Paradise Listening Party - 7:50 A.M UK Time (Real time CHATROOM embedded in first post!)
Indeed, right with you. You can imagine how excited I was about the EP. Man, I couldn't sleep a wink that night.

The Tracklisting
Meh, why not? I'll be like all the rest of the people who's posts get skimmed over because they all look the same, and are probably equally as wrong. Here's what I think is plausible: 1. Mylo Xyloto / Hurts Like Heaven 2. Princess of China (Spanish Rain B-Side) 3. Major Minus 4. Charlie Brown 5. DLIBYH 6. Car Kids 7. Us Against The World 8. Up In Flames 9. Paradise 10. Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (U.F.O B-Side)

Ipod Broken ;~;
At least your iPod didn't go around and around and around for a joyride in my washer.... Poor iPod Shuffle. Never stood a chance.

It probably isn't even a 50, but once I saw it I never un-saw it. :P

I don't even know if I believe it myself but it's fun to speculate. Also, take a close look at this artwork. Am I the only one that sees "50"? That's something that drives me nuts every time I look at that artwork. I don't even see the title anymore. :P

You just gave me an idea. Okay everyone, maybe I've completely gone off the deep end here. If I have, I'm sure there will be some of you who don't mind telling me so. :P Here's my theory anyway. The overall plan for MX has been to release here a little and there a little for commercial purposes. I have always thought that ETIAW was more of a rally song to get the Coldplay name back out there and on the radio, and you have to admit, it's a catchy and upbeat song that can really brighten the mood. Paradise is considered to be the theme setter of the album, and it's getting aired for the first time Monday. And all the kids they danced, all the kids all night. Until Monday morning feels another life. I turn the music up, I'm on a roll this time. And heaven is in sight. Paradise could easily mean a heaven reference. If it is, those lyrics just got a little bit suspicious to me. ETIAW seems to be the song that said, "Wake up everyone, our next album is just around the corner". So how insane have I gone?

Favorite Catchphrase
It isn't so much having to know every little thing. This is all part of the overall theme of the album. Besides, I have no doubt that they notice this stuff. I like to write poetry, and I immediately know when I've found a catchphrase that I like to use. There's no doubt Coldplay didn't realize they had used "Now my feet won't touch the ground" three times last go around.

Favorite Catchphrase
Similar to having the three track names that begin with L on the VLV album, and now 3 that start with U on MX, I also noticed something about the VLV album that looks like it may be carrying over into MX. Strawberry Swing, Life In Technicolor ii, and Now My Feet Won't Touch The Ground, all use the phrase "Now my feet won't touch the ground". Is it possible that they are doing the same thing on MX except now with the phrase "Us against the world"?

DLIBYH
How could I forget Life In Technicolor? Yeah, now that's an awesome title.

5 to go. It'll be here in no time.

Viva La Vida is a great example. I remember one time after it was played on the radio the DJ said something along the lines of, "Doesn't it bug you that they never actually say Viva La Vida in the song?", and my expression was an immediate and resounding No. It's about time a band actually thinks of a clever name instead of picking the most used line in the chorus. I love the name Hurts Like Heaven. I think it's plenty clever enough. Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall isn't BAD, but it isn't great either. I think the best named song so far is Major Minus.
-
Mylo Xyloto: Will you have a listening party?
When I buy it, I'm going to play it in the truck on the way home. If someone is with me at the time, they'll just have to deal with it. :D Oh I so hope that MX is first on the track. What better sound could you possibly want? :P

Paradise and 9/11
If Paradise is a heaven reference like I think it is, then some people may draw some comfort from it, so you can look at this both ways. I don't think however that it means anything. They're a British band, and it happened 10 years ago. If they wanted to do a tribute they probably would have on the VLV album.

DLIBYH
Yes it is. It may be a good song, but it's a terrible name. Again, what's wrong with 43? I would much rather a nonsensical number as the title just to be a bit more creative, but now I feel like I'm reading a David Archuleta tracklist.

Roadie Update!!! - Up in Flames and DLIBYH make the cut
I personally think Don't Let It Break Your Heart is a sucky name, if that's actually it. What's wrong with 43?

Are those the actual lyrics?

If You Had To Choose
Wow, 170 votes. Awesome outcome. I voted Princess of China, and here's why. We already have several great live performances of Charlie Brown floating around the internet, but nothing good for Princess of China. That's why I'd rather hear a studio version of it than Charlie Brown if I had to choose one. I can go and get a live version of Charlie Brown any time. As far as the songs themselves, I like them both a lot. Don't know if I could put one over the other.
-
If You Had To Choose
This may seem like a really stupid thread, but I've seen a lot of support for both Charlie Brown and Princess of China, so my question is, if you had to pick just one of them to be on the album, and never hear a studio version of the other, which would you choose?

Can't wait. I'm sure it'll be at 200 plays on my iPod in no time. As for what has been said about the chorus thing, I agree with Coldplay on this one. I love the fact that the chorus isn't as pronounced, or even existent. It's a great way to differ from other generic pop bands. Besides, MM does have a chorus, it's just super short and simple.
-
Disappointment
We already have that. It's called Hurts Like Heaven.
-
New Outfits??
I think what you see is what you get, and I do like the outfits quite a lot actually. I am all for bands having outfits. There's just a unifying theme about it that I appreciate. Chris better not totally get rid of that yellow G-Shock watch, that thing is just awesome.

I don't think every mylo is a xyloto...
Mylo Xyloto is like Coldplay's own version of Herpy Derp. It can mean whatever you want it to mean, wherever you want it to mean.
-
Disappointment
Yeah it won't kill me or anything, I like ETIAW, but I definitely don't think it's their best work. MM is simply brilliant in it's own simplicity.
-
Disappointment
Yeah, that was a really whiney rant, of pure opinion and nothing more, obviously. Clocks and Got Put A Smile Upon Your Face are good, but other than that I don't care for AROBTTH. Those jingly bells and kiddish graffiti may seem utterly stupid to you, but I have never liked Coldplay more than I do now. Not trying to be rude, but I simply couldn't disagree more. Coldplay seems to be truly growing into their own if you ask me, with live performances that just keep getting better and better. The only thing that could disappoint me, is if all the new songs we've heard live, except UATW, are not on the album. I also would have to exclude the ETIAW EP. I don't want any of those three on there, we already have them. :D
