[5-Aug-2011] Coldplay @ Lollapalooza Festival, Chicago
Yeah, if you're willing to maintain a list, you can add me too. :) That said, chances are I won't be able to any big meet-up with any of you since I'm already meeting up with so many other people I've met at gigs in the past as well as the Muse fans. And I probably won't be getting barrier for Coldplay anyway. Unless some Coldplayers of legal drinking age want to hit a bar or something after Coldplay performs, but I'd probably prefer to rest up for the next day (hence why I'm arriving a few days before the festival - get my sight-seeing and bar-hopping out of the way at the beginning :P).

30 Day Song Challenge - DAY 01-DAY 30
I full-on cried at a Muse concert once but that was more out of sheer joy about hearing a particular song. Also, crying at Muse probably isn't very manly. Instead I'll give you one that actually makes me sad and makes me cry in a MANLY fashion: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NSMAmiMOBM]YouTube - Something Vague by Bright Eyes[/ame] I could probably make an entire playlist of tearjerking Bright Eyes songs.

NBA PLAYOFFS 2011
Go Lakers. Also, stop loafing around and end this 1st round series already. That said, I'm counting on one of you out east to knock out Miami. Even if it's Boston, and I hate Boston. As for the west, I was really hoping the Spurs would knock out the Thunder, who I believe are the Lakers' biggest threat in spite of their #4 seed. But if this potential 1st round upset happens, then I guess I have to root for...the Grizzlies? Good God, I can't even type that without bursting into laughter.

[5-Aug-2011] Coldplay @ Lollapalooza Festival, Chicago
While I'm not expecting many rarities either, I still haven't heard Trouble or Shiver live, which were performed at the holiday shows and I consider fair game. Really, Parachutes needs more love in general at live shows. But if they decide to say screw all rules and play Amsterdam, I might drown the crowd in my tears. Also, I've decided I'm NOT going to camp out on the barrier all day for Coldplay. I'm already doing that for Muse with a bunch of friends, and there's too many acts I want to see at the festival for me to spend 2 of my 3 days not moving on a sweaty barricade. I'll stick it out for the few acts leading up to Coldplay in order to ensure a good spot, but I'll live fine with not being the #1 closest person. BTW, my predicted day for Coldplay is Saturday. Foo Fighters are heavily rumored for Sunday, while Muse plays Kansas on Saturday so they'll probably go Friday (they move to the west coast after that, so it's logical geographically). Eminem will squeeze in somewhere.

Lollapalooza 2011
And people complained about Coachella being "too hipster". :laugh3: Decent amount of artist overlap with Coachella (and Bonnaroo), but having seen a lot of those artists before tells me who I wouldn't mind seeing again and who I can safely steer clear from. Going for as many new acts as I can, but Bright Eyes and TDCC have impressed me enough that I'll watch them again. Oh yeah, and all of you should check out Cults whether you're going or not. No questions, just do what I say, okay? Before anyone brings her up, I will tell you right now that Best Coast is a snoozer live. If you so desire, you can take your sexiest picture of Bethany Cosentino and then move on to the next set and miss nothing. I don't smoke weed, but even I can tell you that better excuses to smoke exist.

[5-Aug-2011] Coldplay @ Lollapalooza Festival, Chicago
I'm extremely glad I booked a hotel at the beginning of the year. 5 nights at Travelodge for $800 for a 3-person deluxe room. (Yeah, we're arriving a bit early to do some sight-seeing before the festival) I didn't book a flight until about a month ago, so I didn't really hit any bargains there, but I can't assume they would have gone down in price. Basically, everyone from the Muse board had been planning an invasion of this festival for months. Most of them happen to also be Coldplay fans, though, so meeting all my old Muser friends again plus meeting some of you Coldplayers is gonna make this the greatest travel expenditure of my life. :D

[5-Aug-2011] Coldplay @ Lollapalooza Festival, Chicago
I bought my 3-day pass earlier this month, completely unaware that Coldplay would be there. Best unexpectedly awesome decision ever.

Lollapalooza 2011
Full lineup within the hour, but major bombshells have been dropped. Coldplay, Muse, Foo Fighters, Eminem, My Morning Jacket, etc. http://www.lollapalooza.com/ So stoked. Been planning a trip to this festival since last year. THE LINEUP:

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Kansas show announced. It takes place during one of the Lolla days, meaning I'll still be in Chicago and will have to settle with seeing them just 2 or 3 times this year. Seriously, take a look at some of the travels that .mu folks do, and you'll realize how little 2-3 shows actually is. :P

Music hates itself.
After reading the title, I expected a parody topic in which music gives itself a Pitchfork review. Though this is a quality discussion as it is. :) You know, for as many people who say "Everything on the radio sucks!", they should be thankful they suddenly have non-radio options open to them. (non-local, of course) Thanks to the Internet, you can now create radio stations that cater exclusively to your taste, and with so many newer cars being included with digital music support, you have that option on-the-go as well. Whether standard radio is dying is another topic, of course. I guess I'm a little guilty of thinking strictly within my elitism sometimes. For example, I listened to Linkin Park in middle school. I now hate Linkin Park and will mock them whenever the opportunity arises. That doesn't change the fact that I did listen to them at one point, though. Everyone's taste changes over time.

Arcade Fire
I literally let out a shriek when "My Body is a Cage" started on the stream. Incredibly envious of everyone there.

Concerts/Artists you have seen/Are planning to see
Thanks to Coachella, my list of seen artists has probably doubled: Angus & Julia Stone Animal Collective Arcade Fire Best Coast Biffy Clyro The Black Keys (x2) Brandon Flowers The Bravery Bright Eyes Broken Bells Broken Social Scene Cage the Elephant Coldplay (x2) Crystal Castles CSS Cults The Dodos Duran Duran Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros Ellie Goulding Florence & the Machine Foals Interpol The Joy Formidable Metric (x2) The Morning Benders Mumford & Sons Muse (x3) The National The New Pornographers Passion Pit (x2) Phoenix (x2) PJ Harvey Snow Patrol Stars The Strokes Tame Impala The Temper Trap Two Door Cinema Club U2 Vampire Weekend (x2) White Rabbits 311 As before, I'm seeing Florence and U2 again in June, followed by whoever I can catch at Lollapalooza and Outside Lands.

Coachella 2011
Black Keys were my favorite set on Friday. I'd seen them once before, but they brought their A-game to Coachella and were even better than the last time. Some people were complaining that their sound was too low since Brandon Flowers' set was bleeding into it at the same time, but I guess I was in a good enough spot to hear well. PJ Harvey overlapped with the first few songs of Kanye, and I'd honestly rather see PJ Harvey. She went on before The Strokes finished so I missed like the first 4 songs, but I was still happy to catch "Written on the Forehead" - my favorite off the new album - plus a bunch of oldies.

Coachella 2011
Oh dear...my friend and I split up briefly because he wanted to see Death From Above and I wanted to see The National, and he said it was the craziest crowd all weekend, and not in a good way. I swiftly bolted back to the main stage at the end of Duran Duran's set, and since a lot of people in that crowd were age 30+ and sorta just relaxing and soaking in the nostalgia, it was pretty easy creeping ahead of a lot of them. But seriously, I was deep enough into the audience that I was getting suffocated trying to penetrate that incoming Kanye crowd.

Coachella 2011
Had a few FB friends post that one. (fairly funny, though the funniest aspect may be so many people not realizing ChristWire is a parody/satire site) That was my exact situation for Arcade Fire. I camped out in front on Saturday until Broken Social Scene ended, then suddenly with no explanation, everyone got extremely rowdy and you couldn't move or breathe, so we moved back behind the second barricade for safety purposes and were fine from that point. I've never had that problem at a standard concert, though festival atmospheres are different. But yes, The Strokes were awesome. Pleasantly surprised by the amount of "Is This It?" material. Getting out of there after Strokes and before Kanye was ridiculous, though. For every person leaving The Strokes, there were like 5 people entering for Kanye, so it was extremely difficult to push my way back out. Glad you had fun too, though! :)

Arcade Fire shit all over Coldplay's balls
Indeed. And that, my friend, takes a lot of balls.

Chris' hair
Maybe we should now refer to him as Chrissy Martin.

When do you think LP5 will come out?
I spend so much more time in WoM these days that I forgot Coldplay even exists and that we were worked up over vague LP5 details. C'mon, Coldplay, stop toying with people's emotions. You'll only prove the haters right when it comes to claims that you promote whining. :laugh3:

Eddie's music taste
He's got that Benjamin Button thing going on. He liked Backstreet Boys and Hanson when he was 50.

Arcade Fire shit all over Coldplay's balls
As someone who has both whacked the Yellow balloons at a Coldplay concert and also got pelted in the head by a flurry of these Arcade Fire balls, they're honestly about the same size. I know, I completely killed the humor and was lost on it being a joke. I'm sorry. By the time the first bombs fell, we were already bored.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
I got an idea. :speechless: (it's sorta cheesy but not telling atm so nobody steals it :P) I'll wait until I'm less sick to record it, though. I look and sound like crap today.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
I feel like I'm obligated to make a video. I've webcammed some pretty ridiculous Muse-related shenanigans (which I'm NOT sharing right now :P). I just need to think of something more flattering than "Muse is my favorite band featuring a meerkat, a stick, and a dude who's never heard of a condom."
