I think it would easy to compare Coldplay to Radiohead in their earlier albums--namely Parachutes--but that doesn't mean that Coldplay 'copied' Radiohead's sound. Radiohead was one of many bands that Coldplay drew inspiration from early in their career; they, along with U2, were one of the bands that Coldplay was heavily influenced by, so I think that people naturally draw conclusions that Coldplay just copied the sounds of both bands. This isn't necessarily true. Even while drawing from their musical roots, Coldplay put their own signature on their work that allowed them to stand out from Radiohead, U2, and others. Especially now this is evident with Viva and the new LP5 era songs. In light of these two albums, it would be hard to argue that Coldplay are 'copying' Radiohead. Listen to Viva la Vida, then listen to In Rainbows. The bare bones are unsurprisingly similar, but each band has its own identity stamped into those albums--that's what makes each band unique. . . . This thread is just asking for it :P

I just spent the last hour reading through this entire thread and all I can say is WOW. Your art = Mindblowing. The butterflies flying from the light picture is my favorite . . . it's definitely what heaven looks like. Yep. Heaven is definitely Coldplay-related. It would be my desktop background if my PC allowed me to change it :phu: And to think that I was proud of myself for learning how to properly draw the human face :P

^ Agreed. I think all of the guys have great voices on their own (even Guy, which I didn't expect since he's never sung backup :stunned:) and if you combine any of them together they sound even better! (My personal favorite is Jonny + Chris on Politik Live 2003 :wacky: )

:lol: I laughed really hard when I read that--my family thought I was crazy until I told them it was about Coldplay, then they just rolled their eyes. I think someone else already mentioned it it was Poland ;)
