  1. If those 4-5 songs were the caliber of: The Scientist Clocks Violet Hill Strawberry Swing A Rush of Blood to the Head Then I'm okay with that :P
  2. ^ Great video! I love when Chris sings Fix You in a lower register :wacky:
  3. Guys we do this to ourselves every week. I'm all for speculation, but don't get your hearts set on "this Friday" or "next Monday" or whatever. Remember, we think the radio silence from Coldplay means they're building the hype, but it could also very well mean that the album is not ready to go yet. Just something to keep in mind :nice:
  4. I do! That one is great also. I need to get them both on my iPod . . .
  5. Chris's falsetto is lovely, but my heart is taken by his lower registers :wacky: EDIT: Okay holy crap I'd never listened to Where is My Boy? before and I don't know why because this is freaking fantastic
  6. You all could be correct in saying that the guys don't care so much about whether their album charts at #1 or #2 for the year, but I'm willing to bet that their record company might be, and they're the ones who have a lot of influence as to when the album drops. If Adele's album drops this year, they might wind up pushing Coldplay's back into early next year just to avoid the conflict and ensure the guys nab that #1 spot (for the seventh time in a row, which I believe sets some sort of record, yes?). I hope this isn't the case, as I'd like the album just as soon as the rest of you, but it is a possibility. And, as big as Coldplay is, Adele quite simply can't be touched by anyone in the music world, so the possibility of the guys beating her out for the #1 spot probably isn't very good. The only thing that makes me think that the album won't be pushed back is the early-next-year performances
  7. ^ Fair enough :P I actually really like the themes in it simply because it's so dark and different from every other Coldplay song in so many ways. If I had my way, I would want Coldplay to make an album full of Yes's just to see what happens
  8. [video=youtube;IYbEBSjYv5k] Here's an ending that can compete with the Toronto 2006 version of Clocks. Last ~1:20 :wacky:
  9. Since we all can't agree, let's list the merits of each song: Death and All His Friends -Freaking beautiful piano intro -Freaking epic ending -Top-notch lyrics Cemeteries of London -Guy's epic bassline -Jonny's epic guitar solo -Top-notch lyrics . . . Well that didn't help :blank:
  10. Oh good. No one was voting for it so I thought that meant that it had been eliminated :P Obviously you all have impeccable music taste, in that case
  11. I just did it because I like the Viva-esque cycle that it gives :P . . . Plus I really don't like Ink, True Love, or ASFoS and wanted to get rid of all of the--oh wait, I just realize I left off Oceans  The one song I really like off GS. EDIT: There, fixed it and now Reprise doesn't have to go at the beginning
  12. Okay I have no idea what songs are in the running anymore but can I just say that voting out any song from the Viva era is a travesty and they are all my babies and you should be ashamed of yourselves for getting rid of them
  13. Musically, I agree since all three of those are (in my opinion) better than most of the GS songs. On the other hand, Coldplay definitely intended to tell a story with that album, and nixing three songs in favor of Atlas, AYF, and Ghost Story would mess up that story big time. Make it a better album in terms of song quality? You bet. Make it a better album thematically? Not really. Anyway, since this is about AHFoD: I hope Coldplay can find a nice balance between telling a story and getting good songs on the album. To me, it seems that for the last two albums they've sacrificed those "good" songs like Ghost Story and Moving to Mars in order to get the album to tell a very specific story. I can respect that, but that usually means we get a few sub-par songs thrown into the mix
  14. I never understood exactly why they decided not to release that as a DVD like they were intending. I've probably said this before somewhere on here, but half of those songs they played during those concerts are now my favorite versions (even ahead of the studio versions). Square One, GPASUYF, What If, HYStW, Don't Panic, The Scientist, TKC, Clocks, SitS, and Fix You. That's over half of the songs from that stupid concert
  15. Yep! I love seeing them all lined up on my shelf. I'll usually buy a physical copy of any album I really like
  16. That might get a little too long in my opinion :P Now, if they all sound different enough while still telling a structured, coherent story I could see the album successfully pulling off having 12-14 tracks. But, as others have said quality > quantity, and I would rather have a 10-track album of great songs than a 14-track one of good ones. That being said, if we get down to 9 or less on an album, that's much too short unless we get a good helping of b-sides or an EP to go along with it.
  17. ^ If Coldplay ever makes another song that's half as epic as Clocks is in both the studio and live version, I will die happy.
  18. ^ If Coldplay ever makes another song that's half as epic as Clocks is in both the studio and live version, I will die happy.
  19. I will forever hold out hope that after the guys officially retire, they'll re-release each album as a double album with the second disc comprised entirely of unreleased songs.
  20. Whenever someone posts a video or anything from that performance I just get chills because no one knew any of those ARoBttH songs and the crowd still goes absolutely insane over them. Like, can you imagine the soft little indie rock band that started out with Parachutes deciding to live debut half their songs from an unreleased album during their headline at Glastonbury and then coming out with freaking Politik? Coldplay banked their career on that performance and freaking knocked it out of the park.
  21. Okay but this is actually a valid theory October 21 or bust!
  22. Same for me :surprised: Like, I recognize that AYF is a good song, but I never can get into it for some reason. I do like Jonny's ending guitar bit though
  23. VIOLET HILL forever and always <3 Shiver is pretty good too
