  1. I didn't see Coldplay this tour. :P:laugh3: Garbage tonight. First gig in over a month. Actually, Silversun Pickups are headlining, but I'm way more excited about Garbage.
  2. You've Got the Love has been redone for this tour. Didn't like it before, but the string rendition is great. Not my video but from the same mini-fest show I went to a few years ago (in which most people there hadn't heard of Florence yet, haha): [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcUFU_19pyc&list=FLYkZGlbUpUDkRRboE_2-z_Q&index=12&feature=plpp_video]Florence + The Machine - Blinding - Live at KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas - YouTube[/ame] Shit's insane.
  3. Awesome pics! Rabbit Heart is absolutely on a different level live, especially the keyboard solo where everyone in the audience is bouncing wildly. A lot of the Lungs tracks were really enhanced live (the studio versions of Drumming Song and Blinding are mere shadows of their live renditions, for example), and I think that's the one missed opportunity for the Ceremonials tracks since they really aren't changed up at all from their studio equivalents.
  4. ...I didn't like Viva la Vida. :P (and I think Achtung Baby is way better than Joshua Tree, but that's a whole different discussion haha) Glad SLC became a single. Best single since "A Bad Dream".

The stream's been taken down. Looks like someone on the inside screwed up big time. :laugh3: EDIT: It looks like it still works if you have the direct link. Heeheeeheehee.

Love the title track. Definitely my favorite upon first listen. Still enjoy the lead single. Absolutely hate "The Wanderlust". "Dreams So Real" might end up being a 'skip' too. Everything else is gonna have to grow on me.
  7. Cosmic Love is performed at basically every show, festivals included. Sadly, Blinding's been absent this tour. Sucks because I felt it was her best song live (8 minute rendition with extended intro and outro).
  8. Ooh. Burn. :laugh3: Seriously, that cover looks like vomit. Literally.
  9. The B-side just happens to be a dying breed these days. It's a shame, but most B-sides these days by most artists are remixes, not new songs. Heck, even X&Y had a lot more released scraps than VLV did, so it's just not a common practice anymore.
  10. When the album first came out, I had to vent. I used lots of profanities on here and totally disowned the band. My opinion about most of the album has not changed one bit, but I've blown off enough steam by now that I can critique it in a civil manner, haha. As for HLH, I know a lot of people preferred the live version because of some odd effects on Chris's voice, but I didn't like it back then either. I dunno, it just sounds like a way blander version of a billion songs Bruce Springsteen has written.
  11. As many of you may recall, I was really disappointed with this album and I didn't really listen to it again after November, though every now and then I'll hear a track from the album, and really, I think the only salvageable thing on the whole album is "Us Against the World". I used to think "Charlie Brown" was a bright spot, but that was in the immediate aftermath of the release of the dreadful "Paradise", and in reality, CB is just an inoffensive pop song that doesn't commit the horrible sins of ETIAW, Parrot Dies, or PoC. But it's really not that great. I can say the same thing about DLIBYH, honestly. At first I didn't really have a verdict for that song. But I feel DLIBYH could be so much better than it actually is. It's catchy but it's a disorganized mess at the same time. This also applies to "Major Minus" and "Up in Flames" - those 2 songs should be great. But little things (bad production on the former, that horrible drum beat on the latter, and Chris' most irritating vocals ever on both of them) kill them both. And of course, I still for the life of me cannot understand the appeal of "Hurts Like Heaven" which is lyrically atrocious and musically generic. And I'm gonna just spare you all my thoughts on ETIAW, Paradise, and PoC. :P So if anything, my opinion of the album has deteriorated even further somehow. :laugh3:

I dunno, I'm not feeling this one as much as "Youth Without Youth". But hey, I got tickets to see them in October, and they'll be at ACL too, so I get to see them twice that month. It's been far too long since the last time (especially since the time I saw them in 2010 was probably the worst show I've ever been to sound-wise and a total letdown compared to when I saw them the year before).
  13. USE ME, SHOW ME THE JACUZZI If I used that in a poetry class, I'd fail that class. :laugh3:
  14. The album's settled in more and I can't say I'm enjoying this as much as the debut. A couple great tracks like "The Sea Is Calling" and "Miracle", a couple outright terrible songs like "Where Do We Go From Here", and half the tracks are just kinda middling. There's nothing anywhere as good as "Science of Fear" or "Resurrection" on here.
  15. Sadly, the only British influence we're currently getting is the boy band assault. :P
  16. Matt is exactly my height, and I'm 5'7", so I know that number's right. :P And I'm not tall but I'm certainly not short, haha. He's just the shortest of the 3.
  17. Well it's true, though. The rock scene here is prevalent but it's underground. Rock festivals are all able to sell out and yet that's all through buzz, not mainstream advertisement. You don't hear rock songs in public. There hasn't been a rock single to hit #1 here in over a decade (Viva la Vida is a pop song and does not count :P). Heck, several American rock bands like The Killers are way more popular overseas than they are in their own home country. Bringing this thread back to Arctic Monkeys, though, they may never break North America at this point. They've been playing 3,000-capacity venues here ever since Favourite Worst Nightmare and haven't been able to move higher. Which I won't complain about because I enjoy more intimate shows. :P
  18. But here in the U.S., nobody's heard a thing by Keane since "Somewhere Only We Know". Still, Jack White's album hit #1 here a few weeks back, which was a pleasant surprise since it was the first rock album to hit #1 since Foo Fighters over a year ago.
  19. Yep, been the past few years now. The price went up to $350 this year. Eeeeep. Anyway, forget that 4 month drought I just mentioned, because I just bought tickets for The Kills in August and for Austra in September.
  20. Good to know! I've heard they've gotten a full hour in their Black Keys support slots. That's incredible for a support act. The Black Keys probably realized that a lot of people were gonna come for AM, so they gave them that extra time.
  21. Still pretty good pics considering that indoor concert lighting can be a bitch sometimes, especially with a point-and-shoot! (I don't have a professional one either, not that I could take one into a concert anyway haha. I usually tweak my settings each time with some test shots before the show.) FWN is probably one of my 10 favorite albums of the 21st century.
  22. Oh believe me, I deleted about 20 photos that didn't turn out at all because of the roughness! His hair's been this length for almost a year now, I think.
  23. That's what I'm hearing about a lot of the Black Keys support slots, which is honestly to be expected, but I'm still having trouble envisioning an Arctic Monkeys show where I'm NOT being knocked around and bruised everywhere.:laugh3: Anyway, since this thread's been revived, I may as well spam you guys with a few of my Coachella photos (a brutally rough crowd where I was standing, hence the small number of photos).
  24. Humbug was the biggest grower on the planet but I eventually fell in love with it about a year after it was released. I'm still not big on SIAS one year later, though.
  25. It looks like I'm gonna have to cancel Outside Lands Fest, giving me 4 whole months of nothing, which might just be my longest stretch without a concert since 2008 (though something will likely pop up last minute). But I need to put work as a priority these next few months. Still, I bought my Coachella 2013 pass this morning, so I only have 11 months until that happens. :laugh3:
