Funny you should mention VIVA the song. I was actually thinking today that Paradise resembles Viva a lot (the ooh ooh chants, lush instrumentation, violins) , so very weird how it got such a different reaction. Go figure :) It surely can not only be because of the synths hehe

Mamgirl: I think it´s much better you get the CD from your local store if you want it on release date as I highly doubt you can get it shipped to arrive on 24th October. Alternatively you can opt for the vinyl (you get a poster too) and you get mp3 downloads on release date. Or you could just forget your spending habit for this time only and grab the POP edition :)

*LOL* I am starting to think this album might not leak after all...if they are good timing the shipping of the physical copies, it might at the very most leak the day before ;)

The likes of Major Minus and Moving To Mars are not very chart-friendly and I think we will have few more tracks just like that in MX.

Yes I have a feeling if we all were in the same room physically there would probably be much more respect shown...sometimes posting on the internet, you forget that the words you write actually can hurt the person reading them. You just don´t see their faces, so you don´t realize how hurtful it can get. As we are all fans (or at least have been) my hope is that we will all be able to share some enthusiasm for MX, more or less, so we can go back to what we do best: scream our joy for Coldplay music :)

You mean stripped down concerts where there are only the instruments playing without much fanfare I assume :) I love those concerts as well and have been to a lot of them, but also loving Coldplay new shows. You can just ignore the laser lights and close your eyes: hopefully you will still love what you hear :)

Sue: Surely you are not going to give up seeing them live because of those 4 songs? :) After all seeing them live is the chance we all get to hear most of their great catalogue. I hope you won´t miss out on this. :) We could all go to the concerts and just accept that there is going to be songs for everyone and every taste. After all, the very synths you called crap actually are very emotional to me, so we are all different but Coldplay catalogue, especially live, will always be so varied to be able to cater to both sides. Or at least that is my hope for all long-time fans

Yeah basically you like the stripped down version of Coldplay. think MX will have a few stripped down songs as they also said in interviews, so I am sure you will find something to like there. As for wanting them to make music we love and "good" music, unfortunately we all do and will always disagree on what falls in those categories :)

I don´t dispute your knowledge of such things as how much they play live. I just think they sound great overall and I enjoyed the Viva shows more than X & Y.

You might dislike that, but I do love the enthusiasm the shows have, together with how they care about little details, like painting instruments, clothes, etc. I have felt very much more involved with the show since Viva and am looking forward to more of that in the new tour.

But some of us agree :) A split is not always a bad thing. Either way, MX has stirred up a lot of people, in negative and positive ways

So at least you like some of the songs. Maybe within the overall context of the album, the songs will have more meaning to you once heard in the proper order. Emotional chords are something so personal it would be useless to argue about, but I do feel both ET and Paradise deal with very dark themes and hope in dire times (albeit the darkness is well hidden but the depth is there :)

Acoustic concerts? As in only acoustic instruments for the whole set? I highly doubt that will happen (unless they are recording an MTV unplugged I am not aware of). That said, I think we will have our share of acoustic moments throughout, so again a bit for everyone. I for one am looking forward to hearing Paradise of course and Every Tear live as it sounds awesome from the recordings I heard and Charlie Brown as well. All in all I think they are just getting better and better at playing live.

Nat: They have not caught you but you still somewhat liked most of the songs on MX then. Hopefully the album will win the disappointed fans over then. We will see

These are popular chords, but no I don´t think he actually made up the chords in Paradise. I think he had even less influence in MX than he did in Viva

Ok enlighten me. Do you mean Will hits the drums but no sound comes from the live drums and instead a pre-recorded drum sound is being played through the speakers?

Same question to you: Are you and the people you met disappointed about all MX material or just Every Tear and/or Paradise? I am really interested in understanding where the disappointment lies as I did not see a wildly negative reaction when CB or HLH were first played for instance
