Viva La Vida in the fact its different from the norm. Thats why Im batshit excited.
  12. Yeah it would have be really cool to pick his brain for a few minutes. I know hes a coldplay fan and he's a real inspiration. I cant imagine all the people going there. I think EMI is actually being smart to prevent leaks by not send out CDs. These parties cut back on the leak time.
  13. Some U2 is like AROBTTH and X&Y, but not really at the same time. I'd find it very hard doing song by song comparisons. They are indeed very very different, and both very very awesome. I have been waiting for both the U2 and Coldplay discs for 3 years. When i heard Eno was with Coldplay i was excited. When I heard Eno and Lanois rejoining U2 in Morocco I just went through the roof. Finally they rejoined their band! I have to say Im looking forward to U2 slightly more cause they have heavy expectations at this point.
  14. http://www.ongoinghistory.com/station/blog_ongoing_history_of_new_music.cfm Maybe it sounds so similar because they think the same stuff. He probably found quotes elsewhere. Like Q. It sounds like he was at a listening party exactly like andrew.
  15. No Problems. That was Alan at the end of the video saying hes getting charged and that he'll see his wife in 5-7.
  16. Coldplay were in Toronto and he insisted on fitting too many people in the studio and thousands showed up and they had to close one of the busiest streets in Toronto during mid day rush hour.
  17. The New Coldplay Album, Track by Track The album won't be out until June 17, but information is beginning to surface. I had a chance to listen to the full album on Friday. I was escorted into a screening room at a private club in downtown Toronto. Before I could set foot inside, I had to surrender by cell phone and a burly security guarded wanded me with a metal detector. It was like a Condition Red day at the airport. Here's what I can report about Viva la Vida. --Despite what you may have heard, the album IS called "Viva La Vida and Death to All His Friends." Chances are, though, we'll just go with "Viva La Vida" (which, roughly translated, means "long live life." --The album clocks in at 46 minutes, not too long or too short. Chris Martin wanted it to be the length of a typical episode of CSI, allegedly. --Brian Eno's fingerprints are all over this one. There are so many new un-Coldplay-like sounds (i.e. atmospheric guitar/keyboard interplays that result in a sonic stew thicker than the Athabasca tar sands--but that's a good thing.) To me, it sounds like he did to Coldplay what he did to U2 for The Unforgettable Fire. --Coldplay has a new HQ: The Bakery (a former, er, bakery) someplace deep in North London. --On the whole, it sounds like Coldplay. Only different. 1. "Life in Technicolor" A glorious, uplifting instrumental. Apparently, there were lyrics, but Chris Martin decided to remove them. He wanted something "whistle-able," apparently. 2. "Cemeteries of London" A ghost story written during a manic overnight session by Martin when Eno's assistant, Markus Dravs, dissed another song Martin had written. He came up with this track to show Markus that he could do it. There's a little touch of Flamenco in the mix. Listen for the hand claps. 3. "Lost" Big organ swells. Drama ensues. And yes, part of it was recorded in a church. I quite liked this one. 4. "42" Another reference to "Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy?" (If you don't know what I mean by that, you need to read more.) Martin is coy about the connection other than to say "it's my favorite number. This is a massive three-parter that goes on for some time. Martin considers it one of the "two John Lennon-type" songs on the album, the other being "Violet Hill." Chris Martin says that the middle bit of this song was inspired by listening to Rammstein records over and over again. But don't get your hopes up; there's no metal here. 5. "Big Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love" Typical Coldplay indie-pop. Why smush two songs together? Apparently to keep the number of tracks on the album to ten. But it doesn't quite work that way (See tracks7b and 10b.) 6. "Viva la Vida" "Cinematic" is a word that's being used. "Widescreen" is another. Basically, it's a story of a dude (a king?) who loses everything. You may have already heard this one because it was accidentally leaked through iTunes a couple of weeks ago. 7a. "Yes" You've never heard Chris sing this low before. Very mournful. And are those African tabla drums in the mix? Why, yes they are! 7b. "Chinese Sleep Chant" I've numbered this as 7b because it's a hidden track. Totally incomprehensible. And no, no one is singing in Latin. 8. "Violet Hill" You stick the first single this deep on the album? Ballsy. By the way, Violet Hill is in the St. John's Wood area of northwest London, the same area of the city as Abbey Road Studios. 9. "Strawberry Swing" Now THAT'S an interesting bass line. Or is that a digerdoo? I can't tell. 10a. "Death and All His Friends" Very melancholy with a male choir. The vocals were apparently recorded in an art gallery in Barcelona, Spain. That room was once the medical area of an ancient nunnery. Of course. 10b. "The Escapist" Another hidden track that was, er, donated by John Hopkins, a friend of producer Brian Eno. It sounded to me a lot like the opening track, except with vocals. I think this record will be another hit. It had better be; the entire future of Coldplay's record company may very well rely on the kinds of numbers it generates. Alan Cross is a radio programmer for Toronto's 102.1 The Edge. 18. Coldplay are not U2. They are bothe very very good in their own respects. Im a huge Coldplay and U2 fan so here is an clean opinion here. U2 are and always will be a live band. Bono does not have the talent Martin has for music, not for one second. Martin has a far far stronger voice cause I dont think Martin has hit his prime yet, where Bono did in 1987 on the Joshua Tree. Bonos voice on that album was amazing and deep, something Martin has been burned for so far for this album as trying to impersonate. Martin can also play the piano like a god, where Bono cant, and Bono cant play the guitar well either. Martin win the overall talent pool. What Bono has over Martin though is live, Bono can connect with someone in row 1 or against the back wall. U2 live trump Coldplay. U2s stage designs are just brilliant and Bono can break that barrier of audience a stage very well. Their music live is also way better. Someone said U2 only had 1 good song off their first 3 LPs, go get U2s "Under A Blood Red Sky" that will change your mind. Also as much as I love Buckland, The Edge is easily a way more talented guitar player, who Buckland does draw A LOT of influence from. I hate to say it but the reason Coldplay is often called U2 Jr. is because of Bucklands clean delay driven guitar. Which Edge has been the master of since the opening notes of Streets. If you dont believe me on it, simply google "Edges Guitar set up" then Bucklands. I guarantee Edge is far more complicated. Then a lot of you buckland supporters are gonna say Edge uses a lot of effects. Well youre right, and thats why he is so brilliant he masters the effects he gets. Some of which Buckland has draw influence from. Rythm section...its a fair draw, mind you Guy is way better looking than Adam. The one thing we all have to remember though is that these two bands are very different. U2 are elders here so by default they are compared. They are both amazing in my opinion. Another side note, as much as I hate to say it, U2s new disc in the fall has already been making a ton of noise. Expect it to heat up after Viva Dies down and out sell Viva.
  19. Bryan Adams in 2006 The Police in 2007...Saw them open their world tour. Most surreal moment of my life. Did i meantion 1st row....? Foo Fighters in March...5th row kicked ass I may be going to Pemberton Fest here in Vancouver to see Coldplay.
  20. This will be there best all around album to date. I think AROBTTH will be there memorable one though, for one reason only...The Scientist. This album is gonna be their best no doubt. All though you'll see a huge storm rise come October when U2s LP15 drops. Now im gonna bring in comparison, I think we are gonna have to wait for LP 5 to see how good they actually are. Just like with U2 Unforgettable Fire, was amazing but Joshua Tree has gone down in history. U2s new album is my most anticipated.
  21. It will be fully leaked in its entirety at 320 kbs this week. Its an inevitability. So buckle down and check here and torrent site every 12 hours or so. Its what Ive been doing.
  22. Im sure you can tell from my name Im a U2 fan. As well as a Coldplay fan; why else would i be here? Coldplay aren't the new U2. Even with the famed producer they aren't a new U2. U2 has been known for pushing musical differences getting that new different sound, and their ever changing sound. Coldplay is a ballad driven soft rock band, and they are now trying to change it up a bit, pulling a U2 pretty much. I have to say though even when Coldplay try to rock it out it turns into a ballad. Ala Violet Hill...tries to be a edgy rock track but it turns into a powerful ballad. Viva La Vida is a powerful ballad as well as Lost? I agree right now its way to early to tell. I have a feeling though that Viva La Vida will be far different than anything U2 has ever produced. the only thing similar is gonna be both their albums will have a different sound from the generic rock sound. Which is why the world needs to eat more chocolate, got to maketradefair.com and listen to more Coldplay and U2. I also have to say though I am looking more forward to October/November for the new U2 disc and tour, slightly more than VLV...But they are top 2 this year by far!
  23. I think they will Open with Politik as always then VH for the arena shows. But i think they might pull a Vertigo and open And close with VH...
  24. They are announcing they are playing a Vancouver gig! Sorry Im bitter about them skipping Van City. I could see them announcing that the album will have a "by donation" download option and it will be up on June 11th. (First International release date) Although that could be hard cause of EMI and all that Jazz...As well as the digital album experience. Or maybe they'll pull a Reznor and drop an entire album of the B-sides...that would be a good appy to the album and kick ass too. I can also see them announcing yet another free gig somewhere on the west coast of N.A. or in Japan/Australia. The last thing i can see is them posting up a VLA video and announcing a hard copy with a few B-Sides. So many possibilities that I myself would be happy with.
  25. I am no longer excited about this headline, why? Well because of this they have omited a Vancouver date. Which infuriates me greatly. Why? here is a few reasons: The festival will cost a good $400 for tickets, accomidations and food for the weekend, as well as travel time to Pemberton from Vancouver it adds up! another reason is Im a minor so Im not allowed on the festival ground or a ride to Pemberton, which i would gladly spend the money on. As amazing as festivals are, an Arena rock show is much much better in my opinion. Plus it is way easier for most people. I am disappointed Coldplay looked over the best audience in Canada and probably a strong strong contender for the best in the world. I know they'll add a date on a later leg, they have to!
