  2. well staphan... ok?! :D i took off ALL the paint of my telecaster, then i used... ermm, in english it's called either wood stain or mordant i guess... black (only for darkening the red), red and yellow. it's a dark red-red-orange-light orange-yellow (edge to middle) burst. awesome bitch now :D then a few layers of 2cpu lacquer (2 components polyurethane) (sprayed with an airbrush). see, you should do it properly and assiduously, otherwise you won't have fun with the result! however, i have a question: you obviously have just removed the frets, but is that relly working now as a fretless bass? does it sound well? i'd be a little concerned because of the so called "break angle". if the strinbg "breaks" off too flat from the point where you depress it, it'll rattle or sound muted or dull
  3. yea, i've seen guys signature on the others, too, he's got a simple line :D :D :D btw: you all know the A Message H4HN version, right? everybody's seen the video? good. the telecaster deluxe that jonny is playing belonged to chris and was also sold at the EOTDS, wasn't it??
  4. you know, the old finish has to be removed first, right ?! otherwise, it really depends on what you are planning to do! upload a rough sketch here so we can help you further. for some detailed pictures or something (like Guys Jaguar-Bass) i'd recommend some kind of special pens, they can be applied to the existing finish so you don't have to remove it. ok, but then you might need another layer of clear finish. here, we have those also available as spray (normally for cars) from a brand called "Kwasny", you'll find something similar at your local hardware store.
  5. awesome! what did you pay for it?
  6. how funny is that! you might get a DLX RV but think a HR DLX is too loud? :D yeah, it's not bad! but i mean the HR will totally do... though the dlx rv is a 2 channel, so you can swith from the od to clean... so: if you want to use the amp distortion sometimes, but also want to switch to clean quickly, then go with the DLX RV. if you want to use the amp clean only, then the HR DLX is a good choice also. man, i'd love to have any of these, but musicians are poor people, and so am i!
  7. well, that's gonna cost you at least £800 btw.. which is relatively cheap! i've refinished my telecaster and know what a fucking lot of work this is... so you either do it yourself or you forget about it, sorry!
  8. see, the whole guitar resonates when you pick a string. everything vibrates, and the vibration of the air is the sound! if you put something on the top of the guitar, for instance the paint, then you change the vibrating behaviour of the guitar! it might sound quieter also... everything on a guitar is meant to be perfect for resonance, so if you change anything, the components possibly don't match each other. so be sure what you are doing and what paint you are taking (better talk to an expert first!). whatever you change does not necessarily make it sound shit, but a) the sound will definitely be different b) it might be!
  9. i'd take a blues jr. or hod rod deluxe (c'mon, can't be too loud?!) if you take the HR DLX, and you think it's "too loud", then you don't need to care about headroom, right? ;)
  10. that's the best advice you can get, and the best you can do: Try everything out before you buy it! (Except if there is a full money refund for certain amount of days... my local music-stuff online seller (biggest in europe btw) offers a 30-days money back guarantee) for acoustics: Massive wood top is compulsory! never go with any else. generally the wood should be massive! then feel the neck, how are the frets? does it feel right for you? if you have ANY doubts, DON'T buy! it must be absolutely suitable... strum it very hard, check the tuning, does it stay in tune properly? how's the overall handling? if you like the sound and the rest is alright, then you've found yourself a guitar! certainly, the less money you spend on a guitar (better save some money, pal!), the less you'll get, the more troubles and inconviniences you will have as well as less fun! be careful, there's cheap shit, expensive shit, too expensive good stuff and the good stuff with a very reasonable price! (see the Crafter guitars, good guitars for very fair prices!) since you are planning to paint it, either take a relatively cheap guitar (then the epiphone could be the right thing, i guess) or you buy a real good guitar and paint your old one (if your dad lets you do it then...) but i'm begging you PLEASE be careful with anything you do to your acoustic! i don't mind you scratching and ripping off the finish with a solidbody or generally e-guitar, but acoustics are more... "sensitive" when it comes to the finish and the sound...
  11. chords: http://tinyurl.com/yl7g5fx (just in case) how to do chords: http://tinyurl.com/howtobuilt ;) (don't be pissed)
  12. well, the shape is the same, the sound isn't even nearly. also, paint will make your guitar sound different anyway, so you either screw it up or you make it good.
  13. why 2 times the SAME floor-controller? backup? and what's a BF2 ?
  14. yeah, thank you! didn't find that somehow!
  15. well, i like it! (that's enough of words, if i don't critisize you, then you really got it!) you've been using a yamaha keyboard for everything (maybe also an e-guitar?), haven't you? (i think i recognize all the sounds because i know them well from my yamaha e-piano, haha) pretty good one, just a little off the beat with the bass drum sometimes the video... ok, bizarre style and sometimes not really plausible (= i don't get it why you have chosen some stuff, like why'd you film normal roadsings ?!) but it's great aswell, mostly matches the music (or vice versa).
  16. it's "Hope For Hatiti Now" by the way... i'd want to see the WHOLE song, there's always the beginning missing on youtube, dammit! tab's won't be that hard i guess, but i'll want them, too!
  17. i'm using a CVP-202, but i haven't tried the strings for VLV as of yet.... but don't always think of repruducing stuff, just give it your own sound
  18. dead on? rather dead i guess... sorry, this tab is pretty inaccurate! the intro is wrong and the chords are also. you don't hammer on the high e string, it's the G as far as i recall... i found it out partly, some time ago... you can have a very close look on jonny's hand when you watch this video where chris has this little keyboard for kids and jonny with his guitar... might have been "60 minutes" or whatever it's called... you'll find it on youtube anyway
  19. my yamaha does! they do - imo - the best sounds... but you might have to mix them, of course!
  20. sure? don't you rather mean synth strings? (or generally digital strings) though there is some real violin in it, partly... (and this one is either E or A)
  21. "messy" describes it very well! =( and the e-guitar with the tremolo effect is missing
  22. 1 - i was talking about your clocks, which is really nothing! 2 - well, took me 30mins just for trying out if that stuff works! i really did not want to do it properly so well, i wasn't in time, you're right, and my guitar might have been out of tune, true also, but who cares? ;) btw: the shrill tone i guess comes from my eq settings... but don't let us turn this into sort of a fight:lol: oh, and i really like your big sur moon^^ must have taken a while to practise?
  23. I've added See you soon also and made them visible/ hearable here in this thread
  24. personally, i chose a thinline as my real guitar and a CIJ Jaguar - the difference in price to the american models (and then they are custom shop or vintage series!) is so huge, that i could never afford them (at least in near future). these cheaper guitars are really good! also, you simply cannot compare them, because there is nothing to compare with! no thinlines under 900€ (hehe, except for me :D), no jaguar less than 700€. a professional must admit that these 700€/900€ guitars are good for them, that there's no need for a more expensive version. btw: hands off of Highway 1 series if online purchase intended! the highway 1 is kind of the trash of the other american models, some are good, some are a load of *you-know*! you need to check them carefully - my local guitar store guy's advice what did i want to say again? ermm... well, there are a lot of teles and strats with various prices (but not nearly as many... well, more special guitars like the thinline, jaguar etc.)- comparing always pays off... and don't buy a guitar because someone says "oh this is so great!" or a famous person plays it!
  25. you know your intro is wrong, right? sorry, but frankly, i don't like it! your singing isn't that good - lyrics are incorrect also and i won't even go in detail with your guitar playing - bad! you might make something good, but there's waaay to go, and waaay to practise! ;)
