  2. Yeah, I got a question answered during the Exeter one also. Got a pretty entertaining answer about counting butterflies or something (I'll have to dig it up). Hopefully they'll do Q&A again with different people. Makes the blog that much more entertaining. Anyway, hopefully I can get up early enough for tomorrow's, but I'm free all day (especially since I'm sick right now). Monday is questionable, as I don't know whether I'm going to be gone or not. If I am, I hope you guys have fun.
  3. Hope everyone going to the shows has a stellar time. If I recall, these blogs have generally started before I've woken up, so hopefully I won't miss too much if I choose to value my beauty sleep over Coldplay (massive shame, I realize).
  4. ^ Very pretty! :) Did anyone else catch the Live on Letterman webcast last night? She played 9 songs and you can watch it again here: http://www.cbs.com/late_night/liveonletterman/florence/video/ I'm totally in love with her BTW.
  5. ^^^ I believe that list in the spoiler tags is merely by release date, not order of greatness. Though I agree with you regardless. I predict Contra and The Suburbs won't make the Top 10, though. Just have a feeling. I'd expect to see Big Boi and Ariel Pink near the top. Don't care for either, but whatever.
  6. Pretty cool honor. I'd say his chances are slim given how much competition he has, and I haven't actually heard the song that's nominated, but it's nice to see the Oscars recognize him anyway. :)
  7. Trouble being rehearsed? And...properly (i.e. not in the C-stage fashion)? THANK THE HEAVENS. :D
  8. Oh man, those were the days. Endless spammage of both this forum and to Anchorman and whatever guests he would have. I recall getting a question answered from their tour manager, which was pretty cool. I'll have to join in on this, for old time's sake. :)
  9. I actually got to watch Kevin & Bean interview these guys outside the venue the other day at Almost Acoustic, and though it was only a couple minutes, they did ask what was in store for the future. If I can recall the interview, James said he'd be focusing on a new Shins album next year before anything, but he seemed to imply that Broken Bells has been much more successful than he expected. So yeah, vague answers, but I'm optimistic. Oh yeah, the show itself was brief but very good. They only got a 5-song set but used it wisely. They played October, The Ghost Inside, Vaporize, a new song (pretty sure it was Meyrin Fields), and The High Road.
  10. Updated list (trying to catch up with the rest of you since I've only been going to concerts for 2 years now): The Black Keys Brandon Flowers The Bravery Broken Bells Coldplay (x2) Florence & the Machine Metric (x2) Muse (x3) The New Pornographers Passion Pit (x2) Phoenix (x2) Snow Patrol Stars The Temper Trap U2 Vampire Weekend (x2) 311 Didn't include most support acts, though. Was supposed to see Arcade Fire a few months ago, but alas, school conflicted.
  11. These guys were my biggest surprise of KROQ ACX the other night. I came in having downloaded their album but not really having listened to it often outside of Sweet Disposition and Fader. I came out extremely impressed by their live performance and quite excited for what these guys have in store for the future (which they said they would be working on shortly). I was a casual fan beforehand, but now I'm fully on the Temper Trap bandwagon. :)
  12. Even at only 6 songs, the KROQ show was phenomenal and really makes me regret missing out on earlier shows. Her voice translates very well live and had me quite emotional at times (especially during Cosmic Love). She played: - Drumming Song - Cosmic Love - Blinding - Heavy in Your Arms - Howl - Dog Days Are Over I took quite a few pics from my orchestra seats (pit tickets could only be won through the radio station), but here's the cream of the crop:
  13. The only other song he did at the end was a slightly remixed Mr. Brightside. I was at that particular show and I thought he was...somewhat dull, to be honest. I don't flat-out dislike his solo stuff, but I definitely prefer him with The Killers, which is apparent by the fact that his Killers covers didn't feel satisfying enough, and were more like crowd-pleasers than anything.
  14. Phenomenal show, even though I unfortunately missed most of Phoenix's set thanks to attempting to sneak around backstage (was unsuccessful but made it to the VIP patio, felt bad for not recognizing the celebrities there). :P Neon Trees aside, I thought every band brought something big, with the most notable ones being Florence (was so stoked to finally see her), Vampire Weekend, Broken Bells, and my biggest surprise of the night - The Temper Trap (who I knew were good, but ended up way better live than I ever expected). Brandon Flowers was okay, but it's telling that the best songs of his set were Killers songs. I'll provide a few pics later, as I was relatively close to the stage but over to the side.
  15. They're past their prime, but the Smashing Pumpkins have enough classics to last them until the end of their careers. :) Gonna leave in a couple hours to meet up with a few friends and hang out before the show. They sell merch from every band there, so I'm hoping the wad of cash I withdrew yesterday will be enough. Gonna be fun!

  18. I haven't posted in here for 5 months, so I'm checking in to say that I'm still alive before I go back into hibernation for another five months. :P Hopefully a new album next year will give me reason to be more active. Can't wait!
  19. Night 1 doesn't have too much appeal to me, but Night 2 is undeniably sexy. So sexy that I can't watch the webcast because I'll actually be there. :D Note that there's an inconsistency with Florence's time slot, who is slated as 3rd in the show program but listed as 5th on the online schedule. We also have rumors of a surprise guest appearing on Night 2, not only given how past years have had special guests, but because Night 2's schedule isn't as long as Night 1's. I'll take some pics for y'all. :)
  20. Seeing as how Bliss and B&H are my #1 and #2 favorite songs respectively, the choice would be obvious for me (even though I've gotten Bliss once, I'd still kill for it again). Still, I'm itching to see CE one of these days. Too bad I'll have to wait until at least their next tour. Muse seems to have done Sydney intelligently, though, spreading the rarities evenly over the two nights. There were some Dead Star rumors according to someone who met Matt and asked him about it, but I think some people took that as a bit too factual.
  21. I read the most recent two pages and promptly left. There's like 50 more pages of that probably. I mean, a Twitter campaign barrage of nasty comments? Seriously, guys? Sure, I'm as envious as anyone else on the boards, but something like that is going to make the rest of us fans look like obnoxious brats. (I love how I use Coldplaying as an outlet for venting about .mu. I have to admit that I've complained about Coldplaying once or twice on .mu's Coldplay thread, though not recently. I'm a back-stabbing SOB. :laugh3:) The eucalyptus pic is the funniest one. :laugh3:
  22. :shocked2::shocked2::shocked2: Butterflies & Hurricanes? Citizen Erased? Bliss? Take a Bow? FREAKING SUNBURN? All at the same dang show? :shocked2::shocked2::shocked2: It's like someone flicked the time machine on and we reverted to 4 years ago. I mean, I know I predicted that the 2nd night would have some differences with the 1st, but SHEESH. Even without New Born or Stockholm Syndrome, SHEESH. I guess if it's any consolation to the rest of us, Australia DID have to wait this whole time for some proper, non-festival shows. (Did anyone see those Twitpics yesterday? Hysterical.)
  23. This. In terms of Coldplay singles that made it huge, Clocks is still one of my favorites. Yet it's still outclassed by a few songs on its album, and Amsterdam is the biggest shining example.
  24. Glad you had an awesome time! Queuing in line with other hardcore fans is always a blast, especially with the ones who get there before the crack of dawn. I'm always stunned by the amount of Muse knowledge that some of these fans have (i.e. names of Chris's kids, the guitars that were used years ago, knowledge of past setlists, etc.), which clearly puts my obsession to shame. (For whatever reason, the rarities seem to pop out at Night #2's of back-to-back dates in the same city, so I'd keep an eye on tonight.)
  25. Have an awesome time! Hope you get some awesome songs to make up for the time you've waited! Though I won't lie; I'll be very envious if they pull out something super-special (though it's mostly due to the stuff that Dom said about you guys knowing Muscle Museum and us American fans not knowing it )
