Are you a bigger fan of individual albums or artists?
Sometimes I don't like everything by a particular artist, but I still feel like I have to listen to it. There are some exceptions. For example, I know I am probably never going to make it through the entire Rolling Stones catalog. It's just so massive.

:laugh3: How could they name a flower after Marr before the flower swinging frontman?

The Beatles
I openly admit that the "1" album is one of my favorites to listen to. I know, it's mostly pop music, but that album puts me in such a good mood. I do like the early hits.

U2
I've decided I'm turning in my extra tickets and getting my money back. I will hold on to my "cheap seats" for a worse case scenario. I will try to get better tickets when they go on sale again.

post non-coldplay songs that make you cry
Man, there is a lot of crying going on. I don't think I've ever cried when listening to a song. I tend to get chills.

MGMT
I liked their first album. I haven't had a chance to listen to the 2nd album. Any good?

Are you a bigger fan of individual albums or artists?
Do you find that you have to listen to an entire artist's catalog, or do you find yourself jumping from album to album irrespective of the artist? If I like an artist, I usually have to listen to everything they've put out. I tend to go in "phases" with artists where I will work through their entire catalog until I'm done. This can be an arduous task sometimes, and, occasionally, you have to listen to a lot of crap. To me, it's usually worth it, though.

Somehow my iTunes found it's way back to You are the Quarry. I love that album.

Pearl Jam
I think Pearl Jam is more of an album band. However, if you are looking for individual songs, I think the Greatest Hits album, "Rearview Mirror," is a nice collection. The first CD has the heavy songs; the second disc has more of the softer songs. Of course, it's far from comprehensive, but in the absence of another logical starting point, it would be my recommendation. If I could only have one song off each of the Greatest Hits discs, I would take "State of Love and Trust" off disc 1 and "Black" off disc 2. In terms of albums, I would recommend you listen to Ten, Vs., and Vitalogy, and in that order. Most people who like Pearl Jam like those albums. Any album after Vitalogy is for more of the hardcore fan, I would say. Eddie Vedder's voice can be an acquired taste, so there may not be an immediate connection. I think he's great, though.

Pearl Jam
1. It is what Pearl Jam sounds like in one sense - after all, it is a Pearl Jam song. I am sure the song is mainly influenced by Eddie Vedder, since it sounds almost exactly like something off his Into The Wild soundtrack. 2. Pearl Jam has an evolving sound, so, no, it is not ONLY "what Pearl Jam is like". 3. Save Radiohead, Pearl Jam is the best band over the last 20 years IMO.

U2
Yeah, I was just going from memory. Usually I see a show or two per month, but I think I only went to 6 or 7 shows last year in total.

Pearl Jam
Eddie's gotten to be a much better guitar player over the years.

U2
Last year wasn't a big touring year for a lot of rock acts. I didn't see many shows for that reason. Edit: On second thought, I guess it wasn't that bad.

I am sure Eddie will do some more solo work and probably play some shows on his own. I hope they don't stay away too long. They represent almost everything I like about music.

Radiohead
Probably only X&Y, too.

Radiohead
Yeah, whenever I hear the suicidal narrative of a song like Videotape it makes me think of sun and fun. I'm just joking :)

Radiohead
I've put radiohead away for awhile. It's too warm and sunny right now. I'll wait until it gets more cold, cloudy, overcast, and miserable. That's when I like radiohead best.

The Beatles
I really like early Beatles, too. I listen to Please, Please Me and A Hard Days Night as much as any Beatles album.

^ I now want to read that Q magazine article. It sounds like there are some vivid stories.

Kings of Leon
Yeah, funny thing is I drove an hour and a half to see them in San Diego and I might not go to a venue 5 minutes from my house. My friend could only go Friday, and tickets are usually easy to get in San Diego. That's why we went there. I might try to scalp a cheap one for Wednesday. Set list is pretty much the same, so it's not like I'd hear different songs.
