Christmas Lights piano version
Oi for the "still waiting for the snow to fall" part, I know it's definitely a C-based chord, but does anyone feel like it's a Gmaj7-sus2 kind of affair in the album version? 3x0232 on a guitar or the notes G-A-D-F#-G-B on piano? I can't hear it played as a C in the album.....am I supposed to turn the bass up? >_<

Top 5 LEAST fav Coldplay songs (B-sides included)
Wow...to every poster in this thread ever, DISAGREE. :p No, but, what I don't like in a Coldplay song is when they have to cut the dramatic climax with a totally tacked on coda. They do it somewhat successfully in Fix You and Violet Hill, but some of the songs which I love otherwise, totally kill it for themselves in the end (in no order because I do like these songs A LOT) 1. A Message. Imagine if this song ended at "I love you pleeeeeease come home." 2. God Put a Smile Upon Your Face. Should have stopped after the epic guitar solo. 3. Glass of Water. No, we are not drinking glasses of water when we're done. Maybe I'm not clever enough to get that line...but that whole piano/guitar thing they do (especially live) is such a better ending. 4. X&Y. Should've ended after the oooooohhhh although I guess when they play it live, Chris does play some cool stuff on the piano. 5. The Hardest Part. That goofy instrumental fade out (on the album version) is kind of annoying. The solo version is much better about this since it just ends at "and that's the hardest part.."

Green Eyes on Guitar
Cheers. BUT. I just realized I made a mistake with the timing in the chorus; it's Am - 2 bars, C - 2 bars, G - 1 bar, F - 1 bar, C - 1 bar...will update my post. >_> For A Message, that's..actually exactly right. The highest I've taken the B string is to a C# for Violet Hill and Life in Technicolor, so don't worry about your guitar exploding or anything. :) I believe Chris tunes the little e string to C as well, but the song actually sounds alright in EADGCe in my opinion. Random guitar tip: you can lubricate the nut with a pencil - next time you change your strings, draw in the little indents on the slot between the tuners and the neck with a pencil to deposit a little bit of the graphite. Then, you can tune smoother and it doesn't make that horrid creaky noise (which actually is usually not a bad thing...besides it scaring the wits out of me). :)

*The 10,000 Reasons To Hate Coldplay* Game
My trousers fall down involuntarily too often when listening to their music.

Yellow vs. Green Eyes?
Violet Hill. Just kidding. I like Green Eyes best the few times they played it in a full band with Chris on acoustic, Jonny on electric, Will on piano, and Guy on mandolin.

Green Eyes on Guitar
@Jin - I wish I could make a video but I suck at that kind of thing so I'll just tell you what I know about the acoustic part, which is what I'm guessing you're looking for. :embarrassed: When Coldplay plays Green Eyes live, they actually play it a whole step down (so an A becomes a G, a D becomes a C and so forth) and it's nothing like some of the more difficult tabs that show up in this thread an on the net. However, to get it to sound like the album version, you can put a capo on 2nd fret and it's the same. The following might have already showed up in the thread but now it's all in one place, and I know it's definitely correct from watching live videos (just look up Green Eyes live on youtube). Verse: G (1 bar) - D/F# (1 bar) - Am (2 bars), hammer the Am to and from Amsus2 (x02200) Prechorus: Am (2 bars) - C (2 bars) - G (2 bars) - D (2 bars), hammer the D to and from Dsus4 (xx0233) Chorus: Am (2 bars) - C (2 bars) - G (1 bar) - Fmaj7 (1 bar)(133210) - C (1.5 bars)- C/B (x20010)(1/2 bar) The "Green eyes, ohoho green eyes" is just an Am the 1st time and Am-G the 2nd time; the number of times you do this depends on version and personal taste. For strum pattern and rhythm, I suggest listening to the song a whole load more. But you can get it to sound 90% correct if you just strum it like this the whole way: 1.......2......|......3.......4.....|..... Down, down-up, Down, down-up

Wedding Bells NOT on LP5....
And Parachutes. And VLV/Prospekt's. :p I rather liked the song and am a bit sad, but as others have said, it can surely only mean better things to come. :)

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW this is the cutest thing ever. And...your kid's got some good aspirations. Get him a job mowing lawns or summat so that he can save up for that Telecaster Thinline...only 650 quid! :p

New Album will be a concept album according to this BBC interview.
<3 <3 <3 I'm somewhat starting to love this forum. And in defense of my Don Quixote idea...it certainly wouldn't be *that* literal of an interpretation. I realize now my post was kind of jumbled but I was trying to get across that it'd be a metaphor for that sort of story. And.......according to the other thread, Wedding Bells will NOT be on the album. So this "wedding crashers" idea loses a little steam as did mine when the other posters pointed out Spanish Rain won't be on LP5 either. :embarrassed:

Great video! Interesting that he was standing instead of playing piano/organ during the 2nd half though. Not sure how I feel about that. :p

The 'Who Else Would I Like?' Thread
1. Thom Yorke! Love his album / Atoms for Peace. My recommendations are Cymbal Rush, The Eraser, Skirting on the Surface, and Harrowdown Hill. 2. Okay they're not that similar; I just said that because at the time I was thinking about how both songs have a tone of bitterness towards the lover. 3. I personally like Oasis better, but you could definitely argue that. The Who is a brilliant band. 4. I love Travis. It certainly helps that they have sexy Scottish accents. :wink3: Yay! Personally, my favourite is Under the Iron Sea because of all the fairy tale imagery. It's very haunting.

I think the colour green is underrepresented in the Christmas Lights piano. :( Bah, I tried to google images the pianos but all I get is sheet music. >:[

Coldplay INSPIRATION for their albums...
U2 has been an influence though.... I don't see it in Politik though. People tend to say Lovers in Japan and Strawberry Swing are kind of U2esque. And on Radiohead, I know it's a tenuous connection, but some of the songs on Parachutes do have the same kind of vibe as in OK Computer. IMO.

Pictures, webcams, mugshots etc etc etc
Mr. Lick you look kind of like Chris Martin in a beanie. :p :D

Christmas Lights Cover
I enjoyed it. My only real complaints are those that The Champion pointed out - your singer didn't do the falsetto in the "singing out of tune" line but otherwise he did a good job. And...not enough guitar. :[ Loved the bridge where everyone does the oooooohhhhh. Anyways, good job. Great camera work, good piano. :)
