  1. everything done by myself :D chords, phew, i use a certain shape you only need the EADG strings, the BE are tuned to C#C# and always ring with the rest. the shape: imagine you play a Major chord over the low e string, then you don't do a barre but play the low e with your thumb! the c#c# are not pressed of course, like: 576500 ( = A) same for minor chords: 244200 ( = F#m) then follow the chord progression as it's featured a billion times here in the instrument room ;) btw: the fretted note on the low e-string sets the name! ;)
  2. hey there! just recorded something for fun! (only 1h ago, took me half an hour ;) ) what do you think? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jfiMKVrfg8]YouTube- Life In Technicolor Acoustic (Cover)[/ame] +++ here's see you soon: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoAMdjj_ok0]YouTube- See You Soon - Instrumental Cover[/ame] feel free to comment on that also! tell me whether it's completely awful or whatever ;) ps: they were not made properly, and again - just for fun ^^
  3. well, and i disagree here ;) i think that especially the extremely expensive models tend to show less improvements! compare a 500$ with a 1000$ strat - amazing difference! compare a 2000$ with a 3000$ - errm, where exactly is the difference? but (!!) a lot of guitars sound DIFFERENT, but you cannot say BETTER or WORSE ! yes, a squier tele will never sound better than a custom shop model ;) but in a certain price range, it all depends on what you like, and not what's better/worse
  4. yellow can be re-arranged for 1 guitar vey well! and forget about those backing-tracks, you don't really need them, just have try without...
  5. THOSE "backing tracks" are SHIT. sorry for my choice of words but they really are not good! however: try death will never conquer, it really is without chris! and speed of sound, yellow...
  6. well THAT is a fairly cheap price to pay for a perfect playability ;)
  7. 1: the eventide h7600 got more and different stuff than the eclipse... just google it ;) or on the eventid website 2: is it the eventide h7600 or the lexicon mpx g2 he used during the x&y tour? and was one of them used for white shadows?? listen at the end, it sound like a pitch shifter/octaver effect when he does the single notes... sometimes up and sometimes down an octave, just a very quiet and slightly audible effect....
  8. ok, 1: you don't want to mess it? DON'T put a hand on your stuff, never file anything, just stop! you're not a pro, so leave it to someone who's got the skills 2: if you want to set up intonation and the truss rod adjustment, work on the truss rod FIRST! if you have your intonation correct and then change your trussrod setting, you screw it up! 3: generally, bring your axe to a local store, they'll do that professionally and relatively cheap. intonation + action: US$25-30 is a fair price! some say you should let your guitar be set up as the seasons change ( = 4 times a year), often, twice a year is also good (once in summer & winter), and sometimes, once a year is ok too. --if your strings don't buzz (yours do, sorry), then there's no real reason to let it be set up. then it's just personal taste.
  9. what was the lexicon jonny had? -- just found out, it's a Lexicon MPX G2 wow, i actually didn't know what he used for the awesome intro... (guess it's the same + delay as for spies, see on youtube "coldplay live spies") ... but makes sense, it really sounds like some expensive rack stuff... to the Eventide Eclipse Video: the sustain (or ist that the decay phase?) of the 3rd effect preset sound kinda like the intro of "Low", doesn't it?
  10. well, then you definitely have to pay the Eventide H7600 for ~4000$ a signal processor is just a device that models a signal (the guitar's signal here, obviously!) in a certain way (depends on the type of effect, of course!) using 1 or more processors (the computer stuff :D ). the usual pedals are not using those, which is why they don't belong to the signal processors. that only might be of importance when you are looking for some stuff like the eventides etc.
  11. what the?! pickups don't need to be checked often at all... and they would not cause string buzzing in any way! (except if your action is so low that the strings would be on top of the PU covers - if present -) the strings are normally changed every week or 2 weeks (though you can play them about a month sometimes), depends on how much you play and if they still have the right sound. they often loose their brilliance quite fast... i wonder how you could possibly leave strings on a guitar for over 6 months! (actually, they do tend to break faster than that!) cannot sound good anymore...
  12. um, try some reverb pedals... (they definitely belong to the most expensive ones, that explains the eventide's price), Boss RV5 e.g. also MXR Phase 90 and a distortion pedal (proco rat, TS(any),...) ever thought about a Guitar-Synthesizer? that'll do fine, I suppose... although you practically can order effects online, you must try them out in a store... btw:the eventide rack units belong to the group of Signal Processors. there are also cheaper ones that are good... e.g. the products from Alesis or Lexicon (MX300 / MX400 ...) EDIT: otherwise you might spend 15.790€ (~22,720USD) for a LEXICON 960 MLAD MULTI PROCESSOR... wow, this thing has got a rack unit and an external controller pad 'cause there are so many functions and knobs and stuff.... incredible!
  13. he's using the eventide throughout the whole song i suppose! also on LiT (ii) however, jonny uses an Eventide H7600, which has even more sounds and stuff... and which is twice as expensive ;)
  14. restring your guitar and set it up properly. those many screws are to make your guitar sound good and playable, not just decoration, you know? ;) what guitar is it actually? (would us help to help you) the setup is damn important for your playing, didn't you know?
  15. he neither uses the jaguar nor the jazzmaster live! a thinline is good aswell ;) (though the Jazzmaster was used for the studio version and maybe even during recent live appearances) well, who cares about the exact pedals?! however, he uses : - Fulltone OCD pedal - EHX Micro POG - Pro Co RAT Vintage Rat distortion - Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer - Boss TU2 tuner (x2) - HBE Power Screamer - Boss RV3 reverb - MXR Phase 90 - Boss DD5 delay - Line 6 DL4 (x2, at least while X&Y era) - Ernie Ball Volume pedals - Midi floor controller - Voodoo Labs Ground Control - TC Electronic 2290 Delay (x2) - Line 6 Echo Pro (x2) - Eventide H7600 expensive stuff, have fun experimenting!
  16. well, i don't pick a guitar for it's brand & name... i want the sound and feel firstly (frankly: often the price, to my shame:embarassed: but's the sound that matters) , then the look and then... whatever;) BUT: no matter what anyone tells you, test yourself. instruments and sounds (music in general!) are the most subjective things in the world... however, most people won't recognize a difference between good guitars, or a cheapo and a >5000$ guitar... only if they are musicians themselves.... frankly, i couldn't hear the difference between a lot of guitars, maybe just because i'm lacking a lot of expirience...
  17. yeah? hard to hear with a 1-ear-headphone... (see, the right one got broken ;) )
  18. for the 4580932846598236958023958th time: we don't know (as of yet) ! ;) but i think a lot of Phaser, Chorus, Reverb, Distortion + tremolopicking will do pretty well. (for LiJ, don't remember DAAHF correctly, though it's some distortion, reverb and a little chorus, but don't forget to chose the right guitar&PU)
  19. AmStd? why not AmDlx? too bad, i could never play one of these! maybe some other time... what's with jonnys old guitars? the jazz guitar (gibson?), the ES335 (is it jonny's or does chris own guitars himself?), the jaguar (btw: i recently bought one, it's awesome!) and did jonny EVER have a stratocaster? and since when does he own his LesPauls (and what models are they)?
  20. i've just seen on my local retailer's website (authorized fender dealer) that they don't offer them anymore, which is quite odd when the guitars are available acutally... i thought they might have been discontinued, however i don't know either^^
  21. with 12-15 i rather meant the original price... or are there any reissues? (the baja teles are quite cool... are they discontinued??)
  22. wow, that's over 22,000USD more than jonny paid for it :D you could easily get 12-15 of these teles for that money :D
  23. i guess that's chris' CP90 (is it a 90?), he's selling that one! (end of the decade sale...) you hear the tiny part at the end? sounds like the CP to me!
  24. first of all: tell us how much you want to spend at all! then what guitar you want to buy and -very important- what amp? then we'll be able to help you further. HOWEVER: you don't really need a distortion pedal as a beginner if your amp is good. most amps have some effects built in which are useful and not too bad. i'd choose a multieffects-pedal! there you have distortion, chorus, flanger, phaser, delay, echo, reverb, compressor, noise gate, EQ and all that stuff! i advise you to take the ZOOM G2.1u! good quality multi-effects-pedal and absolutely affordable for anyone! but: DO NEVER EVER BUY A CHEAPO AMP (neither a cheapo guitar!) !!
  25. no "effects", simple distortion + Jazzmaster
