What the fuck is wrong with people?
I can understand so well how you feel. I encounter what you describe a lot and it saddens me as well. At work we always try to be friendly to customers of course. Some make it very hard though. To me it's less a phenomenon of age but their backgrounds, a bit of what Valerie said. I won't go into that nationality discussion as it's totally wrong in my opinion, this is human behaviour, not specific to countries. I think everyone who ever worked in the services sector sees people different than how ppl perceive their environment who never worked in the services sector. That may be an old or a young person. It bothers me a lot when people don't reply to a friendly "hello", don't even look up but just say what they want. This even happened to people I know who only looked up to me when I didn't start fetching their order! Some just can't see that every person having a certain position is a human being as well. They just see the salesperson behind the counter who should please do as they want and ASAP. Or in your case a "guy sitting at the entrance". Or they complain in a bar why it took so long until their order arrived and don't give a tip because of that... instead of seeing that the place is packed and the staff is trying to handle the situation as good as possible. I'm happy for every single customer who comes out of the cinema and brings back his bottle or says hi and bye. A few days ago a repeat customer (do you call that a person who comes regularly??) tipped us 5€ and said she is sorry that so many people treat us like shit and that she knows we can't say "fuck off" when they're annoying but that she can! She was referring to a day when a customer was insisting on being right about movie performance times when he read it wrong in the display case... some just can't admit that they were wrong but get aggressive instead. She joined the discussion and said there are other people waiting in the queue and he should leave or choose another movie but not hold up everything!! It's little things like that which keep you believing in humanity. They are far too rare. And Thalia, I know what you mean. It's almost like a "class" behaviour from the last century where the "higher class" ignores the "slaves"... can't find better words but those people are far friendlier than the ones working in higher positions. Wow, that was long, I'm sorry! :laugh3:

4music's 50 Greatest Pop Videos - Vote for Coldplay!!
I think it's awesome! :P The beginning really annoys you and you think "What is going to come? When is it going to end???" and then BAM that loooooooooooooong limousine comes, the amazing song starts... I love the "remixed" version of the song during the credits, too! There's a "deeper" meaning behind the video, a short explanation can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windowlicker#Music_video This is my favourite music video, this one comes second: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8BWBn26bX0]YouTube- The Avalanches - Frontier Psychiatrist (Good Quality)[/ame]

The official Chavi and Carla and friends off topic thread
Anyone still here? :uhoh: I was at work when you were all here :disappointed: Pris, about sign ideas... Maybe you could do something related to travelling for them! When Cooky bought the tickets she made that joke that her pay check could actually go straight to the boys as she spent so much money on them already... So you could maybe count together how many miles / kilometres (go with km - that's a bigger number :P) you travelled for them already ("x concerts - xxxx km of travelling") and then say something underneath like "thanks for making it easier this time and coming to Mexico" or something like that?

Ask the Oracle on Coldplay.com (Now in session!)
February 25, 2010 - submitted by Als, United Kingdom Q. As there are so many of us who will never be as lucky as Phil to live in Argentina, or visit any part of South America, is there any chance Guy could tweet us some photos? We miss his twitter action. Thank you - and keep enjoying that gorgeous food, start the diet after your holiday ;) The Oracle replies: Guy was out shopping yesterday but don't think he was on a photo taking mission. However, I took some on my cycling tour and Roadie #42 has been out and about too so between the two of us I am pretty sure we could tweet some pics. There's a new #42 blog and of course that's the first of many so there'll be visuals there too.

Ask the Oracle on Coldplay.com (Now in session!)
February 25, 2010 - submitted by Heide, United States of America Q. How do the boys communicate when they're in foreign countries? The same question for the crew and yourself... The Oracle replies: We find that so many people speak English and are more than happy to speak our Mother Tongue. Quite honestly I always find it embarrassing that everyone seems to speak better English than I can of any other language. Here in Argentina though I am speaking a little Spanish with the locals. I'm not fluent but am giving it a go! Phil is chatting away in local lingo too. The band also try to learn new words and phrases but there's a translator to hand in case.

"Shutter Island" - WTF did Scorsese do there??
Oh cool, please tell me your thoughts if you find the time! We were three people watching it, all having the same opinion. And from what we heard in the foyer afterwards we weren't the only ones being disappointed. Last night I went to the IMDB forums and saw that some people really didn't get the movie (especially the end) which is sad. There are split opinions - people who love it and call it a masterpiece and those who have similar thoughts than I do... ok, happens with all movies. :P

Ask the Oracle on Coldplay.com (Now in session!)
February 25, 2010 - submitted by Karen, Argentina Q. In the short time you've been in our country, have you tried one of our regional delicacies? like dulce de leche, mate (it's a hot drink) or asado? What do you think about them? The Oracle replies: Well, we've been here for almost 2 days and last night sampled the delights of empanadas followed by various cuts of fine Argentinian beef (fyi: Chris hadn't arrived at this point and the vegetarians amongst us enjoyed fresh fish); that's practically asado covered. Phil Harvey lived here briefly and yesterday recommended we try dulce de leche which I ate earlier this evening... wow it's delicious! I saw some local women brewing up mate by a park but haven't had the opportunity to try it yet. I really must stop eating and drinking so much but it's impossible with so many amazing things on offer...

Thanks for that video!!!! Really cute. Did you see the interview with Dom on the Absolute Radio website? http://www.absoluteradio.co.uk/player/7708/dom_from_muse_at_the_nme_awards_2010.html Oh and what is that thread you're talking about that Matt made?? :stunned: Can one of you please give me a link? I'm totally clueless! :shy: Jen had the same reaction when Phil said that he visits coldplaying regularly at the War Child concert!! Her biggest fear was the fanfic thread if I remember correctly.
