The Smashing Pumpkins
[ame= ] [/ame] Damn, check it out, Billy looks happy and is sounding good. In fact, I don't know if I've ever heard him sound better.

Radiohead
i just think the solo version is far more haunting, which is the general feeling I get from that song. I like the old ass piano he plays in the basement sessions, too. Someone needs to take Jonny's toys away for just one album.

Radiohead
I just watched the Santa barbara version of videotape, and it confirmed what I already felt from the basement sessions: this song works better with thom and a piano than the in rainbows version. Actually, I love a lot of radiohead songs in the stripped down form. It makes me wish they'd do an album without all the innovative sounds. Instead, just keep it simple.

The Drums
Usually, I don't listen to new bands I've never heard of. But when I saw the Beach Boys comparison, I decided to listen. I like it, but I don't see that much of a connection to the Beach Boys. Maybe I'll listen to it later to see if I pick up on something.

Record Store Day
To the label, there really is no difference. Only thing you can do is stop putting CDs in stores that also sell 2nd hand music. Garth Brooks tried that 10 years ago. Otherwise, there is nothing you can do; it is a legal transaction.

Coachella 2010
You were directing it at me, as my complaint, I would imagine, is similar to theirs. Look, I don't care WHY the bands I want to see are not being streamed. It makes no difference to me. Them Crooked Vulture and Muse fan's thought process most likely went like this: 1. What? The band I want to see is not streaming. 2. Well, then who the hell is? 3. I have no interest in seeing a single band that IS being streamed. 4. Thanks for nothing, webcast! If they are only fans of that particular band, you can probably remove steps 2 and 3. Last year they streamed Paul McCartney, The Killers, and the Cure. Now, maybe those bands are simply more relaxed than this year's bands. All I know is the following: Last year good, this year bad. Even if it's free, no one is ever grateful for someone giving them something they didn't want in the first place.

Coachella 2010
^ Yeah, it still makes no difference to me. My purpose for watching a webcast is to see bands I like. If they can't do that, I don't care if they offer the service at all.

Radiohead
Hmm...interesting. Well, they are most likely using a studio called Ocean Way here in Los Angeles. Nigel loves that studio. Not only was HTTT recorded there, but Nigel has also recorded with McCartney, Beck, Travis, etc. using that studio. I might have to swing by there to see if anything is kicking.

Radiohead
Really? I thought that record was wrapped from their last stint in Los Angeles.

Radiohead
I would have liked to have seen Videotape. I was going to go to this show, but I backed out. Not much I haven't seen before. I am kind of excited for this thing to be over (hopefully it is). I am more interested in new Radiohead.

Coachella 2010
Guess what? I don't care!

Coachella 2010
I am looking at the webcast schedule, and it doesn't look like any of the bands I want to see are going to be broadcast: No Muse, Thom Yorke, Jonsi, Julian Casblancas, Phoenix, MGMT, Them Crooked Vultures, etc. This is a bunch of crap.

Record Store Day
I went to a couple of record stores today. The thing that sucks is it's hard to spend serious money on CDs. I bought 3 used CDs, which provides no money to the artist or label. I don't know, as much as I want record stores to have success, I look at myself as a microcosim of the bigger problem. I think we are going to see a shift from independent record stores to independently produced albums. All the middle men will be cut out, including record labels and retails record stores. I'm just guessing on this one, but I don't see how the conventional model has any long term sustainability.

U2
Yes, I'm lucky to have seen them several times, but you're lucky that your going to be seeing them for the first time. It's still exciting for me to go, but nothing beats the excitement of seeing a band you love for the first time. I hope it's a great show.

U2
^ Who knows? That sure lost a lot of steam, didn't it? I remember talks of it being put out in late 2009. Obviously, that never happened, and nothing new has been brought to my attention.

Record Store Day
I have never been a big fan of the digi packs. No matter how hard I try, I am never able to keep them in good condition.

Record Store Day
Slash from guns n roses is doing an instore at amoeba in Los angleles and jonsi from sigur ros is at the amoeba records in Berkeley. Artists need to support indie record stores. You show me someone who consistently shops at an indie record store and I will show you someone who has good taste in music. To be honest, I love my iTunes and mp3 collection, but it's not the same as having the physical item. I think we will have a lot less iconic record covers and music related art work in the future because no one ever has the item in hand (it's always just stored on a player).

U2
I would prefer Interpol or the Fray. I never liked Lenny Kravitz. I am looking forward to the show. The Rose Bowl was miserable. Anaheim Stadium is big, but it is far more comfortable. I picked up random seats here and there for that show. I didn't know if it would be a hot ticket. Rose Bowl sold out and I barely got in. I think this one will be a lot less in demand. Plus, two stadium gigs makes it a far less difficult ticket. I still would like to pick up a GA ticket for one of the nights. I've seen U2 3 times but never from good seats.

It's all about jonny and his upstrokes on the guitar.

Subterranean is alright to me. It does fit nicely on okc. I do like me some Airbag, though.

The Beatles
Yeah, I've been going through a Beatles phase recently. I was listening to some albums preparing to go to the Paul McCartney show at the Hollywood Bowl. I ended up flaking (it was on a Tues. and Weds. during a very busy week at work), but it has given me an opportunity to explore their catalogue again. I grew up listening to the Beatles and the Beach Boys, as they are/were my Mom's favorite bands. But everytime I go through one of these phases, I find myself with a deeper appreciation than I previously had. As a bonus, I've been addicted to those remastered CDs. I always hesitate (and did in this case) in buying remasters because, often, I am unable to tell the difference between the remaster and the original (I'm talking to you, U2). Anyhow, that hasn't been the case with the Beatles remasters. They are brilliant and have 10X the audio quality of the originals.
