  1. What makes that even better is GS is probably the most heavily criticized of all Coldplay's albums, maybe even more so than MX
  2. Honestly now that it's September (well, tomorrow is September), I feel the chances of getting either solid news or an actual surprise drop have increased quite a bit. Granted, it may not be tomorrow that it happens, but once we get closer to the two festival dates, I will truly be surprised if we don't hear anything.
  3. The wait between GS and AHFoD is a little different than the longer waiting periods between most of Coldplay's other albums for a couple of reasons. For one, each of those other albums was followed up by a massive international tour that lasted 2+ years. Even though we weren't hearing anything "new" from the band, we did get lots of pictures and audio of their performances which made the time pass faster. We also got lots of interviews and in the case of ARoBttH and MX, live DVDs. Secondly, by the time we started getting official news about each album, the guys were already very, very close to being done, if not done already. In the case of MX and GS, we didn't hear anything about the title or tracklisting until a month or two before the album dropped. And thirdly, GS has been generally accepted as a sort of side-project that wasn't really planned until Chris and Gwyneth split. The album that we are currently waiting on was probably supposed to follow MX but was pushed back (at least, that's the way I understand it). With AHFoD it's a little different because we've known about the title since, what, the beginning of this year? I think we've been accustomed to hearing the official title and then getting the actual album just a few months later, if that. Instead, we've been waiting, like, 6 months with no end in sight. We also didn't get the traditional international multi-year tour after GS like we have the other albums. That means very little live material, pictures, interviews, etc. (although we did get a live DVD shortly after the album dropped). Add that to the dozens of rumors flying around that we'll be hearing official news "soon" and it makes it seem like this 1.5-year wait is at the ending stages of a normal 3-year wait. Once the guys give us some official news, I feel that will get the ball rolling and the last leg of album anticipation will feel just like the lead-up to MX and GS.
  4. ^ I hadn't thought of the "danceable" element being portrayed by heavier drum beats and basslines, but I could definitely see that as a possibility. The sound would probably be reminiscent of Imagine Dragons or Florence + the Machine, which to me is really cool. It also has the added bonus of being very different from any sound the guys have tried before. I hope we at least get a song or two like that, if it doesn't wind up being the sound of the whole album.
  5. ^ Although it won't be exactly like MX, with all the news we've been hearing about Chris wanting this to be an upbeat album that "people can shuffle their feet to," I think it's safe to say that AHFoD will fall in a similar vein as MX. We'll have those pop elements, hopefully with a few hints of rock mixed in.
  6. ^ If that's indeed what the record label winds up doing (I'm with you on this), it sounds, unfortunately, like they're going to push it back if anything. Unless Coldplay winds up dropping AHFoD out of nowhere . . . Lead singles tend to drop a month-ish ahead of their albums, yes? Assuming they want to promote it and not just drop the song on us, they might give us a week of teasing. So: If they drop the single on Monday, Sept 7, in concurrence with their two festival appearances, that puts the album date anywhere from the beginning to middle of October. To me, that seems way too close to Adele's rumored date. Of course, the Adele rumors could be wrong, or if they're correct her date could be moved to accommodate Coldplay instead :P And there's the added bonus that if it's released at the beginning of 2016, it has all year to garner sales
  7. ^ The dreaded s-word strikes again :P
  8. :blank: Welp. My AHFoD hype just dropped a few notches. I know opening acts have absolutely zero to do with their headliner's albums, but setting the atmosphere with such a blatantly pop act doesn't bode well . . . Hopefully this turns out to not be true!
  9. Maybe all the song titles will be based off previous ones :P For example: A Sky Full of Stars: A Head Full of Dreams Speed of Sound: Speed of Light Parachutes: Lifeboats A Message: Message in a Bottle Swallowed in the Sea: Enveloped in the Sky Life in Technicolor: Death in Black and White . . . okay I actually like Death in Black and White, so I kinda hope this happens now
  10. Maybe the guys will drop the first single the day the magazine is released? Or that's when we get our first announcement about it? All the "news" we've been hearing seems to be pointing toward September as a viable date for either a release or confirmation/details of a release
  11. With special bonus tracks including: Keep Looking Forward Each Day is a Gift Your Love is a Song
  12. I like the shirt, but I really hope the smiley face isn't a prominent feature on the cover. It would be really cheesy and a big letdown after all of Coldplay's classy album covers. I have high hopes, though; I've liked all of Coldplay's album covers and I don't see why this one would be any different :nice:
  13. Coldplay posted to Facebook and I almost had a heart attack . . . just a happy birthday announcement for ARoBttH :P
  14. A lot of people are guessing around my birthday, so I guess I'll jump the bandwagon and say mid-November also. Hoping it's closer to late September/early October, but we'll see :P
  15. Whaddya think, Coldplayers? Is tomorrow the day? :P
  16. He did? I don't ever recall hearing anything about that. Regardless, people can be "bad" and make great music, or "good" and make awful music. Likewise, people can change, and sometimes their music reflects that.
  17. Please no :uhoh: I'm thinking Glass of Water meets ETiaW?
  18. ^ I've always thought of Coldplay's albums this way as well, and I'm the same as you in that the "original trilogy" is my favorite, but Viva is my favorite overall album/era. Here's to hoping that AHFoD is similar to the other two trilogy openers of Parachutes and Viva. Although since Coldplay have been saying this is the "end of something" it's difficult to say if this will be the start of a new trilogy at all
  19. The video for Strawberry Swing is absolute perfection <3 the Viva era didn't really have a "bad" video imho. Same for ARoBttH--the "worst" one there is IMP and even that one isn't bad. X&Y had some pretty good videos also--mainly Speed of Sound and Talk, with Fix You getting a nod as well. The Parachutes videos were a little strange :P I agree about the videos for the last two eras, though. In my opinion, the only somewhat-good ones are ETiaW and Midnight and maaaaybe Paradise. Ink is kinda cool too, I suppose. It's interesting that the quality/likeability of each era's videos follow the general view toward the eras as a whole (at least for the last three albums).
  20. "But my heart is beating and my pulses start / Cathedrals in my heart" “Clearly I remember / From the windows they were watching / While we froze down below” Hrm . . . the ETiaW lyrics are talking about the initial excitement building as a new era dawns? And then the Violet Hill lyrics are talking about the agonizing wait between various pieces of news? I got nothin' :P
  21. ^ Especially since that would give them an excuse to write a really dark, edgy song :awesome: Like Lorde's "Everybody Wants to Rule the World"
  22. A+ gif usage, would approve of this Darkest Timeline scenario
  23. I figured since it "only" had three new exclusive songs, that was intentional :P
