I think it was said here under 'First Reference' on WikiColdplay (http://www.wikicoldplay.com/Every_Teardrop_Is_A_Waterfall) that ETIAW would likely 'be an album closer'. That's where I got that from. Who knows, they could add something like The Escapist to the end of Every Teardrop. I'm just thinking of the way the album might progress, so it's all speculation. Here's my way of rationalizing it: Since ETIAW is my least favorite so far (when I say 'least favorite' I don't mean I dislike it. At least I don't want it to come off that way! :() I'm glad it'll be at the end of the album. I'm glad I'll get to hear most of the new stuff before I hear the old stuff. And I must disagree. I think it would end the album right. So I hope it's the album closer.

This is the way I think it'll go: I think the first two songs need to be upbeat and happy, the next three need to be the baddies, then Charlie Brown gets sentimental and transitions into the tearjerker. After that the album should end with happier songs to change the direction again. Like jc90 said, Will was dismissed in the early, early days. Chris started going to a local bar to mope around and then later on begged for Will to come back. It was on a 60 minutes interview.

I hope for a Fix You or Scientist. Maybe Willie Nelson could be doing a cover of it someday.

Princess of China is awesome! I can't really can't hear the lyrics though, but the song otherwise is AMAZING! (It's my favorite one of the new songs so far).

^ I agree. Major Minus lacks the edge for me because it doesn't have any loudness. It's not... I guess I could say 'badass'. The drums keep a spineless and subdued beat and don't compliment any of Jonny's awesome guitar work. It seems like Coldplay quells their visceral emotions by hiding behind effects and extra production. I'm not trying to say it's a bad song. I think it's fun! But I'm just feel like it doesn't have that edge. May I say that in the live version when Jonny's guitar solo is about to start at the end, Chris's build up at 3:35 with the "AHHHHHHHHHHHHH" makes my hair stand on end. Barely worth a plagiarism lawsuit. The note progression is similar in parts like "do you ever get the feeling that you're missing the mark" (HLH) and "with a face like a dad and a laughable stand" (LCD), but it's... honestly it's not noticeable for me. I'm not just saying that. Now listen to "If I Could Fly" and "Viva La Vida"-- holy crap they sound alike. I can see why there was a lawsuit. But with this, there's not so much similarity! I recognize just that falling note sequence which- truthfully- is justifiably ubiquitous. It's an easy note progression any artist wouldn't have trouble making up (and Hurts Like Heaven seems to center around that note sequence whereas All My Friends' song structure doesn't). The Viva La Vida lawsuit was much, much, much, much, much more valid in comparison.

If Coldplay played the Olympics, my life would be complete! I thought they should've played in Beijing. Life In Technicolor (instrumental) fits the aesthetic to me :P
