  1. Yellow. Really, there's a reason it was Coldplay's first hit. Melodically it's brilliant, and who can argue with that slamming guitar line? Green Eyes is nice, but yellow takes this one. By a long shot.
  2. http://www.torontosun.com/entertainment/celebrities/2010/12/22/16643141.html Security should know by now that they can't MAKE Mr. Martin do ANYTHING. :laugh3:
  3. There are better songs on Parachutes, but Yellow isn't the worst. And Lovers in Japan is freaking amazing (might just be because I lived there though. It brings back memories. :) )
  4. Don't panic. Everything's not lost.
  5. A Rush of Blood to the Head (Live 2003) >>> Everything Else
  6. A REALLY good song is good no matter how much it's overplayed.
  7. I read this as "How did you react to the news that Coldplay is over :stunned: My heart skipped a beat. Multiple beats, actually.
  8. Wait...Coldplay has done something OTHER than Christmas Lights and Viva la Vida?!?! :stunned:
  9. That would be awesome. My birthday. :3
  10. Thanks everyone. I'm working on my paper now, and your answers are greatly appreciated.
  11. Christmas Lights walks all over Boots (No pun intended), but I like them both. :3 The best Killers Christmas song so far has been Don't Shoot Me Santa.
  12. Come on, be fair. I personally think it's not their best, but I still like it a lot. The subtle violin arrangement in this song pretty much trumps that of any other Coldplay song thus far (including Viva), and the story the song follows is a nice switch. Also, a tempo change that actually works is hard to pull off in a song without it being blatantly obvious and jarring, but Coldplay did very well this time. The lyrics could be better (Wedding Bells, anyone?), and the melody in some places is kind of bland, but overall it's a great Christmas song, the first I've heard in a while. I'm not saying this just because I'm a fan, I'm actually analyzing the music. You can't just assume everybody who likes Christmas lights is a stupid fan who eats up anything an artist puts out. Some of us actually like the music, just because...well...we like it. Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

    Go with a video. :)
  14. Interesting. I didn't think about it that way. Maybe you're right. :)
  15. I'm sorry to tell you this, but 'Viva la Vida.' is not an experimental album. It's slightly different from what Coldplay has done in the past, but it's still undeniably them. Just because they made use of some new instruments, it doesn't make the album experimental. They just expanded within the boundaries they set for themselves. Kid A and it's twin, Amnesiac...Those are experimental albums. I know a lot of the people on this board dislike Radiohead, but rest assured I'm not implying that these albums are better than Coldplay (although I must admit. 'How to Dissapear Completely' and 'Pyramid Song' are both beautiful pieces of music, some of my favorites). I'm merely making a point that 'experimental' implies experimentation; trying completely new things just to see how they turn out. So far, the only Coldplay piece I have seen like that is 'A Spell a Rebel Yell,' which, even amongst hard-core Coldplay fans, didn't bide too terribly well. I'm not bashing Viva, either. It's one of my all-time favorite albums... I just think it's safe to say that Coldplay will always be Coldplay. They may expand their borders, but they will never truly experiment, in the sense of the word.
  16. SINGING OUT ;)
  17. It comes out at 10 PM here in Hawaii. :/ Speaking of which, Coldplay need to come to Hawaii on the LP5 tour. It's my only chance to see them, probably for years. I still haven't seen them, and I want to sooooo bad. :veryangry2:
  18. "Worst" doesn't say much. It's Coldplay, how bad can it possibly be? :) For me the order goes (from least favorite to most favorite) X&Y, Parachutes, with AROBTTH and VLV around equal. By no means do I dislike X&Y though. It's a brilliant standalone album, it just doesn't compare to the others. Low just needed more wine glass solo. :P What If's chorus is pretty awesome, in my opinion...
  19. I'm gonna be in school when it comes out...I won't get home until like 8 hours later.
  20. What does me being US have anything to do with it? Lol. Everything's Not Lost isn't actually terrible, just kind of cheesy. And Reign of Love sounds like...I don't know what. I like titles like Clocks, Violet Hill, Speed of Sound, Spies, etc. Vague in a way that doesn't limit the song, but strong enough to captivate you.
  21. Honestly, I want some more deep lyrics. Parachutes is awesome, but lyrically...it could be better (just coun't the 'Singing out's). From what I've seen, I think Chris has it in him to be at least on par with Joshua-Tree-era U2. Simplicity is good, but it gets tiring after awhile, you know? And I kind of like "Yes." :/

I'm going to miss the Viva era...it was epic, no denying.
  23. I think they actually might affect each other, but not enough to really make a difference. At this point, I think Coldplay is going to sell more right off the bat, but depending on how good U2's album is, they could be...formidable...on the charts. Oh gosh...U2, Coldplay and Radiohead all in one year. I'm ready for this new decade. :D
