[2017-08-15] Sprint Center, Kansas City, MO
^ I didn't have any issues this time around. Last time I used my early-bird code from the Coldplay mailing list for the Tulsa show and had some trouble buying more than one ticket at a time. Didn't use the code this time and just went in at the normal opening time. Though I did get lucky and was able to snag two tickets on the first level right next to where the c-stage will be set up, so I didn't spend a whole lot of time refreshing. Did you use a code? It's been awhile since I've been in the Sprint Center, but from what I remember you should have a pretty good view. Agreed about the prices though. Mine were ~$150 apiece this time around and something like $120 for Tulsa (even though we were on the second level) : unamused:

Very true! Coldplay's always been one of those bands who leaves some of their best material for b-sides. In my opinion, GS would have been a much better album had the guys replaced Ink and True Love with Ghost Story and All Your Friends. Great lyrics, great haunting melodies, and just a dash of Viva vibe. Hopefully we get a similar song on the EP!

I thought the same in a few places (I think HftW was one of them?), but I also really liked the drum boost and little flares on Up&Up, especially that bit before the final guitar solo

Oh man I miss that Clocks speed outro. When I first found the version from Toronto 2006 I listened to it on repeat for like an entire month :joy:

I'm halfway through Everglow and loving it so far! Your version of the title track might be one of my favorite songs ever--love the Great Dictator Speech intro! Had this been the official version, I'd put it in the number 4-5 spot for Coldplay albums (instead of where it is now at the very bottom lol) Amazing job!- LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Holy cow I'm only halfway through the first track and I'm already in love- Kaleidoscope EP
Oooh I hope so, though we know the guys are notorious for giving us lyrics that don't actually end up being released :P E.g. the lyrics on the cover of MX- Kaleidoscope EP
I mean, just look at the age of some of the threads that still have active posters! Some of the Lounge threads are 5+ years old and are still on the front page, even if the people who originally posted in them aren't around any more. It's difficult to get something like that on a site like Facebook because by design new posts/discussions will trump old ones--and with no search function you have to do a lot of digging sometimes to even get to those old posts.- Kaleidoscope EP
It's great to see such dedication to improving and growing the forums! Even after all the changes it's gone through over the past several years, I know that for me and a lot of other "old-timers" Coldplaying still feels like home :) Certainly it's no one's fault that social media has boomed so much (and that the band hasn't teased us with anything properly in awhile lol)! Thanks for keeping us updated, Stephen!- Kaleidoscope EP
LOL - I wonder if the guys will give us little teasers for this one like they do for full albums. Any Viva-era Coldplayers here? What was the process like for Prospekt's March?- Kaleidoscope EP
Wait, Keane broke up? Man, their first album was so good. I need to pay better attention to these things :joy: That's a great philosophy! I finally got a chance to see the guys live for the first time last August (and have plans to go again this upcoming August), and it's definitely something everyone should experience at least once in their lives. Though right now it seems they'll be around forever, someday it all has to end, and we'll all be glad we got the chances we did to see them!- Kaleidoscope EP
^ Yep! To be fair though, I'm pretty sure we had threads for LPs 6/7/8 way back during the MX era :joy:- Kaleidoscope EP
^ After awhile you'll get used to Chris saying "this is gonna be our last album" lol. There's a good chance we get another one after AHFoD, so no worries there! Welcome to the family! :)- Kaleidoscope EP
Honestly, that's the one thing that makes me hesitant whenever people say they should form their own label or go indie. We would never actually get any albums! The guys will fiddle and fiddle until everything is perfect lol. That's definitely not a bad thing, but it could make for some long gaps between releases if that were to ever happen! My official guess for the EP: reveal of the art/tracklisting around the end of January or beginning of February, then the actual release around the first week of March, or maybe a little earlier. That way people have time to get acquainted with any new songs and sing along at the concerts :D- Kaleidoscope EP
Well, if we're banking on the EP not releasing until just before their second tour leg (which starts in what, March or April?), then I'm guessing we may not hear anything until a month or so before. Plus, if the guys are in the final stages of finishing it up, there may not be anything to report at the moment.- A Head Full Of Dreams is underrated or not?
I really didn't like AHFoD when it first came out. In fact, on the first listen-through I automatically pegged it as my least-favorite Coldplay album. I've warmed up to it some since then, and there are some songs on it that I do enjoy, but it's still toward the bottom of my list, swapping places with the other bottom two depending on the day. Take off some of the poppier production choices (*cough* the cut-up vocals *cough*) and brush up some of the lyrics and it could be a decent album. Right at this very moment I'd rank them as: 1. Viva - perfection in album form 2. ARoBttH - replace A Whisper and Green Eyes with Animals and I Ran Away and this one would be just as perfect as Viva 3. X&Y - runs a little long but the songs themselves are fantastic 4. Parachutes - this one is chill to the point that I actually sometimes find myself getting bored of it halfway through lol. Gotta be in the right mood for this one 5. MX - this one is interesting because as a whole album I really don't care for it, but it has enough individual songs on it that I like that it sort of cancels out. Why do PoC and UIF exist? 6. Ghost Stories - kinda like with Parachutes, I have to be in a certain mood for this one. Some good moments, some bad moments. Why do True Love and Ink exist? 7. AHFoD - this is really the only album where I find myself skipping through multiple songs in a row. I don't think I've listened to Fun, Amazing Day, or Everglow more than a handful of times since AHFoD came out (single version of Everglow is nice though). Suffers from some production issues. Best song of the album: Adventure of a Lifetime (or the live version of Up&Up) Worst song: XMtS or Amazing Day Song I like more now: Army of One Song I like less now: A Head Full of Dreams- Kaleidoscope EP
^ I eventually want a song each for Guy, Jonny, and Will to take lead vocals. A mini EP! :D Especially Guy, since his voice is gorgeous on that Apparatjik song (plus Will has the live version of Death Will Never Conquer and I think Jonny got a verse in The Goldrush). A girl can dream . . .- Kaleidoscope EP
I'm holding on to the minuscule hope that we get a reworked version of Up&Up on the EP :D We just want more piano! And fewer fake drums! And a louder solo at the end! Also, it's totally not fair to compare Chinese Sleep Chant with any other song produced after Viva. It's just too good :P- Kaleidoscope EP
I've never heard a more accurate description of the old Lounge lol- Kaleidoscope EP
Possibly both. I was actually one of those who left the forums for awhile during the lull between MX and GS, so I can't speak much on the ownership change. I do remember more enthusiasm in general before the MX release though. People were really excited about the Christmas Lights video because the band had specifically asked for fans to be in it and there were some people from the forums who got chosen. Up until the release of ETiaW, really the only discontentment was that between the release of Christmas Lights in 2010 and Mayish 2011 we got basically zero news about the new album. Then there was the hype about the Running Man gif, the intro synths, the cryptic letters, summer festival run with the crappy recordings of PoC/HLH/Charlie Brown (lol), etc. that brought everyone back who had left during the no-news lull. Then ETiaW dropped and that was the beginning of the end :joy:- Kaleidoscope EP
Same! Even though I wound up not being a big fan of the album, the forums leading up to its release was one of best times I can remember. We added pages to threads like mad. I remember at one point we were adding 100 pages a day to the Awesome Random Posting Thread in the Lounge, and the MX release thread was over, like 1,000 pages by the time the album finally dropped. Good times :)- Kaleidoscope EP
^ I haven't been on the forums for quite as long as nvdmm, but I remember specifically that there was a real "community" feeling with everyone back when I first joined. Plus, a lot of people that were active on the forums in 2010-2011ish had been a Coldplayer since, like, the X&Y era, so that was cool. I'm still Facebook friends with a couple of Coldplayers who haven't posted on here in years. Not sure how it is now since I haven't been over there in awhile, but the Lounge section specifically was crazy. Super active all the time. There was one user named Crests that had like 100k+ posts  I miss it :(- LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Bruh that vocals-only version of AHFoD is gorgeous <3 EDIT: Is this available to download from anywhere? Checked the multimedia section but couldn't find anything- Kaleidoscope EP
^ I know it was posted to their FB/Twitter and possibly Instagram? You may be able to dig it up there if you go back far enough. I was basically just the first couple of seconds, cutting off right after Will's two drumbeats just before Guy's bass comes in. We all thought it was going to be this super hard Violet Hill-like jam session song just based on that lol - WONDERFUL ADVENTURE (AHFOD - rearragened/remade by MC01) DOWNLOAD
