  1. I have a feeling it has more bass than were hearing or it will get a lil boost on the studio version. Edit: Anyone else think Will's drums sound like a heart beat?
  2. Wow... it really had that crushing weight to it, the feeling that you get when you know somethings over. Just wish I could hear the lyrics better I want to hear what Johnny, Will and Guy are singing at the end and the rest of what chris is singing he sounded a bit pitchy, maybe nerves?
  3. Thank god... take me back to yellow
  4. [ame= ] [/ame] Most of it is pretty simple, quieter music.
  5. Billboard: "#Coldplay at #ACL Live taping: "We just handed over our record to our label last week." Premiering "Up in Flames, which sounds like Bon Iver" Hmmm... interesting I guess no synth then considering Bon Iver is kind of like Old Coldplay
  6. "So we saaaaaaaaaaw An innocent riot We'll be glowing in the dark" I can just see this becoming one of those epic sing-along lines at live concerts, then leading right into the piano outro!
  7. He was the logo for the summer concerts they did, you can order a shirt with him on it and the concert dates on the back. http://coldplay.fanfire.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/Store.woa/wa/product?sourceCode=COLWEBUKWGBP&sku=COL52531 If he's tied into any song though its HLH.
  8. I have this weird feeling that the live version of Paradise will make a lot of us scratch our heads and think "Can we get that version for download?". The only song I've liked better in studio so far was Charlie Brown and thats only bits and pieces but you can really hear the guitar more in it, and the piano outro.
  9. http://www.coldplay.com/newsdetail.php?id=783 Live on Youtube, this might be our first chance to hear them and a chance to ease all our worries. If its true we should all be crying too hard to type what we think after Up In Flames.
  10. This is how I picture the first part of the album: Mylo Xyloto: Intro to album/story Hurts Like Heaven: Intro to male lead (Boy with a spray can soul, very edgy self assured) Paradise: Intro to female lead (Girl who dreamed of paradise despite oppression, very unsure of self) Charlie Brown: Boy (HLH) goes to meet girl (Paradise) realizes his own short comings Us Against the World: Boy and girl meet, vow that though they are different they will be together M.M.I.X.: Yeah... no idea, going by relationship standard this song would be where they have sex so.... yeah ETIAW: The happy celebration that they are together, time passes with them together and they lived happily ever after.... (Bloody Question Mark)
  11. Haha thanks. Although I don't want to force you to listen to Major Minus (Personally I like it) I was just trying to figure out what I thought was a weird transition. I feel like this entire story for MX is basically a modern 1984 with some space elements. I actually think Paradise would fit between ETIAW and MM perfectly. I think each of these new songs was written with a "character" in mind which is something we're not used to with Coldplay. For paradise you have to a girl who has dreamt of something more in life, and having recently fallen in love she is wondering if this is it while at the same time being so nervous that is could all fall apart because of a problematic past.
  12. Very good, well thought out post. I think that the lyrics are so few and far between that I never really looked for any meaning beyond it being a happy song. Some of the lyrics are actually really apprehensive and foreboding, overall its kind of an uneasy tale foreshadowing things to come (Major Minus and the dark side). I know its a stretch, and probably giving Coldplay too much credit but maybe this song is mean to make some people feel uneasy about it fitting into the overall story, while still appealing to the masses. Its funny I've been trying to make sense of the ETIAW to MM transition and always imagine it as a happy couple celebrating at the end of ETIAW then pan out to a group of men in black suits watching them through a security camera at the start of MM.
  13. Atleast we still have Charlie Brown, Us Against the World and Hurts Like Heaven that we know are on the album and know are pretty damn good... hell we have the studio version (Partly) of Charlie Brown and I think that it will be the song taken away from this era. Now we should be hearing Up in Flames and Don't Let It Break Your Heart pretty soon too. UiF is Chris' baby so if that bad then its a really bad sign, DLIBYH is a total mystery so we'll have to see. I do agree though that as singles they were poorly picked, or picked to garner fan base/ popularity. They are not bad songs... just poor coldplay songs. Had they just been songs on the album it would not have been a big deal... They should have just picked Charlie Brown... Edit: Really this is two meh songs out of 14, we know at least 4 out of the remaining 12 are pretty damn good.
  14. I think that this is the big problem with the song, I like the song (I don't love it) its been stuck in my head all day but I wish well there was more to it. Most of the lyrics that are present are pretty good (Aside from the obvious few) but there just needed to be more lyrics less repetition. Seriously at least one time they should have said something like "Trapped in her mind's eye/ she was para- para- paralyzed"
  15. This exactly! I think she'll come in when he says "We sing" and sing the 100000000 la's with Chris (Seriously I welcome this, I don't feel like listening to Chris sing la over and over and over)... If she sings this part with him and the contrast in voices it just might work. She may also trade off on the last verse with him. If this song becomes big though and they start playing it in concert they will have to have a version w/o Rihanna or she'll have to have a small enough part so they can just play her part.
  16. Your all missing the real culprit here... not Eno, not Gwyneth, not Jay Z, not the Silence secretly manipulating Coldplay to become so bad the it kills the Doctor, the real culprit here is... Apple (The kid not the brand, ok maybe the brand too)
  17. Everyone! Deep breaths in 1.. 2.. 3.. out 1.. 2.. 3... Ok, the article references "female vocals" no where does it call it a duet... this leads be to believe that she'll be singing the "la la la la" part which Im ok with... hell it might make that part less boring.
