  1. No, MMIX is, according to Venus, a short instrumental track.
  2. Well it has a few short instrumentals and it's under 45 minutes long. So what's the problem? I agree with Odvan by the way, even if it sounds a bit rude. Evolution is good, but not everyone is going to like any evolution at any cost.
  3. Of course they are able to alter their sound and to blend genres. We're talking about Coldplay here. And it's something they should try. But the outcome, from what I've heard so far, just sounds too artificial, too unsubtle to me. Besides, I've been waiting for an album full of subtle, classy songs that genuinely touch me since AROBTTH, and I'm sure they won't deliver that with MX this time. And also, maybe it's them, maybe it's EMI, but the way they're delivering everything, the Rihanna collab, the tacky, poppy singles... Even though they are not talking about it, chart success and straight cash is a necessity here. They have nothing to lose themselves, so of course they should try what they want to try. But some fans, including me, do have something to lose, and have been dealing with disappointment after disappointment since June. But still, I'll wait until I've heard the full album before I make a definitive opinion. The chance that it will be different from what I think now, though, is slinking every minute.
  4. Up-tempo is a word that always reminds me of shitty kitschy Eurovision songs. That's not good. I appreciate the review, but it didn't particularly alter my expectations and it lowered my hopes a bit. Also, please give her the benefit of the doubt. She wrote more about Parapara and ETIAW because she'd had the chance to listen to these songs a lot more times than the other ones. She's only heard the new songs we don't know about only once. Are you expecting a detailed review about that?
  5. Not really. You accidentally a few words.
  6. Are you trying to cause some kind of argument here, because that post seems to be intending to heat up our tempers (not sure if that is actually a correct sentence)
  7. I think we should finish this round first, however long it may take. It wouldn't be fair to let the new songs start with a fair amount of points while some old ones are already gone. But that's just how I think about it.
  8. :sneaky::veryangry2::veryangry2: Grrrrrrrrr..... BARK BARK
  9. Haha! Oh come on. :dozey:
  10. Well, nobody's treating her like a God, some of us just want the ones who treat her like shit to shut up.
  11. Don't think I'll be there... I don't know how I will get there, I don't know who will want to come with me, I already saw them at Werchter this year and I don't like the new material that much anyway.
  12. Haven't thought of that, but yes, very likely actually.
  13. I didn't mean you, go a few pages back and see how rude and greedy some people are.
  14. I don't like Up In Flames (so far, waiting for decent version), not because it sounds like older Coldplay, but because it's trying hard to sound like older Coldplay, and it's nowhere near as good. It's lacking. Unfortunately. So I don't like most of the new songs, but not because they are different, or because they are similar, but because they are not as good. But this thread sucks anyway, I'ma go get me some goat AIDS.
  15. And seriously, how do people expect her to do a spoiler-free review? Wouldn't that be like, no review at all? And please be kind, jeez, she's only doing us a favour. Get your head out of your arse and appreciate the effort you don't even deserve.
  16. Yeah, well for some reason I can't explain "Yoouuuuuu aaaaaare" sounds great to me (plus there's the awesome instrumental that makes up most of the chorus) and Everything's Not Lost is heavenly and puts me in a trance-like state. There's no rule that says I should either love or hate all "repetitiveness". Para-para-paradise cuts the word in pieces and emphasises it, which I don't like. It's not stuttering, for the record. Yooouuu aaaare is fluent. I don't know, I just love that. Sorry. It can't be compared.
  17. Voted no. Sad thing is that with this new direction they are embracing things of which I used to love Coldplay for not embracing them in the past (synths, Rihanna, dull pop beats, cheap hit list material, repetitive and bland lyrics, exaggerated happiness...) and that they are practically ditching things I loved about them (stripped down sound (UATW is just a weak effort trying to recreate that sound, but it's ok), edgy riffs, deep lyrics, moody atmosphere). Yes, change is good. I'm not asking for Parachutes II. Viva La Vida (album, I'm not fond of the song, though it has decent lyrics) was different but after all it was mostly a great album, my second favourite. Or maybe my third, after Parachutes. But change for the sake of it isn't necessarily good. MX hasn't borne anything that I love so far. Only things that I either hate, dislike or slightly like. But what can I do about it, seeing how most people love it. Good thing there is older material and other bands. A Rush Of Blood To The Head makes my every day and The National has everything Coldplay lacks for the moment. I can see your response. No, I won't cry in a corner. Yes, maybe I will put Parachutes on repeat. And a nice day to you, too.
  18. You can find all prices at coldplay.com But I wonder, what's the difference between 40, 60 and 65 euro tickets for Sportpaleis? (except the price, obviously)
  19. I gave it a 4. Which means just not good enough. Especially when you expect Coldplay songs to be at least 8.
  20. I'm not saying it's the first time I see such post here, I'm saying I'd like to understand better what the OP is trying to say.
  21. Tryptophan replied to Mark's topic in M.M.I.X
My guess is a 1:00 or 1:30-ish instrumental track, that end with an ambient outtro which fluently leads into ETIAW. Or the jazz thing. I'd go with the jazz thing.
  22. I might go to Antwerp. But rather unlikely. It's a great and unique opportunity to see them live in a rather small venue. The only problems are getting tickets, which may be tricky (usually sold out in 30 seconds), how I will get there and back, and whom I'm going with. And the songs they'll play that will probably be mostly new, not my taste, and in place of old songs I like better. (I'm sure they'll leave out Shiver, Everything's Not Lost and Life Is For Living for DLIBYH, Paradise and Up In Flames, which may suck.)
