  1. Definitely... has a bit of grit to it, like Politik or GPASUYF
  2. Interesting, will have to listen for this more next time through... Of course lyrically you find a similar thing with roses, teardrops, rain, fly etc repeated across different songs. Would be interesting to go into that in more detail some time on another thread...
  3. Great Us Against the World Major Minus ETIAW Charlie Brown Hurts Like Heaven Up in Flames Good Paradise Princess of China UFO DLIBYH Up With the Birds OK (basically, musical interludes) MX MMIX A Hopeful Transmission
  4. Not literally tears but some very moving moments.. some up, some down, some both at the same time... Charlie Brown (we'll be glowing in the dark) Us Against the World (whole song but several spots stand out especially the bit with erodes us/see roses) ETIAW (maybe I'm in the gap between the two trapezes) Major Minus (crocodiles ticking... you can hear them climbing the stairs) Up in Flames (whole song) Up With the Birds (good things are coming our way) and so on...

Hurts Like Heaven 13. Cemeteries of London 14. Charlie Brown Parachutes - 2 AROBTTH - 3 X&Y - 1 VLV - 3 MX - 5
  6. ..and lift off before trouble just erodes us in the rain, just erodes us in the rain, just erodes us and see roses in the rain
  7. I think Princess of China is out on 25th October as a single? Anyway the borrowing from her song - intentional or not - seems pretty clear to me but surely by now they have a kitty of money set aside just in case for out of court settlements! And this lady will get enough out of the whole thing to buy a castle and become Princess of Vietnam if she wants!

Having listened to this one for about a day now, I find the moment where he repeats "erodes us in the rain" and then transforms it into "and see roses in the rain" is just fantastic - great lyrics on this one though still not quite sure in what sense a Daniel in a lion's den is drunk...
  9. One of the standout tracks for me.
  10. Us Against the World has that something special for me. So many good tracks though!
  11. My personal rating of recent songs from the 2 bands 1. Lotus Flower 2. Codex 3. Major Minus 4. Moving to Mars 5. ETIAW 6. Bloom 7. Separator 8. Give up the Ghost 9. The Butcher 10. Supercollider 11. Paradise 12. Morning Mr Magpie A bit hard really as the two bands are now so different, glad we don't have to choose one or the other! I expect some more MX songs up there once the whole album is released - still hold high hopes!
  12. It's good, a nice song. I think we will be hearing it quite a bit in future one way or another - just a matter of time till it appears on a movie soundtrack or something like that.
  13. ETIAW is well ahead for me. Just gives you a real lift. Both songs will rock the stadiums which is obviously part of what they're after.
  14. 7 - grows on you, listen a few times before you make up your mind. Sounds very boring and middle of the road on first listen but there is a bit more to the song. The para-para reminds me of Chris' friend Rihanna's annoying umbrella-ella-ella. Obviously will work well as a stadium rocker with the clapping and who-o-oahs already built in.
  15. Double post please remove
  16. Like the way they've come back to the theme of paranoia and they're watching you and reminds me a bit of "Spies" which I really like. Very nicely done, one of my favourites and I gave it a 10.
  17. This song is so X&Y but that's OK as I like bits of that album... 9/10. Reminds me a bit of ELO too as does X&Y. The low voice at the beginning is annoying though...
  18. :) This song is so UP it's fantastic. Perhaps it is affecting people in a similar way to one of those annoying guys who walks into the room when you're feeling down and says "Cheer up, it can't be that bad". I know that doesn't always work :)
  19. Music has moved on, we can't expect another "Funeral" (The Suburbs) or another "Kid A" (In Rainbows, The King of Limbs) or another "Parachutes" or "A Rush of Blood to the Head". I think we can expect something uplifting and life-affirming that builds on Viva. And it may echo some of the sound and heart of their earlier albums.
  20. You've got to give it to them they know how to knock out stadium rockers... love this song - new Coldplay material always gives me a lift and this one surely did! I'm sure the whole album won't be like this though.
