NEW POLL ADDED 6TH OCTOBER! Countdown to LP5: The Roadie #42 blog sweepstakes (EIGHTH blog voting cl
October 15th. The 16th is my birthday, but that's a Saturday and I don't think roadie updates traditionally come on weekends, so I'll go with the day prior. I also expect the blog updates to come slightly more frequently now (once a month until the end of the year, perhaps?), seeing as how #42 specifically stated that he took "the summer off".

Broken Social Scene
Ooh, that'd be awesome, especially since I don't think Metric is touring this month. (and it'd also be awesome for "Anthems For a Seventeen Year Old Girl") Have fun!

the bravery
I hated these guys at first, but I was pleasantly surprised by a 40-minute live performance I saw of these guys last year, which left me generally entertained. That's about the best thing I can say about them, though. Much of their stuff is pretty cheesy.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
so like i'm totally seeing muse in 5 days and like i can't even type properly i'm so excited :D Sorry I haven't popped in lately. I'm glad you Wembley folks had a stellar time and took some awesome pics (though looking at the setlists, I feel really bad for those who only went to the Friday show)! I'll do my best to take equally awesome pics when I go, especially since my friend really wants a barrier spot for the Anaheim show (I'll need to convince my other friend for the L.A. show, though). Like I posted in the Coldplay VMA thread, the VMA's are basically trash regardless of whether you win or lose. And besides, Uprising's video wasn't even that great. :\ I think the MK Ultra video is just a promotion, since the song isn't being released as an official single or anything. (not that it wouldn't make an awesome single; the last 4 singles have been blatant pop songs and MKU is a solid rocker).

Strawberry Swing Nominated for MTV VMA (BREAKTHROUGH VIDEO)
Meh. Whatever. I mean, even if Coldplay won, I'd still hate the VMA's. If anything, the Black Keys victory was one of the few deserving ones of the entire night.

Interpol
I agree that TOTBL could very well remain Interpol's top masterpiece, and I'm okay with that, but I thought Antics was also of very high quality, and neither of these past two albums have been nearly as good as it. Granted, I like this new one better than OLTA (on which I liked maybe two tracks), but it's not quite up there with Antics after about 3 listens so far. Favorite tracks are probably "Barricade" (catchy, reminiscent of Slow Hands), "Always Malaise" (captures the "dark" vibe better than any other song), and "Try It On". I'll listen to this thing more times but I can't help but feel it could have been better still...

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Looks like Manchester had a great setlist, but apparently the crowd was lifeless according to some. I suppose that's the problem when a band gets as big as Muse has gotten - lots of folks in the audience who aren't familiar with much of the material, and thus stand around and get annoyed when the more hardcore fans jump around. 17 days until I see them again, and I'm hoping it's a good crowd (though given how dull L.A. was for Coldplay, I'm not optimistic). The friend I'm going with to the Anaheim gig wants to get there ridiculously early, so we can probably secure a barrier spot. The friend I'm taking to the L.A. show wants to arrive later in the day, so hopefully we can still get a good spot then.

Arcade Fire
Darn, I saw the standard cover at Best Buy yesterday. I was tempted to pick it up (I already have the one on the top-right), but I didn't feel like being suckered into buying multiple versions of the same album. I guess I'm just not hardcore enough. :\ On another note, Windowsill was probably my least favorite AF song at one point, but I'm finally starting to enjoy it more. I consider it the weakest point on Neon Bible but I think that's more of a testament to the album's quality.

How lucky we are as fans.
I always thought the photoblogs were a great way to interact with fans. Obviously they haven't been doing those lately since there hasn't been any touring, so I hope they resume them during the LP5 tour. I mean, really, during the news lull, it is rather difficult to touch base with fans, especially since there's so much you want to keep under wraps for the time being. But the statement that interaction is difficult due to Coldplay's immense popularity has some validity to it as well.

Guy didn't have his own Twitter, though. He just took over the official Coldplay Twitter account for a few weeks.

Wedding Bells = Darkness On The Edge Of Town ?
Didn't people also draw Springsteen similarities with Spanish Rain?

How lucky we are as fans.
I remember that Guy was tweeting for a few weeks, but that was over a year ago and didn't last that long. For the two shows I went to, lower level seating, floor seating, and GA were all around $100 a ticket (not including convenience fees, which were another $30), and they remain some of the most expensive concert tickets I've bought. It's gonna vary from country to country and from venue to venue.

Pitchfork's Top 20 Songs of the 90s
Oasis (Live Forever) and Blur (Girls & Boys) are both farther down the list, folks. They counted down from 200.

Hurricane Earl
They resort to using the Greek alphabet. However, they've only had to do that once (2005, year of Katrina and other beasts). And of course, the names of the really destructive ones get "retired" and replaced with newer names. I've always been fascinated by the weather, even though the weather here in California is bland and predictable. I heard a report that it's been a good two decades since New England got a big hurricane, and regardless of whether this thing's eye actually makes landfall, there's gonna be some pretty big effects. Play it smart, folks. Don't hesitate to evacuate if this thing heads your way.

Chris Martin performing live on Apple Keynote!
Did Telegraph hire the Gallagher brothers or something as guest columnists? I mean, most of us agree that the performance seemed out-of-practice and done on a whim, while I personally don't even think Wedding Bells is good enough to make it onto LP5, even if they touch it up with the rest of the band and all, but sheesh.

Update of Coldplay Website / Hypnofeed
As nice as this is, I hope this doesn't signal diminishing submissions to the Coldplaying live gallery. Makes me wish I took more and better pics during the tour too. ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOFEED

Chris Martin performing live on Apple Keynote!
Thanks for the video upload! It'll have to do until a better quality one surfaces. :) ("I don't want to swallow such a bitter pill" is a terrible lyric BTW.)

Chris Martin performing live on Apple Keynote!
This is what happens when I have an online life outside of Coldplaying. I mean, I've freakin' been online this whole time. Arrgh. But yeah, Apple usually uploads their keynotes later in the day, so we'll all hear it before long. :)

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
It's probably one entry per household, unless you have a second address and a second person and a second e-mail...then you can be sneaky. :laugh3: (I didn't say that, okay? :P) Yeah. I'd warn folks elsewhere if it weren't for the fact that less competition is sounding really good right now.
