[5-Aug-2011] Coldplay @ Lollapalooza Festival, Chicago
Wow the crowd were fantastic during the Scientist, only beaten by the Werchter crowd. :smug::P ^Thanks, well I thought it would be someone like that...

[5-Aug-2011] Coldplay @ Lollapalooza Festival, Chicago
Watching bits of the recorded livestream I found entirely on Youtube. They really seemed in great form. But when I look at the crowd, I feel sorry for some people who record the entire show. Why don't they just enjoy it? Not just here though, I see that everywhere. Also, big  at the Sarah Palin joke in the introduction of Us Against the World. Who was that guy he was talking about then?

The Sixth Week Begins...
Hey, I really didn't know that!

Is Charlie Brown THE BEST Coldplay song...EVER??
Yeah, I noticed that three. Maybe Chris was a bit confused, because Life Is For Living has been after Charlie Brown since Rock Am Ring. And because of the jetlag  On the topic title, no, but I do like it a lot. ^Their worldwide big hits were not their best songs at all, in my opinion.

The Sixth Week Begins...
I wondered that too, but I looked it up. It's a character from 24 who apparently died. Jack Bauer is also a main character from 24.

The Sixth Week Begins...
Sorry, I didn't mean to make your head explode of anything. :)

Were you the coldplayer..?
Haha. The only way I can help is by saying it can't be me. I wasn't at Rock Im Park. And I wasn't in the London underground. And I'm not a girl.

The Sixth Week Begins...
That means when they said "six weeks from now" they meant at the start of the seventh week. When I say one week from now I mean next week, and not at the beginning of the first week, because that would be now.

Why not an acoustic and "stripped down" album?
Hey, I actually think the guitar effects in recent live versions make it sound a lot cooler.
-
Why not an acoustic and "stripped down" album?
Yeah, well Chris says Coldplay is limestone rock, as opposed to hard rock. Does anyone know when he said that? During which era? Also, Coldplay say they're very heavy soft rock. :p

I'm with you

Why not an acoustic and "stripped down" album?
Haha that's more like metal, isn't it?

MEGAPOLL! Guess the LP5 tracklisting announcement day! (WINNERS! 9th September: Drew42LP5 and Megalo
Monday's going to be the big announcement day. Their tour will be frozen for longer than a month and in the meantime they're not going to fade away just like that. I can smell victory. :smug: Unless they're going to tease us for a week on Facebook and Twitter. That's very likely too. Also, I think they will announce a new single, don't know why but I think it will be the right time. Charlie Brown, perhaps? It was one of the 2 songs they played on Jimmy Kimmel, next to ETIAW... I could as well be very wrong of course.

Why not an acoustic and "stripped down" album?
You accidentally a verb there. I don't think it's that easy. Coldplay are a prime example of a band that doesn't stick to their genre whatsoever. What is their genre anyway? Yes, they're moving towards stadium rock in some songs. But that doesn't mean they're a stadium rock band. Parachutes doesn't mean they're an acoustic band (I even doubt that one can call Parachutes an acoustic album ), White Shadows doesn't mean they're U2 and ETIAW doesn't mean they are a boys band. So I guess they just want to make a varied album, try different things. It just happened during the creative process.

How many songs are they not using?
I think a lot of unreleased songs are far from finished. When they say they have 50+ songs, I guess a lot of those are just some riffs and a few lines that will never be used. Or they merge songs, such as School (?) + Death And All His Friends. And maybe 42 is an addition of two parts that used to be separate.

The forgotten track of LP5
You're damn right not anymore :p

The forgotten track of LP5
^That's true. Death And All His Friends is an amazing live song too. But seriously, what's the point in discussing this if we don't even know which songs will be on the next album? Besides, we haven't even heard half of the new album yet. It would be more interesting to discuss the "forgotten song(s)" of VLV. I disagree about Cemeteries Of London. It's one of 4 tracks of that album they still play live regularly. I think it's all about opinion. There is not 1 forgotten song, or 0, or 2, if you know what I mean. It's not that simple.

Question for coldplay fans?
Wow what an old thread but I haven't seen the right answer. The answer is simply yes. For whoever wants to read this, I'll try to explain: The man is moving at a constant speed and so is his walkman, at the same speed (of course this is merely theoretical since nobody can run so fast). So he can hear the music. The sound waves are travelling along, so they can keep up with him. This is only the case if he's using headphones or earplugs, of course. Sound waves from a stationary radio/music player would not be able to keep up. Einstein once deduced that all experiments on a plane moving at a constant speed (doesn't matter how fast, as long as it's a constant speed) yield the exact same results (if the observer is in the plane) as when the same experiments are done down on Earth, while not moving (if the observer is also not moving). This is actually the basis of his relativity theory. So the man and his walkman are in the same reference frame. Everything that's in the same reference frame as the man appears to be functioning normally to him. So, according to relativity, the man and his walkman appear to himself as not moving, but instead the environment is moving in the opposite direction (e.g. when you're hungry and walk towards the frigde, you appear to youself as staying at the same place while the rest of the world moves, and the fridge moves towards you). Wow I'm taking this too far, but I'm bored anyway. I hope I'm being clear.

Who drinks Carlsberg ?
I don't really like beer. Carlsberg and Stella Artois are okay, but I'm not fond of Jupiler, its aftermath is too bitter for me (also 1 of the reasons I don't like beer :p). People awkwardly drinking at parties to get drunk filled me with disgust of alcoholic drinks, but an occasional beer is alright for me.

Also lol'ed when he said "Confettis and that cheap stuff". I've been thinking exactly the same.

'Up In Flames' - A Last Minute Idea
Or M. But we don't know what's going to be on it anyway, so we'll have to wait.

What is your favourite Coldplay song today?
Today it's How You See The World. Listening to it right now. :D

Guy confirms album out end of October (Triple J interview - transcript & MM links in first post)
If they got a Grammy for it in 2030, or never, I don't really care. It should be a great album, that's all. And after hearing Guy, I'm more confident that it will.
