  1. That's an opinion that's also held by both Morrissey and Marr, but not me :)
  2. What's your point? Are you saying the Edge is not a good guitarist?
  3. I like Roger Water's because he has always been cool to me. People say he's an ass, which he very well might be. But he is very gracious to his fans. I know that's no way to evaluate music, but the fact that he's pleasant makes me like him even more. On a side note, David Gilmour can be a dick. I've never met him, but I've heard plenty of reports.
  4. Yeah, if people don't try to like Radiohead, it's kind of hard for it to happen. For most people I know (including myself), their love of Radiohead developed out of people insisting they put in the time.
  5. This is still going on? Fuck, I wouldn't argue this hard for a band I loved, let alone Lady Gaga.
  6. I don't like "Strangeways..." as much as TQID, but it's a damn good album.
  7. ^ Wow, that's bad. I am not a big enough fan to get into the whole Gilmour vs. Waters debate. I think the reason it is so hotly debated amongst fans is because, like most controversial issues, there is partial truth to each side without a clear cut answer. I love David Gilmour's voice and guitar playing, but Roger Water's (to the best of my understanding) should be credited for many of the lyrics and concepts of Pink Floyd. Essentially, they both made important contributions. Too bad they hate each other.
  8. You mean yet another separate Radiohead thread? Don't enough of those pop up without any prompting ;)
  9. Yeah, I had heard that, too. I didn't know if it was true or not. His voice is not that good, anymore. His vocals during the Live 8 performance suck. Oh well, he's a legend. It's like seeing Brian Wilson. His voice is also shot. But at least with Beach Boy songs, his band can harmonize and drown him out.
  10. How many times has this thread been a Radiohead recommendation thread? I'm not going anywhere with that statement, and there is no implied meaning. Just an observation.
  11. Been listening to the Live at Redding Album recently. This is a really good live album.
  12. There's no Tom Petty thread? Anyhow, there must be at least 50 songs of his that I love. Been listening to Anthology Through the Years recently. Man, what a collection of songs.
  13. I gotta bump brother Bruce's thread every now and then. Been listening to a lot of Darkness on the Edge of Town recently. How can you not like that album?
  14. ^ Cool. Disintegration is one of my all time favorite albums, too. Could you tell a noticeable difference in the sound quality from the streams you listened to?
  15. ^ Haha...yeah, I get most of my music from other people or places, but no one has their first release. That's why I go to record stores - To fill in the blanks for cheap. I have a 40% off coupon that comes in the weekly paper, and I apply it to used music. I feel bad sometimes, but what can you do? I do try to buy albums by artists I really like (even though I don't always).
  16. ^ Yeah, I'll get it eventually. Only because I try to listen to everything by artists I like.
  17. ^ I would have no interest in seeing Gaga live. Those type of shows don't appeal to me.
  18. I wanted to see that sooo bad. I listened to the show 2X from outside the venue. I couldn't get in. Oh well, life goes on.
  19. ^ I will. I go to used record stores once a week, and I saw it there once. I should have grabbed it.
  20. I like the three albums I have (I don't have the first album). However, the last two are my favorite. I just like the more melodic sound. It's the same critique I have of Pearl Jam for the No Code through Binaural years.
  21. I don't know. I don't even care whether she writes her own songs or not. It makes no difference to me. Again, all I care about is what I like. I don't over-intellectualize the process. No, I am not looking to put her in the song writing hall of fame if that is what people are asking. Yes, I do like to play some of her songs loud when I am care free and driving by the beach on a sunny day.
  22. ...according to you.
  23. I am going to try to see Roger Water's "The Wall Tour." I know, it's not Floyd, but for someone of my age, who was too young to ever see them live, it's about as good as I'll get. Unless they reunite...like that's going to happen  And it'll never be a true reunion now that Rick Wright is dead. Damn these guys and their egos
  24. Anyone check out the new album? I'm partial to the first three. Love, love, love STP.
  25. I don't agree. 1. She is a pop artist. Whether it has been Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, or Elton John, an over-the-top image is part of what they are presenting. Keep in mind, they are putting forth an image as part of their total package. An odd or bizarre image doesn't have to detract from one's music. I like it; it makes her more interesting. 2. I don't care how difficult it is to write a particular song. All I care about is whether I like it or not. There are times I want to listen to boundary pushing, intellectual music, and there are times I want to listen to simple pop music. And there is a knack to writing good pop music. I know because I've heard plenty of bad pop songs.
