Cultural references in new songs...
^ Yeah, that entire song sounds like it's been pulled straight from the Parachutes era :wacky:

The ghost of Joe Satan...
I think that, with Coldplay as big as they are, charges of plagiarism will be unavoidable. As Kover pointed out with his Roadie #42 quote (thank you very much for that :nice:) there are some people out there who just love to see big stars/celebrities fall. Even moreso with Coldplay because they have so many 'haters' out there. I would honestly be surprised if there weren't some sort of charges filed against the guys in Lp5's era. Although I'm sure they won't have to worry about any nonsense from Joe Satriani ;)

You know you're addicted to Coldplay when...
 Me too! Yup. That would be me :wacky:

Yes... it was a terrible mistake!!
Same here :P Jonny's guitar makes up for it though By 3 am I've abandoned all semblance of logical thinking and just jump around being hyper

Maybe I am Crazy
You aren't crazy :P I actually prefer Cemeteries of London over Shiver also. Everyone has their own opinion of Coldplay's songs (for example, I really do not like Warning Sign, although it seems that there are tons of people here that love it :D)

When you listen to Coldplay, you move like..
Definitely Chris. I think I may be chronically, perpetually hyper. I once knocked my computer, a lamp, and a glass of water off the table in one swoop when I was dancing around like Chris while watching a streamed concert :D But during Jonny's solos I just twirl around in place and pretend I'm playing the guitar

The new VIVA LA VIDA
How so? The time signatures of CB and Yellow are certainly different, but as far as the structure goes, they are pretty similar. Guitar riff -> vocals -> guitar riff -> vocals-> guitar riff to end the song. Really? HLH doesn't sound anything like Arcade Fire to me, but to each their own :nice: But in terms of the upbeat tempo and overall feel of the song I think they are comparable. And I think VH and Major Minus are similar because they are both really dark, gritty songs with not a lot of fluff. PoC reminds me of Viva because they both have that synth-y keyboard sound providing the backbone of the song ;)

Princess of China
I think by this point I'm just deluding myself, BUT MAYBE they'll play it at the iTunes Festival!? :awesome:

Release Date
Is this a well-known / well-respected French site?

Cultural references in new songs...
I've noticed several--namely the Wizard of Oz, Charlie Brown, and Peter Pan references Us Against the World has a Biblical reference I believe--the 'Daniel in a lion's den' bit.

The new VIVA LA VIDA
dp, sorry

The new VIVA LA VIDA
To me: Charlie Brown - reminds me of Yellow Hurts Like Heaven - Life In Technicolor II Major Minus - Violet Hill Princess of China - The most Viva-ish song so far UAtW - Trouble ETiaW - A cross between Lost! and Lovers In Japan

LP5 finished in 2 weeks?

[10-July-2011] Coldplay @ Oxegen festival, Ireland
I think we may have to rely on recordings from people who were there for some of the songs--HLH, IMP, VH, and Shiver that I know of. Also, the first few bars of Clocks were cut off Hope someone can find them! :uhoh:

Random Coldplay thoughts...
Tonight's performance was absolutely stellar! Definitely the best of the summer--and Clocks was the best I've heard since the Twisted Logic tour!

Overall a pretty perfect show from the guys! Every single song sounded amazing--Clocks was the best I've heard it since the Twisted Logic tour. Chris's voice started to crack on ETiaW but that was to be expected, since he'd been singing his heart out all night. Unfortunately, Life Is For Living was dropped, but it was replaced with a brilliant surprise appearance of Christy Moore, who sang 'Ride On' with Chris. Shiver was played instead of Cemeteries of London, and we still have yet to see another appearance of Princess of China. Oh well. The crowd, the guys, the entire atmosphere was absolutely stunning, so I think it's safe to say that Coldplay has earned their 12 day break! Well done, guys!
