The whole space theme deleted?
I think it's plausible. A Hopeful Transmission doesn't even need to be spacial themed, it could be like the radio tower for Major Minus Media.

The Tracklisting
No, POC was one of the first songs written in the MX era though along with ETIAW and HLH I think. :) No Viva-era songs were even considered.

The Many Mystery Messages Of Mylo Xyloto
pretty sure it was "cartoon heart" singular.

The Tracklisting
I mean there's not exactly proof, but wasn't it supposed to be Tomorrow/Car Kids? And I'm pretty convinced that golden arrow is a reference to one of the songs.

Am I the only one who disagrees with the MX promotion?
I disagree completely. Some albums are fun to compare live to studio, some are a big surprise upon release, some are a mix... but I like hearing some of these songs early. I wouldn't appreciate Charlie Brown the same way without seeing the enthusiasm that the boys put into it. :)

Why are Radiohead so popular?
It's because of their innovation, just look at the time period that OK Computer and Kid A came out. I mean, I could ask the same about Arctic Monkeys. How come people actually listen to that?

What is your favourite Coldplay song today?
Sparks :)

2011 Albums Worth Listening To
I used to think The Antlers sucked. I'm liking Burst Apart a lot more than Hospice... they work better as musicians rather than poets on it.

2011 Albums Worth Listening To
I can't exactly confirm Oren Lavie... good ol' wikipedia says his official facebook page posted that his new album will be released in "either september or december" but [citation needed]... a press release from some website said he was debuting new songs for them back in late 2010, I can only assume he's putting out his follow-up. I need a sophomore album from that man, The Opposite Side Of The Sea was absolutely outstanding. For those who don't know him: And surely you should know Modest Mouse, Meg... Dashboard? Float On? Missed The Boat? If you know Built To Spill, there's a good chance you'll like Modest Mouse, and vice versa. They've debuted two and a half new songs over the past few months. Maps (AKA James Chapman) is a UK producer/electronic musician. He put out his second Turning The Mind back in 2009, and his first album We Can Create in 2007 (which was nominated for a Mercury prize, I think). Some of his singles such as I Dream Of Crystal, You Don't Know Her Name, Die Happy Die Smiling, and To The Sky have been used in various commercials. He hopes to have an album out this year (and he promised me that I'd be the first to hear some of the new material! :D). Fun stuff, he's one of my favorite electronic musicians, kind of similar to M83 if you know them. If These Trees Could Talk is an Akron-based post-rock (I guess "post-metal" ish according to some, I don't really see it though). They're pretty good, they have an album and an EP and if you ever see any of their vinyl ever at record stores, garage sales, etc., buy it buy it holy god their vinyl goes for so much fucking money. But yeah, they're very atmospheric. I like them. They're trying to get an album out this year, if not early next year. :) White Hinterland is, well, my favorite band actually! I'm their biggest fan and a huge enthusiast. :dazzled: It's a Portland-based duo between Casey Dienel and Shawn Creeden. Casey is a beautiful pianist and she has a wonderful solo album. White Hinterland started off with Phylactery Factory, a jazz-ish piano storytelling album. It only has nine songs but it has a great impact on its listener if you digest these lyrics. While PF is more stripped-down, Shawn Creeden's electronics shine on their second album to date, Kairos. It was my AOTY last year, it's beautiful dream pop with hints of R&B and art rock, a huge step forward. Well they're planning on having an album out this autumn, and hopefully it'll live up to Kairos' greatness. Great Northern is a dream rock duo between the gritty, determined Rachel Stolte and ex-30 Seconds To Mars guitarist Solon Bixler. Now trust me, it's better than it sounds. They create such atmospheric, dreamy indie rock. It's just delectable, I can't get enough of their music. They're working on a darker third record, out maybe in the autumn or early winter. Do Make Say Think is arguably one of the best second-wave post-rock bands. Fronted by Broken Social Scene guitarist Charles Spearin, DMST actually predates BSS and boasts six solid albums. If you know/like Tortoise, you'll eat up DMST like delicious candy. Sorry for the extremely long post... but I think it's better to actually share the music with you all rather than wagging band names around in your faces and flaunting around my hipster victory. :) Enjoy!

I would love it even more if it existed in 320 kbps... I cannot stand itunes bonus content.

2011 Albums Worth Listening To
Haven't listened to it. :surprised: But I agree. Modest Mouse should announce something or tell us something soon. White Hinterland, Great Northern, Oren Lavie, Maps, If These Trees Could Talk, Do Make Say Think... aside from DMST no one notable is releasing soon... Stars and Metric have records coming around the same time next year. Muse has their album... I don't really know much of 2012 releases. But I can say that the rest of 2011 aside from MM and Feist isn't looking terribly important.
-
The importance of Moving to Mars
(mods should probably move this to the MTM topic...) :) That aside, I feel like it reflects the fate of the spacial theme that Coldplay started to develop; its fate as a b-side gets me thinking that A Hopeful Transmission, UFO, Alien Radio or what-have-you won't be included. No UFO/golden arrow on the album cover, nothing. Now I wouldn't say ALL hope is lost. These songs would make for a great EP to follow-up MX. :D Not quite as lengthy as Prospekt's March, but a five or six song EP might be plausible.

Young Galaxy? The Kills? Explosions In The Sky? EMA? All those bands have pretty stellar albums out... Maybe even Feist's new single?

The Many Mystery Messages Of Mylo Xyloto
Right below "the two of us drove" and above "a speeding ghost" there is some magenta like Luminous... does that say "tomorrow" or do I need to get some sleep tonight?

2011 Albums Worth Listening To
Or rather something that's not straight-up modern britpop.
-
Coldplay given up on princess of China?
Clearly, we saw the M, xylobrytes, luminous poem... :) too bad there's no UFO or golden arrow. :\
-
I'm positive PoC will not be left off MX!!
Princess Of China fits in with that same theme expressed in Major Minus, being careful and trying to escape the all-seeing eye or what have you. There's the self-expressionist theme with graffiti, said theme of surveillance, and then that alien/spacial theme. This album is actually going to be pretty interesting.

What score will Pitchfork give Coldplay?
EMA was deserving of its BNM, it's the only lo-fi record that I've heard that sticks.
-
What score will Pitchfork give Coldplay?
I still think that James Blake is the only thing they've reviewed this year that deserves a 9 or over. Bon Iver should have been in the range of 8.5 and Fleet Foxes at 6.5... /opinions

What score will Pitchfork give Coldplay?
What? Helplessness Blues got an 8.8, and THAT is bull.
