  1. Interesting. I've been there a good 4 or 5 times, and I didn't recognize it from the aerial shot. Even as I look at it now, it doesn't remind me of the Rose Bowl. I guess it's because I've never been there without 100,000 people. I don't know. Edit: Also, they must add a bunch of extra seats for football matches. Never seen it that grassy.
  2. ^ Because it's shaped more like a bowl??? I don't know. Where/what is that?
  3. Hmmm...it's interesting. I don't think it's bad, but I'm not sure if I think it's good. It has a very smooth, high production sound to it. I just kind of expected Brandon Flower's solo to be more experimental. I'm just kind of surprised.
  4. What if he wore two Casio watches?
  5. Somebody needs to get him a Casio digital watch. It has a setting for multiple time zones. Some even have calculators.
  6. I don't know where this got off on basketball. I love baseball, football, basketball, and ice hockey. In each of those games, a goal, point, basket, run, whatever, comes with enough frequency to keep me interested throughout. Also, you have to play hard the entire game. No sitting back and waiting to score that one goal in the final minute. Yes, in basketball, scoring comes in bunches, but if you are not scoring, the game is over by the fourth quarter. And it's not as easy as tapping your hand on your head. Basketball players like Kobe Bryant or Lebron James are some of the most skilled and coordinated athletes in the world. The fact that basketball has turned into a game of individual, one-on-one match ups is a valid criticism. I don't like it either; you can thank Michael Jordan for that. If soccer had as many goals as ice hockey, that would be satisfactory to me. It's not like I don't understand the excitement of net play; it just hardly ever goes in during a soccer match. And a tied game in any sport sucks. These are my hang ups.
  7. I do think scoring is the only thing that matters. I don't know how else you can objectively measure the quality of a team. That's why I don't understand soccer fan that can watch for 90 minutes and be pleased with a 0-0 outcome. It just doesn't compute for me.
  8. ^ Damn, that's a hell of an analysis. Obviously, I don't agree on several points, but this whole thing has made me tired. I probably got offended by people telling me how to act, what to feel, or where to go, and I responded as such. No big deal. I apologize, too.
  9. Go back and re-read the posts. I only stated that I find soccer boring because there is no scoring...that's it. Every other post was a response to someone else. Bringing the NBA into the conversation was a direct response to you telling me to "run off and watch [it]..." I'm not going to sit back idly while people mock me for having a legitimate opinion. So, like I said, you stop clowning me, I have no problems with you. The second you tell me to fuck off and leave, I'm going to want to do anything but... Yes, I wouldn't mind you telling me why you find it appealing. I don't watch much soccer, but I tuned in today to watch the World Cup. When it was over, I felt very disappointed with how I spent my afternoon.
  10. To be honest, it kind of has. It's the only reason I'm watching right now, and why I wouldn't comment on the sport otherwise.
  11. Nope. It's all about the scoreboard.
  12. I do have something legitimate to say: I don't see the appeal of a sport with virtually zero scoring. The only thing I don't care about is your opinion of me, which is why I don't hesitate to continue posting. The fact that you are "sensitive" is obvious by the immaturity of your responses. My initial post was simple: I find soccer boring because there is virtually no scoring. The responses to that simple statement were as follows: "fuck you, fuck off, leave, and go watch the NBA." So don't act like you've taken the high road and want to simply go back to talking about soccer.
  13. Because I don't hate football. I'm indifferent. In fact, I'll watch it occasionally, but I can't get into it because nothing is settled after 90 minutes. Scoring is the only way to determine which team is performing better. How can you make an assessment in a 0-0 game? Hell, how can you say one team is better in a 1-0 game, especially if the 1 goal is lucky like it was today? And who says that scoring is supposed to be scarce? I don't really subscribe to that theory.
  14. Originally, I didn't care one way or the other. Now I find it interesting that people are so sensitive. You were doing better when you just went back to talking about soccer. If you ignore me, I'm just going to be talking to myself. The critique is legitimate; I don't care what you say. No, I don't find it annoying when people present contrasting views.
  15. That's simply an opinion.
  16. Because I watched a game and am sharing my opinion. It's a discussion board, right?
  17. Why do you care what one person thinks? If you love the game, what difference does it make? Just ignore me and talk about your soccer. I think it's funny that it's so easy to bother you with what is a legitimate critique of the sport.
  18. You should stop engaging me. I'm obviously bored. So much so that I even watched a soccer game.
  19. Nah, I like this one just fine.
  20. Yeah, I'd much rather watch a 0-0 game with a bunch of "almost" goals. Soccer fans are funny :laugh3:
  21. At this point, either Boston or Los Angeles have an equal shot at winning.
  22. Oh, I will...the NBA Finals rock!
  23. Actually, I see a great deal of similarity between soccer and commercials...boring and no scoring. I consider them both a waste of my time.
  24. This is boring. I can't watch a sport with next to no scoring.
