Ghost Stories Target release
Cool okay. I will try and make the titles a little more specific from now on. :)

Ghost Stories Target release
I agree. I don't see Target getting that kind of a special to three Coldplay tracks like that. By the way, it's definitely no big deal but why was my topic title changed? Just curious, it doesn't really make any difference to me. Just took me a sec to find it. :P

Ghost Stories Target release
If this question has already been asked and answered somewhere else I apologize, but I saw this earlier today and was really puzzled by it. On Target's page, http://www.target.com/p/coldplay-ghost-stories-only-at-target/-/A-15261659, you see TARGET EXCLUSIVE three times at the end of the track list. Any idea what that is? I'm really stumped. ----------------- Tracklist: Always In My Head Magic Ink True Love Midnight Another's Arms Oceans A Sky Full Of Stars O All Your Friends Ghost Story O (part 2)

"O" is gonna be my favorite track!
I'm thinking Jonny doing his own rendition of The Great Gig In The Sky. But seriously, 42 was never mentioned in the song, and I don't think the title "O" has any meaning to it either. It'll probably be a normal song that has a pretty outro, which I am cool with. Just hope they use real drums in it.

Ghost Stories, release date: 19 May 2014
I would just like to say, thank you for reminding me of the possibility of B-Sides. I loved how Viva La Vida flowed with B-Sides connecting the tracks seamlessly, and now that I consider the 9 tracks (which originally seemed way too short even if each track is longer) the possibility of B-Sides sounds much more likely. Maybe we'll get another ridiculously awesome Chinese Sleep Chant.

Midnight
Originally I was not at all impressed with this song, but after hearing Magic I realized I should learn to appreciate it. I found myself humming "Leave a light, a light on". Simple as all get out, but it's what I love about Coldplay. Beauty in simplicity. I've come to really enjoy this song, and I hope there's some similar sounding stuff on the album. The only gripe I have is that there was no "umph" to the song at all. The beat picked up for a few seconds but then died back down prematurely, like it was leading up to something great but then settled back down. I gave the song a 7. I enjoy it, but it isn't any where near the quality of their other hits.

Magic
It's true that 2:33 and on gives me some hope, but even as much as I've listened to it and wanted to like it, I'm not digging it very much. That beat boxing drum beat just kills any seriousness to the song and makes it more of a joke to my ears. It's just something my mind can't get past. Jonny is the best part of that song by far. I mean, absolutely hands down. If it weren't for his guitar, it would easily be my least favorite Coldplay song ever. I'm a little baffled honestly. To me, Up In Flames was one of the weakest elements in MX, so as soon as Magic started up I was like "Oh man, really??" The "I don't know I don't know" part is irritating to me because it reminds me of 100+ pop songs. Chris singing like that messes with my head, because they've always been above little quirks like that. Him drawing out "magic" the way he does doesn't bother me as much, but I would agree that it's certainly odd and I think falls right in line with what I mean about the "I don't know".

Magic
I'm glad someone else can relate. I remember when ETIAW hit the radio. The first time I ever heard it I was driving into work, and immediately I felt like the song lacked depth. Catchy riffs, but the name was stupid, and the song was all over the place. At that moment I really was afraid of what Mylo Xyloto would be. Once I heard more, I liked it, and I came to even enjoy ETIAW more, but we seem to be doing about the same thing this go around, except I dislike Magic much more than I ever did ETIAW. I'm hoping that Magic becomes the most unColdplay song on the album that regular radio listeners can enjoy, while I sit over here listening to the rest of the album that's much more of the Coldplay that I like to hear.

Magic
For every person who listens to a song there is a unique opinion of it, so I realize I'm just one in a million here, but I have some real gripes with this song. I love how Coldplay so drastically changes things up with each album, but it was always unique. Now I'm starting to feel like they've made a full transition right into generic pop, which started with Paradise. The way Chris clips the words "you" and "true" in the beginning of the song makes me cringe, and that techno drum line that's reminiscent to Up In Flames is just hard for me to bear. It isn't until 2:33 that I finally feel like it's good ol' Coldplay, which is when Chris goes high and the guitars start to ring in shortly after. Before that, I have to listen to Chris say "and I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't" several times, which really kills me. Even though Coldplay has frequently had some very simple lyrics before, they were always unique and still very catchy, but "I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't" just doesn't cut it for me. Perhaps I'm being too picky, but these guys are my favorites. When their album comes out I drop all else and listen for months. This is what I've been waiting for. I love their look, I love the title "Ghost Stories" a lot, and I'm enjoying their overall theme here, but Magic isn't in any way magical to me at all. I must say, I'm very disappointed so far.

What could it mean?
I think it means "You're wrong, keep guessing!"

How has Paradise done so well?
This is very true, but I wouldn't consider Paradise to be all fluff. It is a simple song with simple lyrics, but there's a lot of beauty in simplicity. It has very defining instruments in it that makes a very full sound. Not some studio electronic effects.

Might be my favorite song from MX
The lyrics make it. When he gets to "So on a concrete canvas under cover of dark." I just perk up. I love the song in every way.

Am I the only one?
I've been listening to this album since the morning it came out, and I like DLIBYH, especially the transition of A Hopeful Transmission, but am I the only one who just can't really get into this song? I find it very lack luster. It's energetic, but the overall tune of the song is non-existent and you can't even hardly hear Chris singing in some parts. I just don't care for it much.

Top 3 Favorite songs?
1. Major Minus 2. Charlie Brown 3. Mylo Xyloto / Hurts Like Heaven

I can't beleive it, Princess of China Flops in the US
I would love for it to bomb, maybe it would say to them, "Hey, don't do that again!" I think Charlie Brown will be like all the rest of the Coldplay songs on the radio. Great reception but then will drop off pretty quickly. Most people who listen to the radio aren't smart enough to like Coldplay. They'd rather hear a cheesy electronic beat where the person sounds like a computer trying to be cool.

Is Charlie Brown THE BEST Coldplay song...EVER??
It may very well be in my top 5, which is saying A LOT, but the best ever? Nah.

PoC video
No. The best video they ever had was Violet Hill, or Lovers In Japan. The Paradise video was funny, but so non-Coldplay, too light-hearted to be meaningful, and did not match the dreamy feel of the song at all. Charlie Brown was terrible! The camera was so all over the place I'm not sure Chris was in it, and I couldn't care less about two people falling in love. I wanted to see the boys bounce around with glowing instruments, which was there, but it was so quick I couldn't enjoy anything. The Princess Of China video is just as bad. It's all over the place, oh, and it has Rihanna in it. I gave it a 0.

Princess of China: Worst Coldplay song ever?
No, it isn't the worst, but then again, I'm not sure it could be considered a Coldplay song. It should be called Princess Of China ft. Chris Martin. You can't hear much of any instruments being played, except the bass (which is hands down the best part of the song), and Rihanna sings almost all of it. When it kicks off with Chris at the beginning, it's incredible. His voice in time with that beat is great, but after that it's crap. I hate the fact that this song is being played on the radio. I can understand the desire to team up with another popular singer in the music industry, but this was clearly a publicity stunt (at least I think so anyway) and it makes them look like all the rest of the generic singers out there being overplayed on the radio.

Mylo Xyloto funny stories.
I called Wal-Mart yesterday to ask when exactly the CD would be hitting the shelves, the guy went and looked, came back and said he'd have them out around 7AM the next morning. This morning off I went, found the guy, and told him who I was. Turned out to be the same guy who sold me my iPod. After telling him he was my favorite Wal-Mart employee ever, we found the CDs in a box. They actually got about 11 of them in. Thought it was a little humorous that I had this guy digging through the box at about 7:30 this morning. :P

HAVE IT!!! (AKA the 'I just got my Mylo Xyloto' thread!)
Got it. Loving it. First impression was amazing. My next year is made.

MYLO XYLOTO LENGTH REVEALED!!!!
No, you've heard 3. Moving to Mars isn't on the album, still, excellent point. Hearing these songs live on YouTube as compared to hearing them in full studio quality while driving down the road are two totally different things. I can't wait to hear HLH on the album.

Is Paradise, or MX as a whole, connected to BTTF?
"When she was just a girl, she expected the world" Doesn't say alien to me.

Why are some people trying so hard to like Paradise?
You know what I find funny? How this one song has caused such an uproar on here. Some of you on here hate it, fine. Some of us love it, fine. Like all music, this song is going to hit every person who hears it a little different than everyone else. I fell in love with it on about the 4th or 5th listen. I then really realized just how smooth and emotional the song was. Those strings really got to me.

Paradise Piano Chords
I'm trying to learn Paradise right now on the piano, and I was wondering if anyone on here would be able to lend me a hand. I'm starting from scratch actually, so any chords for bass line or melody would be appreciated.
