  1. Yeah, and because it's an outdoor tour, it most likely will be in worse weather later in the year. But what can you do?
  2. ^ they will most likely start axing dates until the point in time when Bono is ready to go. That way, they only need to disrupt the schedules of people who had tickets early in the tour. If you push the whole thing back, everyone has to adjust. This is assuming Bono will not miss an extended period of time. If he's out for months, they might reconfigure the whole thing. My shows are in early June at Anaheim. I fully expect them to be cancelled. If Bono doesn't feel well, I hope they are. I don't want to see a half ass version of u2. I'd rather wait.

  4. I thought this was just another Radiohead thread, but it's actually a good topic. Yes, I do try to open a person's mind up to new music. The music I listen to is not always as accessible as mainstream pop, however, I find that you are often rewarded for spending the time and listening to it. Plus, whereas pop music (the disposable variety) tends to get worn out the more you listen, good, clever, and innovative music only gets better. So, again, I try to encourage people to put in the time because it's usually worth it. Also, good music has opened my mind up to so many things and shaped many of my life perspectives. I want others to have the same experience. It's often a battle pulling people away from the type of music they are comfortable listening to, but I think it's good for them.
  5. It's been a long time, especially for a fan like me. You're hardcore, but I just listen to the LPs. For most bands, I can't be bothered with all the b-sides (although, I think I am going to start picking up the re-issued deluxe RH albums). So this is really a long gap for me because I don't really care what goes on in between albums.
  6. I actually wouldn't be opposed to a new LP. I still would prefer new Radiohead, though.
  7. ^ No, I don't think I will.
  8. If you've seen Atoms for Peace, you've seen pretty much the same set list as all of us. It hardly ever changes. I know, I know...one song here, one song there....big deal. Atoms for Peace must be stopped.
  9. ^ Never really listened to much RJD. When I listen to Sabbath, I usually stick to the first 5 albums. But I've heard his vocals, and he had a great voice, especially for metal.
  10. ^ I don't have that album, but I love Counting Crows. Adam Duritz is such an emotional, soulful singer. I love to be reflective and listen to their tunes, especially "Colorblind."
  11. That website is amazing. Can't wait for this album. Some of these tracks need a serious boast to them. I am interested to see how it sounds.
  12. This is a nice interview that explains a lot. I knew it wasn't Brandon who wanted the Killers to take a break. He's too ambitious. Brandon Flowers Taps Jenny Lewis for Solo Debut News By William Goodman on May 12, 2010 1:46 PM Brandon Flowers has finally spoken about the mysterious Flamingo, his debut solo album. The Killers frontman -- who unveiled the project in April via a website that post that offered only the album title and the promise that it was "coming soon" -- gave his first interview about the fall release, dishing on his decision to go solo and revealing one of his collaborators: Rilo Kiley singer Jenny Lewis. "Jenny's helped me out on a couple of songs, and we also got to duet on a song called 'Hard Enough,' which turned out great," Flowers told NME [via ONTD]."She's always popped into my mind whenever I think about getting a female vocalist involved because she's a fellow child of Las Vegas, too. A lot of people don't realize that, but she was actually born there, in the same hospital as [Killers drummer] Ronnie Vannucci Jr, only a few weeks apart!" Flowers also recruited three top notch producers for Flamingo: Daniel Lanois (U2, Brian Eno, Neil Young), Stuart Price (The Killers, Madonna, Kylie Minogue), and Brendan O’Brien (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen), who produced three songs. The 28-year-old singer -- who confirmed another new song title, "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" -- added that many of Flamingo's tracks were originally intended for a Killers album. But while the quartet takes a break, Flowers wasn't ready to slow down. "To be honest, I personally would prefer it if this was a Killers record," he said. "I certainly never sat around dreaming of going out on my own, but singing songs and writing songs, it's kind of what I do, you know? And I just don't want to stop right now." But the Killers certainly aren't done for good. In fact, Flowers sees Flamingo "as something that will only make the Killers stronger." "I feel like I'm getting something out of my system with this album, but I want the next Killers album to be a wonderful collaboration between four guys who are ready to make the best record that they possibly can."
  13. ^ Yeah, it's very cool merch. I love Stanley Donwood's art, and the Eraser theme presents some of his best work, IMO. It's so awesome.
  14. This is one band that I like everything about but have never given a proper listen to.
  15. ^ The upside is that they have cool merchandise. The downside is that Atoms for Peace won't die.
  16. I wouldn't stress one way or the other. Unless someone in the band gets their feelings hurt, they will be touring for at least the next 10 years. It's doubtful that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I still say you should go to the show and wake up for school the next day. Just be a zombie and half-ass it like the rest of us. Unless you already give half an effort on a normal day, in which case this now becomes a quarter effort. And if you usually don't try at all, you're no worse off!
  17. I agree. It's geographically appropriate.
  18. Why do you have to miss school? Suck it up! I once went to work on 2 hours sleep in order to see Pearl Jam.
  19. Wow...50! My first recollection of Bono was during the Joshua Tree days, so he must have been in his mid to late 20s at the time. Part of me wishes he wouldn't have gotten involved with all his causes. It's made him a punching bag, which he in no way deserves. People forget just how raw and edgy U2, and Bono, in particular, were during their early years.
  20. I believe Me and Julio is actually a Paul Simon solo song. But, yeah, I like Simon and garfunkel. I'm more of a Paul Simon fan. He's a great song writer. I wouldn't say I am a super fan, but I know and like all the classics. I should dig a little deeper.

Not very familiar with them, although I have one of their greatest hits albums. I should get around to listening to it. They kind of have a Journey, Chicago, Foreinger type sound, right?
  22. ^ Thank you. Yes, Cold Feelings is a good representation of SBHAH. Again, I suggest you all check out the album, especially if you like accessible sounding punk or fist pumping Rock N' Roll.
  23. Certainly, A Dustland Fairytale would have fit better on Sam's Town. It, probably more than any other Killer's song, captures the Bruce Springsteen type vibe that runs throughout Sam's Town. D&A has less of a well defined theme than the previous two albums. It's more of a hodge-podge of songs. Not to say thats bad; its simply is what it is.
  24. This years line up is fantastic. Seeing a reunited Soundgarden line up would be the highlight for me. After that there are at least 10 bands i'd love to see. That's saying a lot because I am usually pretty selective.
  25. Day & Age is the same as any other Killers album for me - half is great, the rest is ok.
