  1. Eep, I have a friend who purchased for Phoenix a while back and got a prepaid card from a scalper. Hopefully she'll be okay if this specification was only just put up.
  2. I did a huge fundraiser for Invisible Children as my big senior community project in high school. I later realized that it was the stupidest thing I've ever done. I'm glad more people are finally finding out about Kony. But I'm upset at the way they're finding it out.
  3. Was hoping so too since I'm highly considering attending my first ACL this year. Oh well, hopefully this means I'll get a proper SoCal show in Aug or Sept. And yeah, all the new songs so far are merely okay and have a lot of work that need to be put into them if they're to end up on a future album. Oh, my friend called me during Airbag the other night but it cut out after 10 seconds since connections at gigs are always crappy. Was still awesome.
  4. DESTROYING PUPPY'S DREAMS (you've all seen that video, correct? :laugh3:) I memorized Micro Cuts but it was one of the last songs I learned. And now I attempt to do it in the falsetto every time. And I fail. Every time. A few lyrics on .mu actually ARE wrong. I know a couple Hullabaloo ones are.
  5. Yeah, I doubt it's an indicator of Album 4's direction, though I wouldn't necessarily mind if they did take this path and ran with it. I think it's a decent song, though not quite album-worthy, so perfectly acceptable as a song to a film soundtrack.
  6. They were drunk as hell. If you look at Tom's tweets from that night, he and Dom were clearly hammered. The obviously realized their drunken error and panicked. I can't wait for the next person who runs into Dom and asks him about this. :laugh3:
  7. Can't say I'm digging that vocal echo effect. But at the moment, it doesn't seem as terrible as "Stop for a Minute".
  8. Yep, most of these will likely not see the light of day, and the ones that will may still undergo drastic changes. And while "Panic Station" and "Madness" are cool names, the others sound kinda dumb, so expect some tweaking of names too. ...now let's please not turn into the Coldplay forum and whine about never hearing these songs. (they're still gonna bitch about not hearing "Famous Old Painters" 50 years from now)
  9. Ahahahahahaha Tom Kirk was drunkenly tweeting pics of Muse getting hammered in the studio and tweeted a pic of Dom passed out, and there were SONG TITLES in the background. 5 minutes later he deleted it, realizing his drunken fail. Good Musers, of course, saved it and re-posted it everywhere. And since I get their tweets saved to my phone, I had a copy of it waiting for me once I emerged from the most boring 3-hour lecture of my life. All tentative titles, of course, but enjoy: This might be better than Morgan drunkenly spilling the tour schedule after last year's NME awards.
  10. Yep. Often times you can find tickets for specific numbered seats on 3rd party sites like Stubhub before those shows even go on sale, and that includes special presales. So it's not like it's only no-name scalpers trying to scalp off the regular sale. Promoters (both the band promoters and the venue ones) often already have tickets on these sites available before the public can purchase them through TM/LN. While I'm speaking from experience in the U.S., this seems to be a worldwide problem. It's why I prefer when bands sell tickets through their own websites.
  11. Seen a lot of hair complaints across the web, but from my non-fangirl, attraction-immune, heterosexual, male standpoint, his regular hairstyle was anything but presentable for the Academy Awards. These aren't the Grammys where he's the star and gets to do whatever he wants. He's at this to make Kate look good. She's not gonna drag around a drowned sewer rat all night. Glad he shaved though. He was looking like an ape in those studio pics.
  12. Aaaaaand speak of the devil, I happened to be online at just the right time and just now bagged free tickets for Keane's Jimmy Kimmel taping next month. Score one for me. :D
  13. I thought Perfect Symmetry - aside from the title track and maybe 2 other songs - was terrible. Its best song was a B-side (My Shadow) that later wound up on the even worse Night Train. I truly hope they can recover from those. UTIS is one of my favorite albums ever and so the last thing I want Keane to do is turn into "early 90's cheese pop meets The Fray" (which was basically how PS sounded). New album will get a fair listen from me regardless since it's only been one major strike so far (gonna be nice and overlook Night Train since it was an experimental EP).
  14. Paradise IS the off-air performance. They won't post any others. These were the only two recorded. Kimmel's outdoor tapings have always been one song filmed for TV, one song filmed for web, and the rest is audience-only.
  15. A few people have run into Dom at various places over the last few months, and he's said October to each of them. :)
  16. Robyn only strikes me as an odd choice because she's been around so damn long, while the other acts are all relative newcomers. She's kind of had a resurgence in the last few years after blowing up in the 90's then fading out for a few years, but she's pretty huge for a support act. I mean, she headlined Hollywood Bowl last year, even though Coldplay are playing there too (granted, that venue is WAY TOO SMALL for Coldplay).
  17. It's funny, I was actually in Santa Monica the other night when Tom tweeted the pics, which is the town right next to Malibu where they're currently recording. (no, I'm not gonna stalk, though apparently some of the creepy fans know exactly where the studio is *shudder*)
  18. Extremely likely. Hope the folks attending that show can get a replacement act. That would suck to get screwed out of an awesome support band.
  19. Metronomy, Robyn, and Marina & the Diamonds are all bloody fantastic. Those of you with the Robyn/Wolf Gang combo get the best deal, as that's a show I would attend without Coldplay. I don't like The Pierces but obviously that whole Guy Berryman connection was too tempting for Coldplay to pass up.
  20. They can't fill stadiums here though. Heck, even American bands that can fill stadiums in Europe can't fill stadiums in America.
  21. Definitely hope I can catch these guys at Coachella, especially since Radiohead has no local arena date with them supporting. I think I actually heard "Black Tables" a few years ago from a recommendation on this very forum, and the latest album is great too.
  22. You're right, it's most definitely not exclusive to Coldplay. There aren't really any bands that fill stadiums here anymore besides U2, but U2 is a similar example. (even though I personally thought they didn't go downhill quite as rapidly) Their shows feature both fans who are exclusively fans of their first 10 years, as well as casual newcomers who were brought in with "Beautiful Day" onward and aren't too familar with the oldest stuff.
  23. Paradise is whored out on the radio here. ETIAW didn't receive much airplay and I doubt Charlie Brown will either, but they're gaining new fans at a faster rate than they're losing old ones, for better or worse. They could easily fill stadiums here now, as indicated by how nearly every tour stop has 2 or 3 dates in each arena. That's more than the Viva tour and about 40,000-60,000 tickets per city. And they all sell out. So even though they lost me as a fan, they've gained lots of new fans who weren't interested by older (and better :P) material.
  24. Chris Martin joining Noel Gallagher was easily the least terrible thing Chris has done musically within the past year. And Elbow, Arctic Monkeys, and Kasabian have all been far superior to Coldplay in the last year, which is why we must take these fan-voted awards with a grain of salt. ...oh crap, this isn't the WoM section? My apologies. What I meant to say was how terrible it is that they didn't win best album as well as win all the categories they weren't nominated in too. And also that Jonny's butt is cute, or some fangirl thing like that.
