  1. Yeah I think pop/hip-hop influence can definitely be called extreme for Coldplay :) They dare indeed :)
  2. Why? No real MXer would ever be able to choose :)
  3. Yes I did read the review and did predict MX would get some "not so happy" reviews, but there it is. Can´t please everyone I guess :)
  4. Yes I did read the review and did predict MX would get some "not so happy" reviews, but there it is. Can´t please everyone I guess :)
  5. From underneath the rubble, sing a rebel song. (Sorry I could not resist :)
  6. Chommy: Nothing wrong in not liking the song! Be proud: no matter what you like or do not like, as long as you are true to yourself and keep an open mind :)
  7. It is also annoying to be labelled a sell-out or not a real fan for liking the new material. Trust me :( I think that comments made without respect attract respect-less responses. As long as we all respect each other, there is room for any sentiment and who knows..we might even find a bit of common ground. Regardless, you get my sympathy. I can imagine I would be heartbroken if I could not relate to Coldplay´s new music but they are always changing, so we never know what´s coming next. And after all is said and then, if you still get MX, you might even like it enough to forget about the "bad" songs :)
  8. But it would be nice to be able to discuss, in order to exchange points of views. Someone pointed that Coldplay were using too many OOH OOH (a criticism): I never thought of that before and that got me thinking. I might not agree on the reason, but I learnt from another´s perspective. If we can not discuss in a civilized manner, there is no point in having a forum
  9. Viva La Vida the song was extremely successful, so it was definitely catchy and popular enough to become mainstream. Lost is very close to songs like Paradise, so even then you could see where they were heading. It is not a step back in my opinion, simply because they have never made anything like MX before, so there is nowhere back to step towards, if you know what I mean :) But I do get your point: that for you this evolution is not for the best, but any judgement on that will always be subjective :)
  10. CD all the way...then you can import it as Apple lossless or whatever other high quality format you prefer.
  11. Yeah I guess, according to some, Coldplay lost the power to think and act of their own free will...somewhere along the way between Viva and MX :)
  12. Stickers! That´s exactly what got me to buy the Pop version *LOL*
  13. The LE comes with an mp3 download on day of release...just saying, in case you did not know :) I am gonna save my money and take that (as long as it´s decent quality). I would only rate the studio songs and even then only tentatively as I think they are different once heard within MX, but here we go: Every Tear: 10/10 Major Minus: 10/10 Paradise: 10/10 Moving To Mars: 8/10 Yeah I will be called a sucker for being so generous, but they are seriously my fav songs in a long time :)
  14. Indeed: what a journey! regardless of whether you like the direction or not, everyone must admit they have changed so much and consistently! This can only be praised. It takes guts not to remain stagnant
  15. Chommy: Maybe paradise will sound different to you, once in the context of the album? It did happen to me with Viva La Vida actually. Was not so crazy with it as a single. (I went meh when I first heard it), but absolutely loved it when I heard it in the album. Strange but it can happen :)
  16. Imke: It is nice to have civilized discussions for once. Something not seen often on the forum these days :) As always , music is subjective: I love the new production and I think the new songs tell quite a story and speak to my heart. As for Jonny though, I really think he is very present in MX (see Major Minus) and personally I love his ETIAW riff. :) Some people prefer simple things to flashy things. That´s just personal preference. I do not care either way: I actually like both as long as I can resonate with the music and preferably also lyrics
  17. I respect your opinion but if taking THREE years to make an album is being under pressure....then I am not sure what being under pressure means. I think they are as free as they have ever been.
  18. I don´t think anyone is deluded they are able to convince anyone else changing their mind. :) But statements like: Coldplay has lost their identity in ETIAW. I respect that opinion, but I beg to differ. And I AM an old Coldplay fan:)
  19. I hear new layers on this song everytime...the violins, the piano, wow. Still crazy about it!
  20. The mark of a true music lover: to choose the music, even if it means being a loner hehe Loving it! :)
  21. Agreed with everything you are saying. After all they want her on POC for her VOICE, nothing more , nothing else, so it´s kinda pointless to start talking about her image, even though I don´t like that any more than you do
  22. I get your points, however :) 1- The visual effects on movie was a good example of what most people do and I will never understand it: judge a movie by how much or how little special effect it has in it. TO me this is pointless: I have seen wonderful emotional blockbuster eye-candy movies and shallow independent movies and vice-versa. It´s all about the story as you say: and a good story can be there, regardless of HOW the movie is made 2- I respect you feel this way about ET and Paradise and you feel them as shallow songs. To me they are very emotional, so I guess it´s all in the eye of the beholder (regardless of the production or lack thereof) 3- Chris´s voice stopped being the focal point since Viva as the band also said in interviews. They wanted to highlight the whole band and not just his voice anymore 4- Jonny´s riffs are alive and well in the new MX material. In my opinion he is more present than ever I totally get you are not down with the new direction, but my point is that you don´t like the production, not that it´s overproduced. I for one appreciate the extra layers they are putting on the new songs.
  23. I really don´t feel anything about Rhianna being on POC, unlike a LOT of people on the forum who have already decided it´s gonna be awful hehe I really think I need to hear the song to really make up my mind about her contribution, you know? Regardless of whatever she might have been doing as an artist before.
  24. I think this post will be enough to scare them away :) And was Yellow really ever anything more than mainstream?? Still: it was and is a beautiful song.
