  2. ^ a very worthy 100th post ;)
  3. MX/Hurts Like Heaven -- 9.0 Paradise -- 6.5 Charlie Brown -- 9.0 Us Against the World -- 8.5 MMIX/Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall -- 7.5 Major Minus -- 7.5 UFO -- 9.5 Princess of China -- 8.5 Up In Flames -- 7.0 A Hopeful Transmission/Don't Let It Break Your Heart -- 8.0 Up With the Birds -- 8.0 Mylo Xyloto as a whole -- 8.5 > Paradise really kills the momentum built up from the previous tracks > Up In Flames isn't beautiful enough to pass as a "simple" song and still be brilliant > There is a lack of a "without-a-doubt-standout-song" like Viva la Vida or Fix You. Which in a sense, is a good thing but still. Every album needs that MEGA HIT. And with all due respect to Charlie Brown its just not as universally appealing as Viva la Vida > DLIBYH is very joyful and uplifting, but lacks cohesiveness or any clear direction. As good as it sounds in bits and pieces, it is too all over the place. One thing's for sure: this album is a winner. it exceeded my expectations, which were already high to begin with. This deserves album of the year for sure. C'mon! Adele? hope it doesn't happen!! :fingersx:
  4. still three hours for me! i gonna try to study till then... :fingersx:

  7. I think the song is really unique. I don't think it's mainstream at all. The instrumental is very nice I think. One of the most interesting coldplay songs that they've ever made. It's fresh, it's new. They're not falling back on any old tricks. It's an integral part of the album as well in my opinion. It definitely doesnt flow with up in flames, but that's not a big deal. My favorite part of the song is at the end of the bridge where the synth gets more intense and there is a quick sputter of notes and then breaks into the ooooh oooooh hook. 8.5/10

  12. like an album where the tracklisting is short but most songs are 5-7 minutes a film like yellow submarine. (obviously, what mx was supposed to be) an album like dark side of the moon where a large amount of it is imstrumental. and they have talking in the background. an album like abbey road where there is a bunch of little stories and reoccuring riffs. (polothene pam, her majesty, mean mr mustard) a christmas album ;) :laugh3: an album with songs that are just jam packed with lyrics (Anti-Christ Television Blues, arcade fire) mellow, singer-songwriter (jim croce) so many things they can do. i'm not saying they should completely change to do an album like jim croce, but put a Coldplay spin on it. theres so many ways they can go still, after doing an electronica/pop, worldly/strings, acoustic/dream-pop, raw/rock n roll, synth/spacey
  13. nice review! just curious, in the "help-rubber soul-revolver-sgt pepper" analogy, what progression of Coldplay albums are you referring to? in example, chutes-rush-x and y- viva ?
  14. coldplay seem to be the most relaxed, confident, and happy as they've ever been. which could mean one of two things: 1. They no longer care about what other people think and they are gonna churn out as many quality records as possible. They're meshing so well, why not take advantage of all this chemistry? 2. Or, they simply don't have a chip on their shoulder anymore, so they have less drive and hunger to get back in the studio and make another album. We've heard them say so many times: "We know we're finished when we feel like we're not hungry anymore." and by the way, a solo album by chris would be aw-ful! its the contributions from johnny, will, and guy that bring chris's ideas to life. but do i think this is the end of coldplay? no. they still have so many types of albums yet to be approached...
  15. there isn't a single review on the Japanese iTunes submitted that isn't ***** aren't they so polite:D
  16. new single coming out on June 3 2014: "Every Crap is a Diareaha"
  17. i was gonna only hear HLH and CB as well. but i heard that they experimented with HLH so much that i didn't want to spoil that either and listen to it. so i only listened to CB and loved it! the piano outro is very very good. :D the soft piano and emotional strings mesh so well ;)
  18. c'mon. you know only the first half of that statement is untrue. the general concensus amongst preexisting coldplay fans is that they are pleased
