Roadie #43 - The Life and Times (Blog #5 is up!)
Psst...Roadie #43 is SUPER-pissed that he wasn't allowed to be in the Christmas Lights video. He may have to come out of hibernation just to complain about it. In fact, word has it that he's capable of complaining about the video shoot more than anyone else here...and he wasn't even invited! Stay tuned. ;)

Florence + The Machine
I'm not big on any of her competition, so I hope Flo pulls it off. The Grammy voters aren't as stupid as the Bieber-fever AMA crowd, right? ... RIGHT!? :\

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
I'm happy because it wasn't Neutron Star Collision that got nominated. :P Personally, I never put much weight on the Grammys, even when an artist I like wins. But it is cool to get the recognition regardless.

Merry CHRIS-mas, everyone!
It may vary from country to country. Who knows. Personally, I've always heard it as "Tip of the hat". Then again, you don't hear the word "cap" used much in the States. And with that, I've totally derailed the topic, although not much was being discussed to begin with.

Did you like 'Christmas Lights'?
The reason my expectations weren't super-high is because of the mixed reactions the boat people had about it. That said, I like it quite a bit. I'm always a sucker for Coldplay's piano, and I probably prefer it over a couple songs on Viva already. So it's not my favorite Coldplay song by a longshot, but given how a Christmas single could have really bombed (I listened to The Killers' Christmas track yesterday and hated it), this has succeeded in getting me back in a Coldplay mood after not listening to them much in 2010. Will that last until LP5? Who knows. But the anticipation is finally starting to develop.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
So yeah...Muse is up for 3 Grammys. :D Best Rock Album (The Resistance), Best Rock Performance, and Best Rock Song (both for "Resistance"). Even though the album was released in September 2009, I guess that's right after the cut-off for the previous year's Grammy nominations. So I think "Uprising" actually isn't eligible since it was released as a single in August 2009. http://www.cbs.com/specials/grammys/nominees/

New Coldplay Christmas Song 2010! Christmas Lights // behind-the-scenes footage in first post (parts
Looks like iTunes got their problems sorted out, but as a heads-up for anyone in the U.S. who hasn't downloaded it yet and feels like saving 30 cents, Amazon.com is selling the download for $.99, while iTunes is selling for $1.29. Yes, I do like promoting Amazon's deals vs. iTunes whenever possible. :P

3 watches so far so I don't really have a definitive verdict yet, but my feeling so far is...not bad! I won't spoil tidbits of the video for those of you who can't view it yet (though don't get your hopes up if you're expecting to clearly spot yourself), but the song itself is pretty. A shame about the whole Vevo thing for many of you...I'm not sure how to rip and put it in another format so hopefully someone else with greater technical expertise can help. :)

Coldplay to headline Rock In Rio 2011
Definitely happy for you guys, seeing as how long you had to wait for the Viva tour to come around your way. And there's no way they'd come to South America for just one show, so I'd expect at least a few (and I hope they play Chile for Lore's sake ;)). So we have some European festival dates and a South American one. Now to play the waiting game for North American dates...

In 24 short hours, guess what I'll be listening to? :D That's right. I'll be listening to B-roll footage at my work while being upset that I can't listen to Christmas Lights for another few hours when I get finally back from work while everyone else is listening to it. :dozey:

Prospekt's March II?
Exactly what I was thinking, although granted, B-sides are dying in general and most people don't have access to them (unless they're cool like us), especially since iTunes tends to be stingy with B-sides. If Coldplay has some extras that they don't think are appropriate for the flow of the album but may be appropriate for something else, then an EP is an excellent way to put that material out.

Thoughts on the 'revealed' song names for the LP5.
"Every Teardrop is a Waterfall" is really kind of a mouthful. I'm not sure how it's used in the song itself, but simplifying it to "Every Teardrop" or simply just "Teardrops" would sound great to me. "Hurts Like Heaven", on the other hand, is totally a lost cause. "Up With the Birds" ain't half-bad, at least. :) Bear in mind that a song title has no bearing on the quality of the song itself, although granted, it's not looking too promising lyrics-wise. Still greatly looking forward to LP5 regardless.

Ah, my bad. I just tend to stay out of both whenever possible. :laugh3:

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
NSC is mostly terrible, but it's kind of a fun song live. Guiding Light is terrible both ways and is one of the few Muse songs on an LP that I flat-out dislike. And Undisclosed Desires is one of the very few songs that's actually better in its studio version. Other than that, The Resistance is most inoffensive, although the latter half of the album is much stronger (starting with Unnatural Selection). It doesn't have any songs I'd place in my Top 10, though US and MK Ultra do come close. I'm registered at Muselive, but that was just so I could download bootlegs of my shows. :P Yeah, I'm one of those terrible people. I post on .mu semi-frequently, but it tends to be a lot scarier than Coldplaying, even in the general discussion forums. People pounce on you for even suggesting that Feeling Good is simply a mediocre song rather than the outright horrible demonic spawn of Satan (which you are thereby required to believe in order to post there). As for Banter, don't get me started on most of it. I've been able to meet tons of great fans in-person through Banter actually, but that's mostly through harmless meet-up threads that don't contain the word "pornogenic".

The Underrated Songs?
SPARKS. SPARKS. SPARKS. It's not my favorite Coldplay song, but it's one I don't see talked about much at all. I've seen a live video or two of it (not many exist), and it's drop-dead gorgeous.
