  1. checking in (x10)
  2. Had a Coldplay LP5 dream last night. There was some sort of well-known website that was very credible when leaking music/album information and it said this: "The 13 track album exists in its current form, titled 'Little-Self.'" I have no idea what that means haha
  3. It's a fictional series. Say it's 1999, and Coldplay releases a debut EP titled "Reign Of Love" that contains songs that have the same musical elements of Reign Of Love (piano-based songs, etc.). Essentially, we have a Coldplay timeline , where we can go back and forth and collect any one of the band's songs from any era, and put them into a more distinct collection, based one the musical elements of particular songs.
  4. I came up with this idea last fall while in class, an Alternate Coldplay Universe, where they still wrote every song the did here, but they were grouped differently, according to how they sounded (piano songs grouped together, mainly-guitar songs grouped together, etc.) and that's how they were released as albums. I thought maybe this could help us in the wait for LP5. As we 'travel back in time' and watch the band's music unfold a little differently. Is the idea pointless? Of course it is! Are we anxious Coldplay fans needing something to do? Of course we are! Some might think this 'series' is kinda dumb, but I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in reading what I put together. Let me know, and I most likely will have the first post tonight (I live on the US East Coast, so "tonight" might be tomorrow for some). As for what I would need from you guys....Would it be best if in this universe that B-sides didn't exist (as in every song, including b-sides were released as full albums, say Coldplay has 100 songs, this would make up about 8 albums + a few EPs) or b-sides exist like they do in reality (Coldplay releases 4 albums, and few EPs, and each cd/single has b-sides)? Let me know what you guys/gals think about it and I'll get on with the idea.
  5. With a picture of Johnny eating cake as the album cover?
  6. did the person originally ask the question with the asterisks? or did the oracle do that? If the oracle did that, then I guess that means Alien Radio has some significance.
  7. You nailed the 'God Put A Smile Upon Your Face" music video stance! haha (The 4th picture of you, from the bottom)
  8. I think it would be great if they played Christmas Lights at one of them :P
  9. I think the setlists will be different for different festivals. But I think most setlsits will revolve around these songs: Shiver Yellow Trouble In My Place Clocks The Scientist God Put A Smile Upon Your Face Fix You Talk Speed Of Sound The Hardest Part Viva La Vida 42 Lovers In Japan Life In Technicolor II With these songs thrown in as well (in place of others) Parachutes Politik Till Kingdom Come A Message Swallowed In The Sea Violet Hill Lost! One I Love (BOLD PREDICTION haha) But I'll say the majority of setlists will look like this Life In Technicolor II In My Place Talk Speed Of Sound Clocks The Hardest Part Shiver Yellow God Put A Smile Upon Your Face Viva La Vida 42 Lovers In Japan Trouble The Scientist Fix You
  10. Both Guy Berryman and I eat Special K. I'll take it!
  11. Maybe MTM = Minnie the Moocher and the entire album is devoted to swing/big band era music! haha

I had a dream last night that LP5 was out. It came out in the fall and the album was Navy Blue, White, and Gold. I don't remember any song titles or what I was listening to sounded like, but the song titles were really weird and the music was very experimental. Beyond explanation.
  13. While I don't really have a thought/guess on the matter. I do think that MTM is the album title. I remember Chris saying in an article that the album title "would start with 'M' probably two words." But sometimes people don't count words such as 'the' 'to' 'or' 'of' 'and.' So I believe the 't' is 'to' or 'the.' Reading this topic so far I've come to like Mining the/on the Moon as a title even though it could potentially Viva Era. I also would place my bet on Moment to Moment as the album name as Chris said 'probably two words,' possibly meaning the title could be Moment to Moment OR Moments.
  14. I often find myself singing Life In Technicolor II when listening to Life In Technicolor, though I only get through one verse and the chorus once. I also sometimes start 'singing' the Jay-Z rap on Lost+ when listening to Lost! Anyone else do that?
  15. I think locust7 is right. Didn't Chris say in another interview that the album would most likely end with Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall? And then say Hurts Like Heaven is a song in which Jonny "comes out of his cocoon"? This would suggest that the song titles (well some of them anyway) are matched with lyrics/music. Could it have been that this "latest" interview happened before the one from a few weeks ago?
  16. Trouble would be the most obscure on the radio for me. Though while I was on vacation a few years back, the hotel we stayed at in Florida must have bought Prospekt's March, because I heard "Glass Of Water' while playing basketball with my dad, and then I heard 'Rainy Day' on the TV on the hotel's TV Guide menu.

No, this is not a combination of Radiohead and Coldplay but rather a discussion of Coldplay on the airwaves, on the radio. I'm curious to see what certain songs are still played where in the world, and what songs got left behind. I want to know if different parts of the world play a certain Coldplay song more than other parts. Anyway I'll start. Songs I have heard at least once on the radio (I live in Ohio) Yellow Trouble Politik Clocks The Scientist Speed Of Sound Talk Violet Hill Viva La Vida Strawberry Swing Life in Technicolor II There are a number of singles that I have never heard on the radio, albeit some of them before my time as a Coldplay fan. I still have yet to hear Christmas Lights, as the radio station most likely to play it over here starts playing Christmas music today. Songs that I still hear on the radio Clocks Trouble Yellow The Scientist Talk Speed Of Sound Viva La Vida Politik A few weeks ago there were only two radio station that I could find Coldplay on, and then one of them changed to Hispanic music. There are two other Top 40 stations that will only play the new songs for a few weeks. So, I ask you, what songs do you still hear on the radio? What songs have you heard at least once? How many radio stations can you find the best band in the world?
  18. The best part is while he's busy dancing (during Lost!), he ends up too far away from his piano and has to run across the stage to get there. And he finally does he just slams his hands down and hits a bunch of wrong notes. I know it's coming every time, and I still find it funny.
  19. Thinking about LP5 today and I remember someone said they would like to see a new instruments (dulcimer/bongo drums (LiTii) were on VLVDAAHF). I totally agree with that. I was thinking Coldplay should use more Organ (Fix You, Lost are the ones I can remember), more Harmonica (certain live versions of Don't Panic, and live versions of Death Will Never Conquer). But the two I would most like to see are: 1) more drums from Will, we saw/heard it in the live versions of the Yes (the last 30 seconds or so) and live versions of Lost! where Will is using almost his whole drums set. and 2) Brass! The only Coldplay song I can think of that uses brass instruments is Now My Feet Won't Touch The Ground and I loved it there. It was so subtle yet uplifting at the same time. I'm hoping we hear more of that.
  20. Same for me I've spent more time listening to the song/thinking about it than working one college stuff (on a four hour break no less). Anyway, I absolutely love the feeling of listening to new song for the first time ( as well as the second, third) Right now it doesn't appear it's going to wear out it's welcome, even after the holiday season. I just wonder if it'll get any radio time here int he states. And now it has me excited to upload my Wedding Bells cover to YouTube tomorrow!
  21. Just out of curiousity.... In the 60 minutes interview where we first heard of Christmas Lights, Chris goes over to show Mike Wallace the song. While Chris is playing the song, a close up on the piano shows there was 'Christmas Lights' and 'Christmas Lights 2.' I know it's meaningless, but do you think the song to be released today is number two? or a combination of both? I know the final product has aspects of the first, and I find it hard to believe that both version weren't related somehow. And with this song, do you think this means the end of 'Wedding Bells?' The poison in my blood line is in both. I'm not exactly sure it was meant to be included on the album anyway, but I'm curious as to what everyone thinks. Also, I have yet to see the video, but did anyone who was on the boat happen to catch what else was painted on Chris's piano? I saw one photo that shows it was light blue and had a bird on it (almost like hte Jimmy Buffet 'parrothead' haha). I'm just wondering what else could have been on it.
  22. I was listening to Viva La Vida on my iPod on the way to class this morning and I swear I hear someone speedwalking behind me and trying to catch up with/pass me. I look back to find no one's there. Turns out it was Will's drumming at beginning of the song.
  23. Love the 'jazz-y' drums by Will in the chorus. Also love the time change (4/4 on the "Doesn't really seem like Christmas at all part" to the 3/4 on the presumed chorus). I was kinda hoping that the song would give us a peek into the new album style. But it's kinda hard to judge that being that some of the song was wrriten (albeit the early stages) in the 'Viva Era' and then completed in the midst of LP5 recordings. Anyhow, I love the style, the string feel it has.
  24. There's a Will Champion look-a-like in my Finance class. Today he wore a shirt with a hand on it, reminding me of the tattoo he has on his arm.
