Instrumentals.
Weird. For whatever reason this thread was at the top of the thread index. :O I see what you mean. In that case, this is a quite a useful tool which I'd capitalize on if I had 1. time 2. an electric guitar 3. talent. :p

Instrumentals.
These are pretty good. I like how in your Scientist you played it the way Chris does in the VLV tour. :) Only mistake I spotted - at the end of the Hardest Part, you played a different chord (which does sound good) but in the actual song it's Eb - F repeated a couple times. What do you mean about adding guitar/vocals to the instrumentals?

Hey good job fsa! I haven't been here long enough to be affected by all the things you've done but it sure sounds like you've done a LOT for this website, so thank you so much. :)

Do you play an instrument?
I feel like there was another thread like this. Anyhow, here's how I voted: -Brass: trumpet, played since I was 8. -Guitar: Been playing for a year. -Bass: I don't own one but I know how to play as a result of playing guitar, so every chance I get I play a bass. -Drumset: Again, don't own one, but I know how to play. I'm not that great though but I can play a simple beat..I think the hardest song I can do in full is Yellow (and it's not that hard :p). -Piano: played since I was 7.

Shiver Chris's chords and Jonn's tabs
You play the notes on the E string using your thumb. And then you use your thumb to reach out just a bit more to mute the A string. Look up a video of the band playing Coldplay live and you'll know what I mean. Happy hunting. :)

The Masterplan with lead guitar and bass! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Masterplan, Gem, Live Wembley 2008 - Oasis ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tabbed by: MosesTheMarshmallow Email: Tuning: Standard Effects Used: A crapton of delay during the solo. This is the Masterplan; all of Gem's parts. *Be wary of the rhythm. This has a really lazy swing feel to it so my representations of the rhythm are not 100% correct! Be sure to listen a lot. I've added a lot of vertical brackets to mark the starts of beats to help you as much as I can. Rhythm chords: The Masterplan - Oasis The intro starts with harmonics at the 12th fret. Moses's Tabs and Stuff
Here we are. :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Life in Technicolor ii - Coldplay ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tabbed by: MosesTheMarshmallow Email: Tuning: EADGc#c# Time Signature: 4/4 (4 beats per bar) This song is all thumb chords, yay except for the goofy D barre chord Chris plays when they play the full band version, so I don't know what he's playing for sure. Anyhow, I give both a D and a Dmaj7 which are interchangeable throughout the song. Whose voice is this?
Definitely Will but I can see why you'd think it was someone else. If you listen to the original song or the live version it sounds more like him.
-
Chris voice live?
I think Chris just sings a bit "sloppy" on VLV on purpose. I don't think it means anything major about him though. =/ If you look at the BBC 2008 performance of VLV he sounds absolutely spot on; that's the height of when he took the song most "seriously."

Fix you end chords
The Champion and Jin are correct; but keep in mind what Jin said is in half-a-step-down tuning, as in Eb Ab Db Gb Bb eb. Did you want this in guitar or piano-speak? The chords are: Eb - Ab - Eb - Bbsus4 - Bb Cb - Ab - Eb - Bbsus4 - Bb a few times; On the last "tears stream" it goes like THIS: Eb - Ab - Eb - Gm Cb - Ab - Eb - Bbsus4 - Bb The end is: Absus2 - (Ab/Eb as a sort of transition chord) - Bb Ends on Eb.

Moses's Tabs and Stuff
Oi Jin are you interested in the lead for Shiver? If not, I'm going to consider myself off the hook since Zergio already posted a relatively solid tab. In other news, I tabbed out my own version of Married With Children by Oasis. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Married With Children - Oasis ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tabbed by: MosesTheMarshmallow Email: Tuning: Standard Effects Used: Time Signature: 4/4 or 4 beats per measure This is my take on Married With Children which takes the best of the original (such as its wicked barre chords) and the best of Noel/Gem's version. BUT - this cannot be subsituted for Noel's version since the chords are different in some places; the only thing that's properly the same are the lead guitar parts. For rhythm chords, it doesn't matter which of the multiple barre chords you use unless specified. They've been arranged so that the ones that you would use together are sort of together in columns. Some of the barre chords also work as thumb-on-the-E string chords (think Chris Martin or Pinball Wizard) so just try those too. The electric guitar strums each chord once (or twice-ish with an artful strum) - the idea is that it won't overpower the acoustic so much as give a nice atmosphere. *Capo on 3rd fret to turn it into the same key as the Noel version. Shiver Chris's chords and Jonn's tabs
Oop right before the "did you want me to change part" shouldn't there be a B7 chord of some sort? I'd play it as xx0200

Shiver Chris's chords and Jonn's tabs
Thanks zergio! That's totally spot on (based on the ~2 chords I had figured out so far :p)

Is it wrong to look at tab?
Oh that's so funny because I was halfway into writing my response. :p Yeah..there's no shame in using tabs. I know I did and still do. If guitar's your first instrument, then I think tab is the easiest system to work with. That said, you should still try to understand and make the most of tabs - and you'll know when you've got it. Someone might say "7th fret on the D string" and you'll know right away, "oh that's an A!" What I'm trying to say is tab isn't just straight up memorization; there's still a sense of understanding that you should try to get. For example, you should look at different barre chords and be able to say "oh they're all the same shape." Anyways, thread ignored. :p Soldier on eh?

Moses's Tabs and Stuff
When I figure out how to play it. :p All I know about it is that it's in EABGBd# tuning. So I guess that'll be my next little project. XD

Moses's Tabs and Stuff
And here's the Christmas Lights tab I posted in a different thread. *Made a small edit to the C parts of the solo. 12/29/10 *Added piano outro 12/31/10 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Christmas Lights, Lead Guitar, v1 - Coldplay ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tabbed by: MosesTheMarshmallow on Coldplaying.com Email: This tab is based off listening and watching the music video - it's combines a lot of the piano part, but if you were say, in a band or doing a Chris-Jonny sort of thing, this is what I imagine Jonny would play. But for your own personal use, PICK AND CHOOSE from what I've made. Hope you enjoy it! If there are any mistakes, comments, or questions, please do not hesitate to email me. Thank you! Tuning: Standard The rhythm guitar chords are above each line so you can play those, then the lead line so that you know you're in the right key and all that jazz. And just for convenience's sake on your part and mine. G - 320033 / x10,12,12,12,10 Cadd9 - x32033 C - x32010 or 332010 [interchangeable] Em or Em7 [interchangeable] - 022000, 022033 Dsus4 - xx0233 D - xx0232 I should mention now that this song has a lot of potential for "blending" chords and what I mean by that is that in a few places, it sounds like a C or D chord on top of a G chord and (thought it's a little easier on the piano in my opinion) you can definitely try doing this by playing a G chord for the whole song or taking two chords and mixing them. For example G + D = 3x0232, or C+D = x3x0032, to name two possibilities. So while this doesn't mean play the wrong stuff, feel free to substitute out what I put for the rhythm chords if it sounds good; do email me if you find a good one. I've tried to tab everything so that the distance between notes is roughly in proportion to what the actual rhythm is. Intro/Verse - This is played in the shape of a G barre chord with the root on the A string - x10,12,12,12,10. The most logical place to start playing it though is at 1:08 once the song gets a little louder. (G) e|---------------------| B|------12-------------| G|12h14----------------| x3 D|12-------12----12----| A|---------------------| E|---------------------| Here's a slightly easier way to play it; I'm actually tabbing from an acoustic guitar, and this part is right where the neck gets a little fatter, so I came up with this way to play it to make it lower on the neck. But the way the hammering is set up will make it sound not-as-good because the wrong notes will be accented. (G) e|---------------------| B|---10h12-------------| G|12-------------------| x3 D|12-------12----12----| A|---------------------| E|---------------------| (Cadd9) (Dsus4) e|---------10|--------------| B|-----------|12p10---------| G|12----12---|-------12-----| D|---12------|-----------12-| A|-----------|--------------| E|-----------|--------------| Variation during the "When you're waiting for that snow to fall" It works with a G chord..and a D chord for that matter but I think it sounds nice if the rhythm plays... D/G - 3x0232 - It's like a G chord and a D chord did the nasty! (thumb on E string) *AMENDMENT - After hearing it live, I believe this is played over a C/D - x30032 - Like a C and D did the nasty instead. e|--------------------| B|------12------------| G|11h12---------------| x3 D|12------12----12----| A|--------------------| E|--------------------| (Dsus4) e|--------------------| B|------10------------| G|11h12---------------| D|12------12----12----| A|--------------------| E|--------------------| *play intro 2 more times in the buildup* Chorus - Em7 (2 bars), Cadd9 (2 bars), G (2 bars), Dsus4 (1 bar), D (1 bar) Play this progression twice. Here's a different way to play these chords that might be more colourful: Em7 - (0)79987 C - 8,10,10,9,8,8 G - x,10,12,12,12,10, D6sus4 - 10,x,12,12,12,x D - 10,x,12,11,10,x (Play the D chords with your thumb on the E string) If you're interested in the string part, it's kind of like this. It sounds suspiciously like the guitar solo from Lovers in Japan (incidentally, the two songs have the same chord progression here). There's really only this one part that's properly audible and it's on the "Like some drunken Elvis singing". You could get some interesting results if you tremolo picked this. You can play this at either octave so you can play what's tabbed or what's in parentheses if you have a cutaway or electric guitar. Em C e|--------------------------------|---------------------------------------| B|--------------------------------|7(19)---------------8(20)--------------| G|4(16)--5(17)---7(19)------------|---------------------------------------| D|--------------------------------|---------------------------------------| A|--------------------------------|---------------------------------------| E|--------------------------------|---------------------------------------| "You're still waiting for that snow to fall..." -same variation as the last time that the line showed up (cool, right?) but over different chords. Play it 2 times. (Cadd9) e|--------------------| B|------12------------| G|11h12---------------| x3 D|12------12----12----| A|--------------------| E|--------------------| (Dsus4) e|--------------------| B|------10------------| G|11h12---------------| D|12------12----12----| A|--------------------| E|--------------------| During that same part, Jonny is actually playing something that sounds and looks like this; it's pretty quiet so I'm not 100% on it. Incidentally, it sounds a lot like the verse riff in Lovers in Japan that I've also been having trouble with. D: e|--------------------| B|------3---------3---| G|-------4------------| x8 D|5---5---------5---5-| A|--------------------| E|--------------------| Then, these are played before part 2 begins. G, D/F# (2x0232), Em7, Bm7 (x24232), Cadd9, D The Bm7 can be blended with a D. You play the intro motif once on top of the G, D/F#, Em7, and Bm7. e|---------------------| B|------12-------------| G|12h14----------------| D|12-------12----12----| A|---------------------| E|---------------------| On top of the Bm7 there's a small variation: e|---------------------| B|------12-15----------| G|12h14----------14----| D|12-------------------| A|---------------------| E|---------------------| Here's the short-neck version: e|---------10----------| B|---10h12-------10----| G|12-------------------| D|12-------------------| A|---------------------| E|---------------------| This is the string part for this section... G D/F# e|--------------------------------|--------------------------------| B|--------------------------------|--------------------------------| G|4-------------------------------|4--------------------------5----| D|--------------------------------|--------------------------------| A|--------------------------------|--------------------------------| E|--------------------------------|--------------------------------| Em Bm7 e|--------------------------------|--------------------------------| B|--------------------------------|7--------------------------8----| G|7-------------------------------|--------------------------------| D|--------------------------------|--------------------------------| A|--------------------------------|--------------------------------| E|--------------------------------|--------------------------------| C e|7-------------------------------| B|8-------------------------------| G|--------------------------------| D|--------------------------------| A|--------------------------------| E|--------------------------------| (Cadd9) Cadd9 D (this leads right into Part 2) *This is where 6/8 time begins. Remember that with 6/8 time, the emphasis is on the 1st and 4th beats, so if you kind of "zoom out", you should actually hear a slow version 2/4 time, which is where there are 2 beats per measure with equal emphasis on the head of each beat. But remember the answer is always listen more! The same chord progression goes all the way through. To remember it in a pinch, the chords are: G-Cadd9-G-Cadd9-Em7-G-D-G-D The length of each is: G - 2 bars of 6 Cadd9 - 1 bar G - 1 bar Cadd9 - 1 bar Em7 - 1 bar G - 3 beats D - 3 beats G - 3 beats D - 3 beats Jonny's interlude starts at 3:00. *While I don't think he does, you can continue playing Jonny's part through to the end. (D) e|------------------| B|------10-------10-| G|11-12----11-12----| D|------------------| A|------------------| E|------------------| Counting in 6 beats per measure, these are triplets: each set of 3 notes = 1 beat. Moses's Tabs and Stuff
Now, I've noticed this section of the forum is not so active so I hope no one takes offense or thinks I'm full of myself for dedicating a thread to myself. From now on, I'll post tabs and maybe some covers here and whatever tickles my fancy. Frankly, I'll probably forget about this thread in a couple weeks and it'll fall through and if that's the case, well it was good while it lasted. :p If you have any requests, well...frankly, I'm not actually that good. Send Kapone a letter. :p Here's what I've been up to today...it's Yellow; I'm sure most of you have seen some of this before, but the difference is that this tab includes all of Jonny's oddities and fills from the Viva tour. And I'm almost sure it's 100% correct and true to what is played. :) If anyone has any tips concerning playability, readability, any -ity or feedback. Please do give it. :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yellow, Based on Live 2009 - Coldplay ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tabbed by: MosesTheMarshmallow Email: Tuning: Standard for Lead, EADGBd# for Rhythm; if you want to play the lead in Chris tuning, which you could, simply add 1 to everything on the e string. It makes the bends a little bit easier but I don't think it's worth the trouble. Update, 23-1-11: Thank you to Zergio to fixing some of the verse and importantly, the chorus riff. Update 22-6-11: Added bass part. *I'm sure Chris plays EABGBd# but I think my version a. sounds better and b. is easier. Jin is correct - it's capo on 1 with dmuse's tuning.

how hard is it to learn piano?
One other tip I learned from a music teacher: When you're practicing, when you get something right, practice it twice. Then practice something easy or something you like and can do well. That way you leave a sweet taste in your mouth (and not feel it go down/not have silver lining in the clouds...ok that was cheesy :p). Doing this will make you want to come back to it the next day.

how hard is it to learn piano?
I started at age 7 and I guess things are easier when you start as a kid. But as other posters have said, just try! (I lol'ed at your post technicolor24). Practise and dedication is what it comes down to. There's really no such thing as natural talent so much as there is natural dilligence. Put in the time and you'll be happy with the result.

Green Eyes on Guitar
I mean a full step down from capo 2 or the album version. So don't detune your guitar. Sorry if my phrasing was confusing. The way I have it in my post: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xRkwQ61s1A]YouTube - coldplay-green eyes-live-[HD]-live@ Sydney 2009[/ame] Then, to get it sound like the album version, put a capo on 2. That said, I'm pretty sure the album version is played differently, like some of the earlier posts or the version in Kapone's thread; as in, A - E - Bm...if you're interested, I have my own version of that more difficult version which I can post (well I have to make it first).

Christmas Lights piano version
I'm a little confused as to what you meant about the "now" vs "know", sorry. >_< Yeah I plan to actually make covers and stuff in the new year. Right now I'm working on college applications so my parents are being a bit restrictive so it's not a good time for me. On the other hand, it seems like so many other people are making covers that, as Chris says at the beginning of Till Kingdom Come at Liverpool, "now that Gary Barlow's back, we're kind of redundant, but fuck it we just keep on trying." :p

Most embarrassing Coldplay moment?
Every time I sing a song by them.
