Happy Birthday MX and I hope everyone is having a fine weekend so far (though there's still no news as of today). I think some already ruled out a 2015 release of the album which is quite possible considering the fact that it's barely two months before we end the year. I say it is still possible but I'm not so sure if they'll do something like what Adele did (Single + Album release after a month). And speaking of Adele, I don't think her highly anticipated album will have an impact on the total sales of AHFoD because they do have a different fan base and target audience. They'll probably clash in the chart's battle (if AHFoD will dropped this year).

I agree that those are great songs but I think that the band prioritized the cohesiveness, style and overall structure of their albums. I love Moving to Mars, I really do! but I just can't imagine the song inside Mylo Xyloto. Same case with Rainy Day and Glass of Water. Sleeping Sun is a song worth mentioning too. Maybe there are a number of great songs which didn't make the cut but we'll never know (esp. from GS-AHFOD era). I hope one day, the band will decide to release them (probably a collector's edition of every album or a B-sides compilation album).

I think AROBTTH should be out of the picture because the 42 minute rule existed after X&Y. And as far as I know, that rule came into existence because X&Y just became too long. That album is great but I think they can still exclude 2 songs from that album to make it more cohesive and less draggy.

:clap: Good news though a bit misinterpreted. I think the album will drop on Q1-Q2 2016.

Even if they are still working on the album, I don't think they are overcooking things. It's highly possible that their experience in India yielded a number of ideas to work on that can be incorporated/infused on the album. Hoping it's another "Clocks-experience". We'll see... @Saket - will wait for your story man. COLDPLAY IS COMING

-Exclusion of some songs that turned B-Sides (For You, Crest of Waves, Sleeping Sun, Things I Don't Understand, Glass of Water (which ended up in Prospekt's March EP), Moving to Mars) -Collaborators/Producers. I know that their team of producers had helped them achieved the sound that they wanted to make but I would like to see them work with a completely different team in terms of production. Don't get me wrong though. Rik and all his friends are very good. It's just that a different team can push the band outside the box again. The band is creative but I do think that they can do better than that. -Some of their lyrics are too cheesy.

Parachutes vs. Strawberry Swing (Single)

It's hard to decipher Coldplay at this point . I mean when they came out to play two festivals, it's true that they wore new outfits, had an Indian-themed set, and debuted a new song... but I think there's something missing. I don't know if they will add more designs on stage when they finally announce the album or what they presented to us is just a form of a tease... can't tell what they're up to right? Maybe it's some sort of a warm up for the upcoming tour... too many possibilities. And yes I would like to add that Chris did say that they no longer care about what people think but I don't think they lost the swagger to create a good album. Maybe they wandered far enough from their alternative rock sound but it doesn't mean that their previous efforts are crap. One might say they won't make another Rush of Blood or Viva or something on that level but I think all their albums had a unique style and appeal. And no, I'm not worried about their sound even if Stargate produced it. I'm much worried about the increasing number of Coldplayers loosing their patience :laugh3:

Great to hear the folowing: * non EDM Track * good piano hook If they did explore the Indian culture, that would be interesting. VLVoDaAHF had Hispanic influences in it and that album was amazing. I'm actually excited about the first single but I also want to hear news about the artwork of AHFoD. Hope they give a hint of it when they drop the single (as their artwork for singles are, most of the time, connected to the album artwork in terms of theme).

+ * The song feels like a mixture of Life is for Living, Always in My Head and Swallowed in the Sea * I was surprised (in a good way) because I expected a dancy tune as we speculated that the album will make us shuffle our feet. But I think if AHFOD is going to be more of a celebratory record then this song will fit in the album. * The bass is really good and I do appreciate the return of Will's drums * It's a feel good song and I think that's an element that we should consider in judging the song. * The melody of the song is gorgeous. Maybe a little bit retro but I do like the song as a whole. * the intro riff is really nice * I know that some were disappointed about the 'whoooo's but for me that singalong moment just improved the song big time (with the audience waving their hand). I think the melody of the "new" song is relaxing. It's hard to judge the tune without hearing the whole thing so I'm saving my review until I hear it in full.

wow, this thread suddenly became "a critic to mx" thread. I don't understand the hate though. It is not their best album, I agree with that but it is not a bad album either. Some might say that the songs were overproduced, so pop-ish, etc. but I think we should also mention the good stuff about it (the colorful clothing, the graffiti artwork, the world tour, Jonny's riffs, Will's ecstatic drums in ETIAW, Xylobands etc...).. oh well.. moving on, let's just go back to AHFoD related stuff :)

I've been gone for a while and was surprised by a huge volume of replies here in this thread even though there's no solid news yet about a single or the album. By the way, is the rumor about the Indian artist doing the AHFOD cover confirmed or just another product of trolling?

Honestly, It feels quite weird seeing the band in new clothes with all those Indian decorations and colorful stuffs and yet what we got was the same good old set of songs. I'm not disappointed though. It's still a good performance but I must say that the crowd is awful.

Nice to see you around again here. You got a lucky break there man... believe me. I always hope the band will somehow include more Asian countries in their tour destinations... or any event that will bring them here. As for the hint about the new album, no pressure brother. You can keep that until we finally hear the whole thing. :)
