  1. I have to say its been the acoustic version "lost?" for me, as far as the album goes. But live the song is great!!! I really think the guitar comes through in a much more rocking way, and I like how Will's regular drum kit shines through a bit more. On the CD I think it just sounds like a little much for me, and as I mentioned above I don't hear enough of the other instruments over the drum beat.
  2. I like his review that was really funny. I even agree about the drum machines, I've only seen the songs live on TV but it bothered my even then. Though to be honest I didn't care for some of the fake sounding drum beats on the record so its not really surprising that I wouldn't like it live.
  3. I think I could die happy tomorrow if they recorded ladder to the sun. Anyway back to the topic at hand, I'm all for getting the leftovers, as long as its really looked at as a leftover thing, I mean I cant imagine them giving it the full new album treatment. I think they would collapse from exhaustion. And I wonder how long that means we would be waiting for actual new new stuff.

I hate the media. I'm a fan of a lot of bands and I have never seen them go after anyone as relentlessly. This band just cant win, I mean they just got done complaining that coldplay do to many simple ballads and now their saying they should play their old stuff more because thats what they excel at?? You cant have it both ways! The jury is still out for me on whether I like this record as much as the previous but at this point it really looks like the world of the press is ready to hate them no matter what they do.
  5. most: 42/ Viva La Vida least: Death and All His Friends.
  6. I agree about the chart thing. Its interesting to me because even now they get little to know airplay in my home town, but their huge. I really think they just put out such solid albums that people don't even bother with singles and just go straight for the whole thing. And thats rare, I cant tell you the last time I found a group that put out such brilliant albums, not just crap filler with 2 or 3 sugary sweet songs.
  7. AROBTTH. Without a doubt for me the defining moment of this bands career to this day. I like the new record a lot, but its still for me not quite on par.
  8. yeah that whole interview looked like a fiasco. I hate when the host of a show attempts to behave as if they already know something about whoever their interviewing. If your not into the band that fine but to act like your knowledgeable about the record etc and then totally mess up something as basic as their names just looks stupid.
  9. Wow I just spent the last hour and 1/2 going through this thread. You guys are awesome for sharing your experiences with everyone! And the pictures...wow!
  10. Best performance I've seen by them on TV this time around, hands down. And Lost live is just awesome, I like it so much better than the album version. Makes me so excited for tour.
  11. I remember I liked yellow, but for me it was a 30 second clip of trouble on amazon, and I just knew that I had to own the record.
  12. I agree Guy's base is not prominent enough on a few songs.
  13. violet hill viva la vida yes 42.... It'll never happen but thats what I'd like to see.
  14. yeah! Their good, I usually hate opening acts.
  15. overrated: fix you (but as its a band favorite what are you gonna do) underrated: a rush of blood to the head.
  16. I really dig chinese sleep chant, but the other two I could do without, especially the escapist. I think reign of love has potential but there are just too many sonic sounds covering the piano and Chris's vocal.
  17. At the end of the record the first critique my sister and I had was, we missed Chris's voice. A lot of songs flat out have less lyrics to sing, or they seem to be drowning him out purposefully with a wall of sound. I think he took critics to heart when they pined him as the worst thing to happen to their music, and it makes me a little sad. My favorite tracks are the ones you can hear him loud and clear.
  18. This is tentative, it always takes me along time to know how I feel about a coldplay album. My first impressions are generally not my lasting ones. But for now... Best to Worst Viva la Vida Violet Hill 42 life in Technicolor cemeteries of London yes Chinese sleep chant Lost! strawberry swing Reign of love death and all his friends the escapist
  19. I'm skipping "death and all his friends", and "lovers in japan".
  20. Viva la Vida, I'm actually not digging death and all his friends
  21. I really enjoyed this review, a nice well rounded opinion void of the low blows I'm used to. And in some respects I agree with his criticism, they've always had a way of saying or playing something that would seem simple at first glance, yet they manage to make it majestic. I hope they never lose that just to make some puffed up critic happy.
  22. I guess I kind of agree with both sides of the argument. I would prefer they wear normal clothes, and I never minded the all black, because they still looked pretty normal. But in my opinion the costumes do look a little corny and over the top. Like everyone else mentioned if it was just for videos I would be more than cool with it, but we all know thats not going to be the case. On the other side, they write some of the best music I've ever heard, and if looking at corny eccentric costumes is the price I have to pay to get it, than thats OK by me. Am I unfairly cutting them slack I wouldn't cut a normal 1/2 ass band....yep. Thats how good they are. This does give me pause about their future, I'll be honest. Costumes seem like the beginning of the end of their sanity (lets hope not) but I'm not going to worry about that right now, because what I've heard of the music sounds good, and thats good enough, I'm not going to borrow trouble. They seem pretty down to earth in all their interviews still. Lets hope it stays that way.
  23. Do we know for sure just exactly how many records their contracted to do? Chris keeps making it sound like they have a lot more than one to go...
  24. I really, really, really, hope this is true!
