  1. i do know :D is anyone does not: see, you have a C e.g. on a piano, it'S a C, but played on a clarinet, it really sounds as Bb so all you have to do is write down the piano sheets 2 half steps higher. so play a D on a clarinet and a C on a piano and it will sound the same! btw.: you can also tune your clarinet, but sadly only even lower! are there C-clarinets? and c-horns, c-trumpets etc.?! would be possible at least!
  2. yeah, i know, but you can still play the notes anyway! and if you really need it, transpose them yourself!
  3. um, since there is no clarinet in any coldplay song, there's no sheets ! and why don't you just use the piano sheets?
  4. a flying v is no way rock and roll ! a les paul or a strat is rock and roll, but not a V ! a v is... classic rock and hard rock.... (yes, there IS a difference ;) ) my pc won't play the video, too bad...
  5. the "G" is a G minor (Gm)
  6. it could compress the sound, make it rather dull. however, chirs doesn't have to care about string vibrations, he's a guy up on a stage with a PA and a pickup-system in his guitar. but you are not always playing your guitar over a PA, are you?! it's that: the pickup-system (either inductive/magnetic PU or piezo PU) does not really work like a microphone (especially the magnetic PU!) the piezo's sound will be affected, too, but you do have an EQ normally, allowing you to modulate the sound and compensating the loss of tone. the damage to the pure acoustic sound is constant (and hardly reversible)
  7. no, no ! i like paintings very much. i meant buying a cheapo guitar for testing is not worth the money!
  8. sorry, but that's just a waste of money. a similar piece of wood will do perfect for this job aswell
  9. yes indeed, i bought my instruments (except for 1 squier tele) in local stores. would be really bad if i wouldn't have any near me =( btw Nils, why do you say the prices in $? thought norway has got the €, too? :D or did you pay your amp with $ ?! oh, and could you record some sound samples with it? @staphan cool bass, what color is it going to be?
  10. [[@ stephan you know i'm not a bassist, too, but coldplay songs (if you got the right tabs or if you play it correct by ear) are not what i call difficult on a bass!? i don't see why one would quit with GPASUYF, though Sparks and Everything's not lost might be a little tough... and why do you recommend Fix You when you think that GPASUYF is inappropriate !? :D edit: wow, i never knew about the wrist...]] maybe another song would be Don't Panic... or Trouble (they are a little more advanced, but not too hard)
  11. congratulations! see, you thought about the other amps, didn't like the sound as much as the deluxe reverb and finally bought the right amp for you! choices such as this one need some time... btw: what did you pay for it? @stephan: do you order the stuff online or do you go into actual stores? (i know that the MusicStore in cologne isn't that far...) or do you go to a local store, test the stuff and buy it cheaper online? :D
  12. ok: NO fender (they do electrics very well, but screw up acoustics gibson; very expensive, i'd choose another brand try the guitars from Crafter or Takamine, they have very good ones for a fair price! but have a look and try them out at your local store! you MUST do that! watch out that you have a massive wood top.... and it needs to feel and sound right to you ( = the most important thing!) also: how much do you want to spend? are you a beginner ? (or why else don't you know about guitars?) do you need a pickup system? but the best way is always to go into a store and play all the stuff you want - if they won't let you, it's a bad store and you'll have to look for another one.
  13. don't kill me if i'm wong, but jonny does certainly NOT get his crunch from his amp. how'd he change the sound quickly? the amp's in the back... he's got his pedals, they're enough! and so the pedals will be right for you as well, but chose them wisely!
  14. you see, normally, you would use pedals aswell! a TS (any kind from ibanez, they're all good) would do that job pretty good i suppose, but a ProCo RAT will never do. there are certain things you need to watch, see "soft clipping" and "hard clipping" (distortion-types); pros can read that out of a schematic very quickly... BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER EVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER buy stuff "just for so" (except if there's a money refund...), you ABSOLUTELY MUST TEST YOUR GEAR!!! to the amp-crunch: it depends on the kind of amp (Solidstate/tube) and generally on different stuff, but see, these amps have a "Master Volume" knob, which is one real good feature. so you have a "gain" and a "volume" knob, what to do? i prefer to turn my gain up to about 40-45% and the volume just as desired. could you please tell us all the amps with full names (at least not like HRDLX etc, might be confusing now) that can be taken into consideration that you'd buy? or if you are still looking for any amp, then what features you want and the maximum price. that would really help us to help you
  15. well, i'll see.... btw: why the hell do ALL bassists have slim and long fingers? :laugh3:! i would never have expected that! what also shows that i'm not a bassist :D
  16. that's just some major chords... :inquisitive: i can tell you the right chords someday (i'm a bit lazy...)
  17. then you might think about a customized version of the hrd. your local amp-seller should have some good electric-stuff-guy who will easily change the volume-pot to one that definitely suits your amp and is just how you like it... that ain't the problem. it shouldn't cost you more than 20€ (which is a fair price to pay for a 500€++(don't know the exact price) amp)
  18. yeah, but i think i would miss the chords.... the crackling pots seem to be a rather common problem with cheaper guitar and bass models
  19. i think i will record something soon... not tomorrow (stupid school! leaving at 7:30(am), coming home 18:15 / 6:15pm on mondays...) but keep in mind that i'm rather a guitarist than a bassist :D haven't played it for at least 2 months... btw: i might have to change my potis, they crackle :( hmm, i wonder what a fretless guitar would sound like.... damn hard to play i guess.... and chords are like impossible....
  20. yeah definitely! i never understood the "too loud" issue completely. though you could argue that the good sound you want only appears at higher volumes, which seems to be so with certain setups...
  21. 1: go with the casino 2: "loud" is relative... you cannot crank it up for some heavy distortion stuff. it'll have more feedback, yes, but the so called sustain block inside will prevent lots of it... 3: a full hollowbody will have feedback troubles, that's true, at least if you distort it quite a bit. but neither the dot nor the casino is a full hollowbody. the sound from a full and a semi hollowbody differs very much, you cannot confuse that...
  22. are you sure? daylight and gpasuyf??
  23. yeah i liked your jazzbass (the natural one with black block inlys, right?)... i got myself a Squier P-Bass Special, which has a P body, P and J pickups and a J neck. in antique burst, beautiful thing, sounds good... i guess it's far better that the affinity series.... i wouldn't dare taking off the frets of this one :D (mainly because it's the only bass i own!!) but did you have to set up the saddles higher than normal after removing the frets? (--> break angle)
  24. uuhhh, the bass is soo wrong - it actually is right, but not at the right time! - the singing... isn't really good and the guitar is a bit rushy and the electric lacks some reverb and basses (and distortion), too loud in the verse and it's kind of wrong sometimes... and the entries, so when you are starting a new instrument or start singing again, are off beat... at least what you are playing (= the tabs) seems to be correct phew, sounds hard, but at least with that i'm telling you what you can improve and not just saying "not good, forget it". Try again ;)
  25. i cannot hear anything! my pc's kinda f/ 'd up... got an mp3? so, but do you have to fill the notches or is it just for... yeah, what did you fill them up for? and what about slapping? are frets necessary? +++ what bass was it actually? fender J ? (/ squier j ?)
