They were the only ones that ripped on The Resistance when it came out. They were also quite generous with Kanye last year, a huge beacon for his album.

Pitchfork are most certainly influential. When Arcade Fire put out Funeral back in 2004, pitchfork gave it a 9.7. Merge got so many orders for the album in that week of the review that they needed to take it out of print for a little while and restock heavily.

I just kind of said "eh" and watched it as I got ready for school that morning. I remember feeling especially dirty after having watched it. They need an EP with Staircase, Daily Mail, and I Froze Up. Maybe Skirting On The Surface. I feel like The Present Tense will be on Thom's next solo album.
