It is quite logical if they drop the single before the upcoming shows (I'm not using the rumor as reference though).. Still believe that their teaser/first single embodies the whole album IN general. Yeah, Midnight was totally different but one can't deny that GS did turn out to be an electronic, atmosphere-filled album. The first singles from the trilogy were pretty straightforward. Violet Hill sort of introduced the revolution theme of VLVODAAHF and ETIAW presented the upbeat, colorful MX. Also, the artwork for singles usually gives a clue or idea on what the album art will be. Unless they decided to that "Beyonce" thing of course...

Not surprising... Their previous releases are pop. and if it's true that 8 tracks are finished, I have to say they are very close and a single might really dawn on us next month or so..

I can understand the negative vibes that other Coldplayers feel. However, though Phil Tan (and Stargate if ever) had previously worked with pop stars and rappers I think we should also consider the fact that working with a band is also something that is new for him. That is why I'm eager to hear at least a song from LP7 because we really cannot consider their production (and to some extent, direction) bad unless proven otherwise. Good to hear the album is coming very soon. Stay calm everyone.

That's the very reason why we are all eager here to hear the new stuff. I mean, if Chris had not announced the album's title... well here we are again with what ifs.... we won't anticipate something like this. By the way, I don't mind if they get back to the studio again (whether for finishing touches, mixing or for recording sessions again.) It is the start of the rainy season in our country so I enjoy listening to both Ghost Stories and Parachutes at the moment. The band can take their time. It would be better to have a memorable, good quality album than a half cooked album (just to meet the deadline set by the label).

You know I had a weird experience with this song because it was more of a grower type for me rather than an instant hit. Began to appreciate the song the more I listen to it. That experience is very similar to what I felt about other Radiohead songs. It grows and will infest your mind (just kidding).

If they are not pertaining to the Global Citizen Festival then this is something... could be a good indication that we are still on target for a 2015 release. Btw, nice pic in the studio. I wish they included Will and Guy though

That made me laugh :lol: (especially with their announcement in mind last May). But I guess what the_escapist is trying to say here is that Chris had been away from the studio doing stuffs for the charity he is supporting and that video made it clear that recording is in progress (if not finished). By the way, you had been quiet for a while. I guess you're waiting for facts :)

Yeah, I think August-September is the crucial period (for the first single) if we are expecting a release by November unless they drop the album out of the blue (which is unlikely to happen). They usually release a single or two before the album's release.

Good point though I'm still expecting a late 2015 release at this point. A summer 2016 release would be the latest I think. Festival time

Can we get a bit of information from someone working with their label. I remember before GS was officially announced, we got a hint that a new Coldplay album will be released really soon.

I'm also thinking of that. The band had been so secretive in my opinion which is good. I prefer a surprise release this time around bec. they had revealed too many songs on their past 2 releases (MX [festivals]& GS [Zane Lowe's interview). They could just release a single or two and keep the whole thing before the release.

Yeah I know, it's just possible that they'll include India on the next tour. I hope they include more Asian countries on their tour list.

So Chris is in India... I wonder if the album is nearing completion (if not already complete). Looks like the visit is somehow related to potential show for the next tour.

I agree, though we still have to wait for their official website to resume its usual function (not the timeline).

I hope the band will not opt for an exclusive release this time around like what they did with GS (where the Deluxe Edition is Target Exclusive).

Another side project (after the GOT musical)... It would be better if they'll just focus on making LP7. But I guess they need a break from time to time. Recording could be tedious

Agree. I believe I had mentioned this before here in this thread. I'm really expecting them to go all out on the next album (massive, pop, *collaboration [maybe], stadium-ready album) though I'm not totally ruling out other possibilities.

Yeah, no blogs, no news, not even a single picture in the studio (I remember Roadie 42 blogged about the recording during the MX era. Coldplay also posted a picture of Jonny playing a guitar before the news about GS the following year.) But I think we can expect that the album "will be" much different from GS base on what Mila Furstova said on the interview.
