Two observations from the iTunes track length reveal. 1.) O is a long track (even longer than Yes/Chinese Sleep Chant) plus it had O part 2 on the extended edition. This has to be one of the most important tracks on the album. My most anticipated as of now. 2.) It is second shortest album only beaten by Parachutes (and I am totally fine with 42 min.) A concise, and meaningful album is better than one that drags on.

1. Always In My Head9/10 Classic Coldplay from the very beginning. It almost feels like the band reminding us of their beginnings. Simple lyrics and sound but what grabs me is the snowball build to the falsetto "always in my, always in my..." 2. Midnight8/10 Coldplay's "out of nowhere" song. Midnight is without a doubt the most out of the ordinary Coldplay song and I for one think it sounds phenomenal. It is missing the classic explosion toward the end, but the trance finale is just as powerful (when listening on some serious speakers). Also, best lyrics from any of the Ghost Stories songs as of now. 3. Oceans7/10 Oceans feels like a classic Coldplay song (much like Always In My Head). The simplistic sound really conveys the feeling of being lost and waiting for something you're not sure of. However, my problem with this song (or at least the version we've heard as of now) is that it feels unresolved. It feels like there is something missing from the track, but in it's defense the version we've heard is missing a minute and a half. The studio version is close to 6 minutes and I'm sure it will be good stuff. 4. Magic7/10 Easily the band's funkiest song by a mile. It takes elements from MUSE and classic R&B to create a simplistic love song with flair. Not the best lyrically, but man is it catchy. 5. Another's Arms5/10 Not the biggest fan of this one. It doesn't have very powerful lyrics or that special something that makes a Coldplay song different. It feels like a b-side that tried to sneak it's way onto the album. However, the final bridge/chorus is really moving with Chris harmonizing with the (I believe woman) ghost-ish voice.

I think one of the best things about this track is that it is short but impacting. I would rather have Chris and the band be concise with their songwriting then feel they have to add a solo, or a drum riff, an extra verse, or a memorable hook etc. It reminds me so much of Don't Panic, short and beautiful!

It reminds me of the Rush of Blood era. This is a great thing. A very great thing. It sounds so massive, like a perfect stadium song. If this is the direction LP6 is going count me in!

As of this morning (Jan 24th) Knaan released a new Ep with the song 'Better'. No credit given to Coldplay and as far as i can tell no guest star by Coldplay. However knaan does mention the band in one of the lyrics.

For me it's a solid 9. Everything about it seems so musically perfect. Great melody, fantastic guitar work and it seems like it never stays the same anywhere in the song! I bought tickets the second they hit the general sale! Traveling from Ohio to Chicago to see the city and Coldplay! (Not a bad senior trip if I do say so myself) :D

Although I do kind of grind my teeth at another duet song...I actually listen to K'naan's guest songs like the Keane ones because i want to. Not because its just on the album (like POC). I have faith that whatever Coldplay does with this new tune and with a possible EP that they will make a lot of fans very happy! Just not everybody :\

I'm very excited to hear that we will be seeing (arguably) the best track from MX getting some recognition in the world. However the single edit just isn't the same without the piano ending. For some wild reason it just makes the song for me. It's like 4 minutes of running wild and the last 20 seconds should be the glowing in the dark..
