The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Natt, if you go, you will witness Muse history and I will be so jealous of you that I'll never talk to you again. But if you don't go, you will be missing Muse history and I will be so disappointed in you that I'll never talk to you again. Pick your poison. :P (Hint: GO.)

Muse themselves have now confirmed Reading/Leeds! But...what's this? I take back what I said about being happy for all of you going. You all suck. I love you all, but you still suck. :P

How good is The King of Limbs (a month later...)
This is nearly identical to my own rankings. Flip TKOL and Amnesiac and you have my list (so...that'd be a 6). I've always had some trouble with Amnesiac, honestly. Come to think of it, I haven't listened to TKOL in probably two weeks, though that's probably because I haven't been in a Radiohead mood. That may be precisely the problem - a new Radiohead album should totally get me in the mood to repeatedly listen to them. But I still don't dislike TKOL. :)

Really happy for all of you going to Reading/Leeds! :D (I want my friggin' Lolla line-up already) More pro-shots are always good. :) Full Exo has me in doubt, though. People thought they'd do it for Glasto. Didn't happen. People thought they'd do it for Wembley. Didn't happen.

Tell me about it. The pass itself was $270 but they charged an extra FIFTY dollars in "convenience" fees. I'm pretty sure printing and shipping a bloody wristband does not cost fifty dollars for the promoter. Probably doesn't even cost them five dollars. Crooks. That's really nice. At Coachella, not only is camping super limited, but it costs almost as much as it would to stay in a hotel, and that's not even counting the additional fee they charge for having your car parked there for 3 days. Instead we got a hotel a whole 40 minutes away. Thankfully for Lollapalooza, I'm staying half a block away from the park. Two minute walk at most. :nice: Yeah, the plus side to having a real job is that I'll be able to afford these expenses regularly. The downside is that I won't have as much free time.

Ooh nice Lore! I don't think Lolla Chicago is quite that cheap, but it's not as much as say...Coachella, which cost me $320 for a pass and hundreds more for lodging. Lolla will end up being even more for me since I'm spending $400 on a round-trip flight on top of a hotel and pass. Altogether these festivals are like all the money I've made in the past 2 years, but seeing as how I graduate next year and will have to start working full-time, it's basically my final year that I actually have time to go as insanely wild with live music as I want. Going out with a BANG. Then again, once I start working full-time, I can probably afford attending the next Wembley. :laugh3:

Haha, I'm pretty sure I cluttered up this thread with countdowns to my own shows, so it's perfectly okay. :laugh3: Lollapalooza's early bird passes need to go on sale already. You save like 40 bucks doing early bird. Apparently the full line-up won't be released until the end of April, but I'm already super anxious. Fly to Lolla. That's what I'm doing.

Lots of students who graduated from my high school ended up going to UC Santa Cruz (we're a few hours down the coast), though none of those were close friends of mine or anything. In fact, I'm pretty sure they were hippies, so I guess it's appropriate. Muse needs to start touring again so we have on-topic stuff to actually talk about. U2 support dates soon, but I'm not expecting anything majorly shocking since South America hasn't even gotten anything off The Resistance yet.

I can't stand the smell of weed. Several people have offered me a "hit", and I'm not upset about refusing every offer. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever been to a single concert where I didn't smell weed, and I've been to quite a few shows. May just be the LA area, who knows. But I don't need the experience enhanced like that.

Yeah, I think I only drank just once or twice prior to turning 21, and even on my 21st birthday, I didn't get that hammered. Unfortunately, because I refused to get stupidly drunk on my 21st birthday, I was ridiculed by a bunch of "friends" I invited for being a pansy (don't worry, they aren't my friends anymore :nice:). They're the same people who regularly drank in the dorms against campus policies, and recently moved off campus just so they could get plastered every night and not study. Dumbasses. Most of my friends on campus now are non-drinkers, so I don't have that problem anymore. I can't say the same about my Muser friends (NSC is not a good song, but when you're drunk, it's an awesome song), but at least they're not jerks when it comes to drinking pressure because Musers are actually cool. :D

I'm not supposed to have milk. But whatever, I like my cereal dry anyway. :P BTW, last night a bunch of Musers and I got unbelievably drunk on Skype and it was awesome. (This week is my spring break, and since alcohol is banned on campus, it's the one time during the semester when I can actually drink.) There was undignified singing and we kept laughing at stupid jokes about Dom's sexuality (we firmly believe that Dom's now more of a man than Matt after Matt was shown on American Idol and thereby lost his last ounce of masculinity).

Small Reminders/Updates & The Coldplay Messenger (feat. Roadie #42!)
October 10th is a Monday, and aren't albums generally released in the UK on Mondays? Could happen. Tis my birthday week also, which has nothing to do with anything, I just felt like saying it. :P Oh well, at least our crackpot theories will (hopefully) never reach the vast conspiracies going on with The King of Limbs. :laugh3:

I got a tweet sent to my phone this morning that woke me up. It was from Muse and I got excited. Then I saw it was about wanting fans to vote in this MTV thing so they get some phony award that means absolutely nothing. I immediately went back to bed.

MTV's Musical March Madness // COLDPLAY V SUM41 (2nd round - VOTE VOTE VOTE!)
Didn't Coldplay lose to something like Tokio Hotel last year? Yeah, vote isn't worth my time, as if the word "MTV" wasn't enough to repel me. My time is clearly better spent complaining about the bracket on a message board.

Yeah, that's a toughie. It seems like Glorious is the only non-Hullabaloo B-side they threw on there. Stockholm vs. Darkshines and CE vs. Blackout are also difficult. Most of the others in Round 2 feature two awesome songs against one another, but one clearly being superior.

Small Reminders/Updates & The Coldplay Messenger (feat. Roadie #42!)
Combined with the UFO text on the newspaper, this UFO stuff could signify something...something the rest of you can go ahead and speculate about because I don't feel like it. Hypnofeed...Studiofeed...lots of feed.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
While I'm not participating in this bracket thing, I can't say I'm too bothered by most of the results, with awesome tracks like Blackout, Ruled By Secrecy, and MotP making it past tough competitors and DEAD STAR LOST TO KNIGHTS OF CYDONIA ARE YOU SKANKS SERIOUS? I mean, putting 95% of Muse songs against Knights is probably a death wish, so that's just unfortunate seeding, but Dead Star going down in Round 1 is still quite painful. I like The Small Print more than Unintended. :embarrassed: Yes. I love Cave and all, but choice is clear.

Jonny's guitar skills peaked in the Rush of Blood Era
I suppose I'm a little unclear on what we're using to define "skills". If we mean the most impressive showcase of his abilities, then yes, I'd agree that AROBTTH and the live tracks played then featured the most present and complex guitar work. But I seriously doubt his skills have somehow deteriorated since then, especially since we haven't seen Coldplay perform songs like AROBTTH recently. More Jonny in the future would be nice, though I don't necessarily think it has to be "more difficult" guitar.

Coldplay's Twitter
LRLRL obviously won't be up forever, but if it were to be removed in favor of a new era, I would think they'd first notify everyone of the timeframe people would have where they can still download it. So yes, I agree in that I think it does indicate that they have upcoming projects ready to launch, but probably not too soon. In addition, they've probably gained some new fans in the two years it's been since LRLRL was first released (I can't believe it's been that long!), so newcomers definitely want to get their hands on it while they still can.

The Strokes
The Strokes' site is also now streaming it, meaning they were probably just waiting for the inevitable leak so that they could put the stream it and curb attention away from download temptation, which more and more artists have started to do after leaks. It's difficult to anticipate when a leak will happen, but you know it will happen at one point. Edit: Hmm...conspiracy theories? Interesting. Whatever.
