  1. So great to see all this excitement about the POP edition! :) I also hope it will truly be collectible and limited: it always makes it more special to know we were amongst the first ones to grab it and will make a fantastic addition to other collectibles. I believe this is the first time Coldplay really gave us a package like this, am I wrong? It´s delightful! The notebooks/band diaries alone will be worth it I think! And I checked out some of David´s art and I like his style: can´t wait to see what he has done to illustrate Mylo Xyloto. Anyone else wrapping this to go under the Christmas Tree? Think opening this together on the same day throughout the world! :)
  2. I have nearly decided that I will be listening to the new songs live but only once! And frankly I did not like any of the new songs upon first listen live (only probably the chorus in Charlie Brown), so now I won´t be taking my first impression too seriously. Do you guys think both songs will be subdued/intimate?
  3. I never knew this! Thanks for sharing that piece of trivia! It shines more light into the mind of the great Will :) And yes I think he has full control over how HIS beats sound: I would not dare cross him hehe :)
  4. I would just enjoy the song if you like it and then worry about the direction later when MX has landed :)
  5. My point was simply answering your question about where the single was positively received, hence my mention of sales and reviews.... They are in the Paradise press thread. There are mixed reviews but also plenty of good reviews....
  6. There are lots of good reviews of Paradise all in all and the sales speak for themselves. A lot of people like the new material As for the Oracle, of course she is partial: she loves Coldplay! But the fact that she admitted POC did not sound that good live shows that she can show disappointment at something. That aside, I agree that it is an incredible opportunity to interact with the band and I for one am very grateful for that!

Coldplay - "Paradise" About.com Rating3.5 Star Rating Be the first to write a review By Bill Lamb, About.com Guide Coldplay - "Paradise" Even when Coldplay sound a bit like they are spinning their wheels musically, it can still have quite beautiful moments. The huge opening fanfare of "Paradise" is simply gorgeous. However, the rest of the song does not quite hold up. There are so many echoes here of other work by Coldplay that, just like the protagonist of the song longing for something better, we are left longing to hear other classic songs by the band. Pros Powerful instrumental opening Chorus that will stick in the mind Simple piano accompaniment to the verse Cons Does not stand out among the best of Coldplay's work Description Written by Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion, and Chris Martin Produced by Markus Dravs, Daniel Green and Rik Simpson Released September 2011 by Parlophone Guide Review - Coldplay - "Paradise" Are Coldplay starting to run out of a bit of creative steam? There are many things that are quite beautiful in the arrangement here from the string flourishes to the huge, atmospheric fanfare in the instrumental opening and simple piano figures underlining Chris Martin's opening vocals. However, lyrically, there is little more than a woman dreaming of a different, better world. The song is so simple in effect that it lacks the impact of the band's best work. Complaints aside, even this Coldplay song has some real power upon listening to it multiple times. The reference to a tear and a waterfall connects this song to the previous Mylo Xyloto single "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall." That leaves us wondering about the overall structure of the upcoming album and if there will be more weaving amongst the songs to pull them into a cohesive whole. Ultimately you are also likely to break down and sing along with the "oh-oh-ohs" and "Para-para-paradise" of the chorus. Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto album is clearly one of the most eagerly awaited of the fall. It is set for an October 24, 2011 release date. "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall" hit the top 10 at adult pop, rock, and alternative songs radio. It has also been a top 10 hit around the world. However, a true smash hit single from the project has yet to be unveiled. "Paradise" is worth hearing, but ultimately will likely lead you back to previous stellar work by the band.

Coldplay's 'Paradise' brings the drama over a slow-rolling beat by Ed Masley - Sept. 12, 2011 12:50 PM The Arizona Republic Coldplay dropped a second single from their much-anticipated follow-up to 2008's "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends" on BBC Radio 1 on Monday, Sept. 12. "Paradise" offers an exhilarating glimpse of where they may be headed on "Mylo Xyloto." The song eases in on a bed of melancholy orchestration, sounding like the prelude to another aching Coldplay ballad. Then, the speaker-rattling low-end kicks in with the kind of slow-rolling, ominous club beat Drake's been favoring these day. The effect is as massive and melodramatic as anything in Coldplay's catalog but decidedly different. And this is all before Chris Martin starts to sing - at which point, the production pulls back from the grandeur to drums and piano as Martin sets the tone with "When she was just a girl, she expected the world. But it flew away from her reach so she ran away in her sleep and dreamed of para-para-paradise." It's epic and contagious with a pretty melody and a sound that couldn't be more of the moment. Coming on the heels of "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall," it suggests another multiplatinum triumph for one of the few British to consistently conquer the U.S. market this millennium.
  10. I am not basing this on my being a friend of the band, clearly but there are more than a few clues! We have heard plenty of interviews where the band has told us that they look to Will for the ultimate advice and they have great respect for his opinion. Hell Chris is even afraid of him! :) Surely someone like that would not stand there saying anything if he were dissatisfied about something. An educated guess rather :)
  11. I meant you could sing over them or something like that :) But yeah hard to like this song if you prefer a more stripped-down style, I can see why it would sound confusing.
  12. Try and read what I wrote. I said they have been right 90% of the time in my experience so that is why I choose to follow them. It seems like a pretty sound judgement from my point of view as it based on past experience. Just because I trust my instincts, it does not make me any less smarter than you.
  13. Yeah Paradise felt like an old friend to me too, but at the same time super fresh. Not sure how they pull that off but they do!
  14. Maybe the live version will give it another twist and have you focus on other aspects than the ones you dislike. :)
  15. Yes perhaps but my initial instincts have been right 90% of the time so I´ll just go with them this time around too :)
  16. We heard a lot of MX and we know Paradise was representative of the album at least in part, so I think it´s fair enough to have opinions about what MX will sounds like. It´s not so far out :) I love the strings and arrangements in Paradise too and so glad someone else loves the story the lyrics tell!
  17. Dream: Yes me too! I want to know how the story ends..hopefully it ends well!
  18. There is another similar thread called Paradise is amazing :) You might wanna check it out!
  19. Thanks so much! I have a soft spot for the blue color as well so this cover is wonderful :)
  20. ^ Oh wow! That sucks so much! I am sad on your behalf :(
  21. Bless the irish! hehe
  22. It won´t be like Gaga´s (which I did like btw but it´s the same kind of song throughout). It will be much more varied. You will see. I got a good feeling about this ;)
  23. *LOOOOOL* Could this be because it can be seen in Germany maybe on TV? Worth finding out I guess
