The theme? Well... I liked it :P Don't get me wrong, their old stuff was great and I loved it (admittedly more than VLV), but I'm extremely happy they're looking for ways to evolve. The fifth album is only the second album after the trilogy, there could definitely be more to this 'new' Coldplay than we like to think. I think it's perfectly normal for an old(er) fan to be skeptical about the direction a band is going, but I guess I just don't care because I absolutely loved Viva! I sure do hope that doesn't start an argument...

^ They're like two completely different entities. I don't think there can be any comparison. AROBTTH was completely stripped-down, cathartic and visceral. VLV was creative, artistic, and based on a theme.

I kinda think (with MTM and all) that it will be incorporated. This whole album is going to be really interesting...

^ It doesn't take the 'va-voom' out of the release if we haven't heard the best songs yet! :P I think one of the main reasons I'm excited for the album's release is hearing songs I haven't heard before that might be epic (along with the studio versions of the songs I have listened to).

I took a nap and had a dream that the album was coming out in 5 hours. My car and computer broke down and I couldn't find anyone to drive me to Best Buy. It was awful.

I'd just like to point out the synthesizers and backing tracks for Charlie Brown on the JK show. I listened to it again and it kind of turned me off. It sounded a bit tacky. Do you guys hear it?

Well, they gave VLV a good rating (at least for Coldplay... 6.9? right?). In my opinion (from what I've heard) I think LP5 might be better. There's hope for it, but some critics' favorite sport is to bash on Coldplay. I don't think know if much will change. I originally voted on the low score, but I'm beginning to think it might actually be a bit higher now...

Oracle Question: I know you can't talk about it, but this concerns Hurts Like Heaven. With the album being announced and the billboard story, there's a massive thing going around that HLH won't make it to the album. Why?! It seems to be THE song for the album, and ties in with everything that has been promoted so far (running man, graffiti, opening song to the concerts!, etc). It's my (and a lot of others) favorite song so far, and I guess that all I want is for Coldplay to know what a great song they have here, and that it deserves to be on Mylo Xyloto. I know you know nothing of final track listing, and you can't say anything to us; but is there the chance that you can let the boys know that this song deserves everything it can get for the album? Thanks from a lot of fans. Ocracle Replies: I have to say I think it's great that you - and others - are worried that it won't be on the album because you've heard it and love it but trust me, whether it does or doesn't won't matter when the album comes out. You're right I can't say but I will tell you a story. Just before X&Y was finished I heard that Talk was going to be left off. I felt I had to step in so texted Chris. The next thing I knew, it was being mixed and included on the album. Hand on heart I don't know the tracklisting right now but if I did and Hurts Like Heaven wasn't on, I wouldn't text about it. I absolutely LOVE the song but I have faith that this is the album the band wanted to make and want to release so that's good enough for me. That gives me hope it'll be on the album.

No... lol I'm sorry I don't see the similarity :\ . I don't think they sound very much alike. I like very much, though, that Hurts Like Heaven's title is like The Cure's Just Like Heaven. Before you call me captain obvious :P I don't think the title is the only similarity. Both the songs have this awesome New Wave atmosphere about them. The simple bass-drum/snare combo, the glittering guitars, the beat-keeping bass guitar and the synthesizers. Sure they're completely different in their own respective form, but they have that New Wave sound in common! And I think they sound more alike than Coldplay and 'The Boss'. :braces: Compare yourself! Hopefully I'm not the only who sees it. Umm... I'd also like to point out Chris Martin doesn't look AT ALL like Robert Smith. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't leave something as awesome as PoC off the album! It's too awesome :P But who knows, I can't predict the future. As for Up In Flames, I'm also pretty sure that one will be on the album too. Chris talked about how much he need a song like that to make the album feel 'complete'... but then again I can't predict the future. As long as they're released I'm fine! :)

Agree. By the way, I would be extremely turned off if a song title named 'Sex & Violence' was the sound of Chris Martin taking a dump... that's the last thing I'd ever expect.

~~~~~~~~~To the people who are unaware please disregard this whole thing~~~~~~~~ I don't know who this Mark is... and I'm guessing I'm not supposed to. I don't want to beat a dead horse and I was hoping I'd never have to say this because I'm going to look like I'm insane, but it looks like I need to set things straight: I really don't want to be considered the asshole (which I probably am now). I think I chose to argue with the wrong person and I said things that weren't right. I don't know whether what I said was wrong but that's probably because I have pent-up passion. I have been a really big Coldplay fan for a long time and they've been a big part of my life since I was 8 (back in 2002). The music has helped me get through a lot. I've never had anyone to share Coldplay with because my friends and family don't like Coldplay. When I figured out there was this forum, I was glad to share my energy! I mean... I've had this account for what feels like only three days and I've already spent most my time on it since the album stuff came out... The last thing I want to do is get set on the wrong path with anyone, because I really love Coldplay and I want to be able to share that. I'm sincerely sorry for anything I've said, you can probably double-post everything if you want... but I really didn't mean to come off as a lunatic. Again, I'm really sorry.

Oh... well I thought you meant if I searched the forum I'd find Coldplay haters. That's what I thought was sad. :P
