PoC video
I think this Music Video is going to be terrible. At first, I was hopeful, but then I looked into the company that tweeted the picture of Chris. HitHat Productions http://www.hihatproductions.com/ On their website, here is what they have worked on: Rihanna - 2012 Brit Awards Lowes Commercial FLO RIDA - Dancing With The Stars Rihanna - British Television Justin Bieber - Dancing With The Stars Mary J. Blige, TeenNick HALO Awards Selena Gomez, European Music Awards Mary J. Blige - Dancing With The Stars None of those have any appeal to me (aside from Lowes, as I shop there sometimes). It's a night and day difference between their respective twitter pages, as Rihanna is mainly tweeting all these pictures, while Coldplay havn't tweeted anything about it. I also have this feeling that Will, Jonny, and Guy are not there. In all these tweets, only Chris Martin is mentioned and nothing about the band. This better not be a Chris Martin-Rihanna only video, as then it will be cringe-worthy to watch. (Pure speculation on my part though, the rest of the band are hopefully involved) I was hoping the video for this would be on location or different locations as the rest of the MX videos have been so far. This one seems to be more of a green-screen video. Similar to the original paradise video with Hype Williams directing. Anyways, we will find out soon. Also, shooting this video doesn't mean that they are releasing PoC now or giving up on CB. They shot CB back in November-December and it got released in February. They are possibly shooting the video now as Coldplay are going to go on tour next month and won't have time to shoot a music video.

Coldplay's Twitter
Anyone notice the new banner on Coldplay's twitter page, promoting Charlie Brown. It's a minor detail, but pretty cool.

Coldplay @ the Olympics? Any one else gutted?
Hold up, wait a minute! On July 27th (Opening Ceremony) they play in Montreal which is in CANADA. Now I know US and Canada are neighbours but we are two different countries. US and UK should be so lucky, that they get so many shows. Coldplay come to Canada once every 3 years it seems. They came to Toronto once last year for a mini-outdoor free concert and I think that covers their entire promo in Canada. (there may have been something else, but I can't recall it) So its not even about the US and UK (and you guys get a fair amount of shows), its about Montreal and them touring Canada once every 3 years. And let's be real, this is the Olympics, not the Grammys, no one really cares about musical performances. This is about the athletes and about sports. About Michael Phelps, and the star of the Olympics, Usain Bolt. All in all, Coldplay playing one or two songs at the opening or closing ceremonies is not that big of a deal. Sincerely, A Canadian.

CB charts
The Midweek Chart Update occurs twice during the week, once on Wednesday and once on Friday. The Wednesday update from March 14th had CB at 33. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/update/singles The Friday update from today (March 16th) was posted on Musicweek and CB has gone up to 25. http://www.musicweek.com/story.asp?sectioncode=1&storycode=1048853&c=1 To access the full charts, you need to sign up etc. I, personally, don't have access to it, but I got it from another forum. http://www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=81511&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=2225 (my bad, should have been more clear on my original post)

Small Reminders/Updates & The Coldplay Messenger (feat. Roadie #42!)
Just when I was beginning to forget that this video ever existed, this interview comes up. Still my favourite song off of MX and imo, one of CP's best songs in their entire catalog.

CB charts
Yeah #38 this week, and all signs point to it being released on March 19th. Hopefully an official announcement from Coldplay comes out this week. Also, in terms of Airplay: 01 02 Gotye feat Kimbra Somebody That I Used To Know 02 01 Emeli Sande Next To Me 03 03 Jessie J Domino 04 04 David Guetta feat Sia Titanium 05 08 Coldplay Charlie Brown 06 05 DJ Fresh feat Rita Ora Hot Right Now 07 06 Olly Murs Dance With Me Tonight 08 07 Kelly Clarkson Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) 09 09 Alyssa Reid feat Jump Smokers Alone Again 10 14 Flo Rida feat Sia Wild Ones All the other songs on the Airplay list are in or near the top 10 in the singles chart. So, in a sense, good news for CB as when it is released officially (digitally) it will move up the charts.

European tour support acts (May/June/August/September 2012)
I agree with you that the average Coldplay listener won't like Frank Ocean's style and to be honest I was surprised when I heard he was their support for the European Tour. In the big scheme of things, he's only doing 10 shows, so even though it is a risk Coldplay is taking, its a small one. I honestly think Frank Ocean got this through Jay-Z as well. He worked with Jay-Z on WTT and I think that relationship helped him to get this spot. This is pure speculation though. Side Note: Aside from Rita Ora, I actually like their support so far, especially Emeli Sande. Her song "Next To Me" is really good. Reminds me of Alicia Keys Fallin' days.

I actually like Frank Ocean. His mixtape Nostalgia, Ultra was really good. I guess it comes down to genre, if you're fan of R&B (R Kelly, The Weeknd) you'll enjoy him. If not, then you won't enjoy the themes of today's R&B (women and sex). But I think it comes down to how much of Coldplay's fanbase has a crossover appeal to R&B. Probably not that much. Rita Ora, she seems forced and pushed. Her latest single is kind of blah, but she's got that Jay-z hook up so it worked out for her.

That was embarrassing
To be honest, what else were they going to play. It is basically a promotional event for the band and the album in front of an audience that aren't necessarily Coldplay fans. VLV - Their most popular song, it had to be played. For the audience, and the American audience watching it was a song that is familiar and even though us, as Coldplay fans (fanatics) are tired of the song, most people watching probably haven't heard the song since 2009. Paradise - This one is obvious too, it was their biggest hit Stateside from MX and it has gone platinum. Most familiar song from the new album. ETIAW - I do agree that CB would've been a better choice, but I kind of understand why they picked it. All of their concerts and festivals this year have ended with ETIAW (and as much as I despise the song, it is a great closer to a set), so in that context it made sense. Chris always runs and jumps during VLV and ETIAW. Though this time he did get lost in the end with the confetti. I thought his voice sounded on par and better than the Grammys but hey, to each their own. As for the clothes, I'm indifferent on that, but again to each their own. True, I agree. They have written better songs, and your friend was probably more influenced from what he just saw. I agree that they have (from what it seems so far) botched the release of CB and its promotion. If the latest blog by R42 is any indication (states that they are off for a month), promo for the album is pretty much done, except for the tour. But in the coming weeks, we will get a clearer picture on the release of CB. In the UK, on a week on week basis, it has sold more than what VLV sold up to the same point. It was the 5th best selling album in the UK in 2011 and it was released in October (The other four albums consisted of 2 Adele albums, Buble's Christmas album and Bruno Mars' album which was released in early 2011). Also, it had a number one song and is on pace to sell at least 5 million copies worldwide, which is great. I'm on the opposite side where I think that the band has actually taken the next logical step in their evolution. That is the transition to world-arena-stadium rockers(I believe fakfak previously mentioned this earlier in this thread). It's great that you posted this, helps for open discussion. I also liked MX save for a few songs (ETIAW, PoC and UIF), but I liked that they tried something new, shows that they don't want to get stuck in a certain box. So it wasn't their best album, but it was still solid overall and I'd rather have a favourite band of mine try new things rather than stick with a certain sound they feel comfortable with.

Coldplay sales Updates
The fall in sales is expected as Paradise is dropping off the charts and Charlie Brown just starting to get promoted/released. If CB becomes a hit, then the album sales should start to increase. Also, CP just posted on twitter that the album is on sale in Europe for the next week, so that should help sales for the following week.

COLDPLAY HAVE STOLEN YET ANOTHER SONG
