Major Minus Guitar Chords (Chris)
I will attempt to tab the guitar parts.......EVENTUALLY. I'm not too sure about its tuning yet. In any case, this is a rough roadmap: Intro/Verse = Em7 - Em - Bm7 - Bm6 Prechorus = C - Asus4 Chorus = Em - D - Bm Falsetto Part = C - Asus4 Buildup to the finale = Em - D - C x2 Finale = Chorus, when Jonny's higher solo starts it goes to verse chords

Will Life is For Living be re-released?
^That they did for Live 2003. This is implausible but hey, isn't LIFL a hidden track to begin with?

Moving to Mars Piano effect?
I don't know *how* to get it, but I'm sure that's the sound of playing the sound of a piano reversed. I can imagine you can record a note or chord, use a programme to reverse the audio, then convert it to a MIDI sort of file and have an electric keyboard play it. Or perhaps there's a keyboard that has a particular voice that sounds like that noise? I don't have a keyboard of my own to try this though, so good luck with that!

Um. The crowd sang the refrain to Everything's Not Lost prematurely....is THAT a crowd that expects Viva era songs?! (sigh unless my computer lagged and made it sound like that happened?) PianoRocker you beat me to it -this Politik is amazing!

Quick Question.
I'm of the understanding that MX is just the intro that lasts like 15-20 seconds. Hurts Like Heaven is what starts when the synth comes in and Chris starts singing.

What does "Major Minus" MEAN?
Yeah it's a stretch. What I was getting at is how in Newsspeak, the main adjectives are good, bad, and then different magnitudes of good and bad. "Minus" is a fairly basic concept I think - taking away, so it's analogous to "bad." And then "major" is the modifier (like plus, doubleplus). It's just something that came to mind because Major Minus has a somewhat similar grammatical structure: a modifier and a noun (vs 1984's adverb + adjective). Newsspeak is supposed to reduce the ambiguity and shades of grey inherent to humanity and its ability to express itself through language; I suppose I could stretch further and apply that to the paparrazi interpretation of MM where perhaps the media breaks everything down into black and white/good and bad. Just thinking out loud though. :embarrassed:

What I don't like about the new songs
Well it was on the album X & Y not X & X!

U2 just covered Yellow [AT GLASTONBURY]!!!! (Poll added: Will Coldplay cover U2 tonight?)
Woohoo! Thanks for the fast find Osaka Sun. Low quality my bum! Great video! :) Beautiful. :D Bono sure has an interesting manner of singing it though what with the whole no-falsetto thing going there jaja.

Should I Learn Guitar?
On the left handedness, I would recommend finding your nearest music stores and seeing if they carry left-handed guitars, then you can try playing both right-handed and left-handed guitars and see how each feel. Even though you might not know how to play yet, you can still see what it feels like. Left-handed guitars are more prevalent than before, and I'm sure if you put your mind to it, playing on a right-handed guitar isn't out of the ordinary. I would even argue that learning on a right-handed guitar shouldn't be that difficult because the fretting hand, or left hand, does more work and requires more coordination than the strumming hand (the right hand). That said, you will be fine either way! :)

What I don't like about the new songs
Yeah, but then that doesn't give you the right to dislike ALL the songs. :p

NME made a "Coldplay Top 10" Songs Video to celebrate upcoming Glastonbury performance !!
Interesting list... Viva la Vida and Speed of Sound don't belong as high as they do although I personally love both songs. I've never been the biggest fan of Don't Panic; I love the song but I've never found it to be any sort of masterpiece. Most interesting addition to the list is Talk, but I LOVE that song so I'm a little biased. I feel like the list missed out on a couple Viva-era songs that definitely deserved a spot - Violet Hill, 42, Cemeteries of London (which I'd argue is just as "slinky" as GPASUYF), Lovers in Japan, Strawberry Swing, Life in Technicolor i/ii. And I'm guessing the list excludes LP5/new songs, but I think Moving to Mars would've had a legitimate chance at being on the list too. Meh, ten slots is too few to accommodate the oodles of good songs that Coldplay has. :smug:

What I don't like about the new songs
It's disconcerting sometimes, but I think I have to disagree with you on the basis that most of the new songs DO have choruses except for ETIAW, and even with ETIAW, I think it's very easy to jam/dance/sing along to its last minute. Major Minus - oooh oooh, one eye on the road on on you part. Charlie Brown - Light a fire... Hurts Like Heaven - You use your heart as a weapon... Us Against the World - Slow-ow-ow-ow.... Princess of China - to be determined :p Moving to Mars - they're moving us apart..... I guess what I'm trying to say is that the definition of a chorus can be pretty subjective; one of the simple definitions for example is something that gets repeated throughout the song - that rules out Charlie Brown, but that means MM, HLH, UATW, and MTM do have choruses. In the end you kind of need to look past the structural oddities of the new songs and enjoy them for what they are. I know Charlie Brown kind of irritates me because I actually really really like its "chorus" and wish it had more of that and less of its guitar solos repeated, but it's still such a beautiful song. This. Are you trying to say those who are expecting a chorus have erectile dysfunction? :p

10 out of 10, this song is amazing. One random thing this song reminded me of is Animals because when the drums first come in it sounds like it might be on a drum machine + some of the spaceyvibey songs Animals has. But this song really is like nothing else; it's absolutely wonderful. In the chorus when Will joins in singing.... :D The first time I listened to it, I thought to myself, "where is this epic Jonny lead?" but I've realized that this song will be really bloody mega once Jonny gets his hands on an e-bow...
