A Head Full of Dreams Film - In Cinemas Nov.14
Correct me if I'm wrong, but just because 96 mixes are being produced, that doesn't mean we're definitely going to hear all 96, no? Didn't Viva la Vida (song, not album) have something like 20 different versions before the guys settled on the one that we got? And we've never heard any of the others . . . Not to be a downer, as I would love to have a massive album like that, but that seems like such a monumental task for the guys and their team to pull off

^ Coincidentally, that's also when we will finally get The Winds of Winter In other words, we're never getting either one

At least for LRLRL we wound up getting the audio (for free, no less) And I suppose we technically did get Toronto 2006 also, just in a less-official format :p

Viva La Vida 10 Year Retrospective
I'm going to use my 10,000th post that I've been hoarding to wish my all-time favorite album a happy 10th birthday I've never heard an album quite like it before or since, and even 10 years down the road, it's still an incredible, cohesive, visionary work. Each song stands on its own, and no two sound alike, yet somehow they all flow amazingly well into one another. And even their "b-side" album of Prospekt's March is just as good??? Like how did you do this Coldplay?? It's the album that introduced me to my favorite band. It's the album that gave me most of my favorite songs. I wish every day I could go back to that era and enjoy it from the beginning. Instead, I'm just going to continue to fangirl about it ten years after the fact :D Cheers, Coldplay. Thanks for the masterpiece!

I loved the Xylobands in the two concerts I attended, but I wouldn't mind experiencing a "throwback" concert. Although I noticed that even during the "quiet" songs without the Xylobands, people were waving their phones like lighters, so maybe taking away the bands wouldn't really make a difference :P

lmao that is actually hilarious

Love this--and it brought to mind another bit of artwork from way back in the day. What if they use The Blue Room EP artwork, but replace the sand dollar with a starfish?

Oh man, when it comes time for Coldplay to release their actual last album, they need to call it Starfish!

I'm not sure, and to be honest I could just be mis-remembering a similar name of some unreleased song so don't take my word on it :P

I think I've actually heard of that "One Day" one . . . but the rest of those are definitely fake  If we get an album this year, it's gonna be Live 2018 (2017?). No way the guys have had time to record a full album on the road

Those are some old X&Y-era photos (I believe). I've seen them floating around somewhere before but they aren't too common. I'm always skeptical about "news" from fan sites . . .

As someone who lives in what's essentially the capital of the world for that particular style of music, let's just say that would be an . . . interesting combination. I actually wouldn't be against something in the style of "old" country music like Johnny Cash, Don Williams, etc. (AKA the music my dad listens to). Even something that's a rock-country fusion like the Eagles would be pretty cool, and I think they in particular could be a great inspiration. That would also introduce a new way of songwriting for the guys, as songs from Cash and the Eagles tend to tell concrete, linear stories. See "One Piece at a Time," "I Hung My Head," "Life in the Fast Lane," and "Hotel California." But please Oh God Almighty DO NOT let them start getting inspiration from modern country songs :cold_sweat:

Electronic vs. acoustic is a little tougher question because we've gotten both already to some extent (if you consider Ghost Stories to be electronic somewhat?) For me it depends on the extent of the influence and what I'm feeling that day lol. Coldplay already has a lot of acoustic-y songs in their catalogue, but those are the sorts of songs that drew people to them in the first place. If the quality of both potential records is the same, at the moment an electronic-inspired record sounds more interesting to me. Something sci-fi and synthy with some really unique sounds. Could also open the door for more unique (read: better) songwriting with themes we haven't yet seen from Chris. Acoustic has been done, and done well, by Coldplay. I feel like if we get another acoustic record, it's going to tread over old ground we've already seen. I like that Coldplay has the chutzpah to reimagine themselves with every album, and if the end product is good, then I'd like to see them continue down that road.

I'm tempted right now to change it to just "Live Album maybe? Eventually? We're never trusting Chris again, that's for sure"

Oh man I knew Til Kingdom Come was written for Johnny Cash, but I've never stopped to think about how a true collab with him would have sounded Now I'm sad it can never happen

Would a Coldplay B-sides tour be cool or lame?
I would throw all my money at this But more casual fans would probably just be very confused :p

My day sucked but how was urs?
Hey don't worry @M Marks The Spot I always feel incomplete without a half-dozen pens! You are not alone! My day sucked (but not really except for one thing) obligatory post of my own so I'm not just dropping into the middle of the conversation like a heathen: Accidentally cut someone off on the highway coming home--tried to get around them as we were coming up on a (very) slow car and thought I had enough room. I got around them, but their rapid-fire honking told me I probably had less room than I thought I did. Sorry, lady driving the large white truck; what I did was not smart! Though you were illegally camping in the left lane, and you sped around me, honked, and flipped me the bird afterward, so I guess we're even?

===The ultimate Oldplaying Thread===S, BS, TBR, P, AROBTTH, X&Y, VLV, PM===
^ I definitely agree. I think 2-3 could have been cut and some others rearranged and it would have been a much better album. Congrats! :D

Let's go back to the good ol' days when X&Y was the problem-child album because it "didn't flow well" :P I may have to go back and listen to X&Y today. It has some of my favorites . . . White Shadows, Swallowed in the Sea, Twisted Logic

The thing about collaborations is that they can be REALLY hit or miss. We've already seen the backlash from the collaborations with Rihanna, Beyonce, The Chainsmokers, etc. While some of those songs I personally didn't mind, others were just . . . not good. If we must have a collaboration on this album, I would rather them pair up with Noel Gallagher again, or someone similar--aka more rock-focused than pop-focused. Otherwise, I think we've had enough collaborators for the time being, and I'd like to have an all-Coldplay Coldplay album again

Is there any possibility that we could be getting a tour diary to go along with the concert a la Live 2003? Could that explain why it's taking so much longer than Live 2012? Hopefully they aren't trying to get too fancy with it. When you already have so much going on onstage during the song itself (lasers, confetti, beach balls, etc.) simple cuts and editing is best, imo

^ Great post! I agree that Kaleidoscope was definitely a step in the right direction for them, and I'm excited to see if they continue in that same vein for LP8. Maybe we'll even get some better lyrics this time around ;)

pictures from the Kansas City live show?
My friend and I were at that show! Unfortunately, we were kinda far away from the stage, so the pictures I have are mostly of the stage lights and confetti doing crazy things o_O If you wouldn't mind those sorts of pics, I can hook you up!
