  1. And thanks for agreeing with me. Major Minus is so underrated, by far one of my favorites on the record.
  2. Viva was the first album I ever bought, first album I ever listened to. I was musically depraved. I still love that album, but I wish they had just done a double album with the b-sides included. My double album Viva is way better than normal Viva La Vida, and makes a better concept album than MX. :P
  3. MX/Hurts Like Heaven: 10/10 Epic. Best song on the album, great production. I love the auto-tune backing vocals, the guitar riffs, everything. Paradise: 8.5/10 Pretty good song. Great synth strings, great bass work and drum work, but it's lyrics are some of the worst on the album. And, the guitar riff at the end is just boring. Charlie Brown: 9/10 Great song. Fun, upbeat, and I love Chris's voice and the lyrics of this one. All of it's parts are amazing, and the piano at the end is beautiful. Us Against the World: 9/10 The best of the slower songs on the album. Just plain beautiful. M.M.I.X./Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall: 6.5/10 M.M.I.X. provides epic buildup, the Every Teardrop is still...Every Teardrop. I'm sorry, I just can't take the song seriously. The synth is fun, but the acoustic guitar is to much. It's not layered, it's cluttered. Major Minus: 9.5/10 Criminally underrated. Wish it had the guitar part after the first chorus from the live version, but it's still great, and the bass, guitar, and drums are all top notch. It's Coldplay firing all their guns at once. U.F.O.: 8/10 Pretty, great lyrics, love how the MX melody comes in. However, it's no Don't Panic. The melody is to tacky and forced to ever reach that height of awesome. Princess of China: 7.5/10 Great synth, great drums and bass. Love the vocals. It's just that the structure is weird, and the production is tacky and cluttered. They didn't need all those weird flourishes they added, such as the things that sound like harps, that tacky piano part. It's just seems cheap. Up In Flames: 7/10 Pretty, and has grown on me. The drum's, contrary to most people's opinions, are amazing. They add this steady coolness to it. The piano and mix of orchestration is great. But in the end, the song is just that: pretty. It's lyrics are average. The melody is average. It's TOO simple. A Hopeful Transmission/Don't Let It Break Your Heart: 8.5/10 Don't Let it Break Your Heart is amazing, it's just too short. It needed more, to push it farther. AHT is pretty, a great reprise of the MX theme. Up With the Birds: 10/10 Just god damn beautiful. Amsterdam meets Death and All His Friends. The lyrics are just plain great, like the best poetry. The two parts are equally awesome. Again, like Don't Let It Break Your Heart, it could be longer, but this song doesn't suffer as much as that song because of it's length. A great album. I'm sad to see that so many people seem to dislike it. :\
  4. Well written and right on all points. It's why I like Mylo Xyloto and Viva La Vida so much. They're subtly changing themselves with each release, and I think the next one will be their Kid A, a radical departure from the first three albums; but we won't notice, because they've just been subtly changing with each album.
  5. Not bothering with the instrumentals: AMAZING: Hurts Like Heaven Charlie Brown Major Minus Up With the Birds GREAT: Don't Let It Break Your Heart (If only it was longer) Paradise Princess of China Us Against the World U.F.O. Moving to Mars AVERAGE: Up In Flames Every Teardrop is a Waterfall Nothing bad on the album, imo.
  6. The review was wrong though. The album isn't constructed in Pro Tools. He is implying this is pop electronic stuff with that statement. Funny how they gave The King of Limbs a great review when that was also overproduced (it had to be, it was purely a studio creation). What is the problem people have with working with electronics to make albums?
  7. Parachutes: 8 Rush: 9 X&Y: 6 Viva: 9 (10 when I do my Double album version of it) MX: 9
  8. Honestly anyone who didn't vote for M.M.I.X. is an idiot. Those short instrumentals are better than ACTUAL FULL LENGTH SONGS? ARE YOU PEOPLE NUTS?! And if any song sucks, it's Up In Flames. :dozey:
  9. It's not better than A Whisper? :P
  10. Hurts Like Heaven is the best thing they've ever done. There, I said it.
  11. Compared to most people I though TKoL was a 10/10. And anyone who thinks In Rainbows is average or bad is a complete idiot, imo. :P That album was emotionally and lyrically astounding.
  12. Actually, that review for TKoL was crap. I love that album, and I disagree with your statement. It's the first Radiohead album they hated on.
  13. My extended VLV album was: Part 1: Life in Technicolor Cemeteries of London Lost! 42 Lovers In Japan Glass of Water The Goldrush Yes / Chinese Sleep Chant Life In Techincolor ii Part 2: Postcards From Far Away Rainy Day Viva La Vida Violet Hill Prospekt's March Reign of Love Strawberry Swing Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground Death and all His Friends / The Escapist
  14. 1. Mylo Xyloto 2. Hurts Like Heaven 3. Charlie Brown (though I call it Cartoon Hearts, cus I prefer that name. I put it here cus it keeps up the momentum from HLH, which I thought Paradise interrupted) 4. Paradise 5. Us Against the World 6. Major Minus 7. M.M.I.X. 8. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall (now it's literally the centerpiece) 9. U.F.O. 10. Princess of China 11. Up in Flames 12. Moving to Mars (Fits so well here, one last dose of melancholy before the album's resolution, and the quiet at the end goes into AHT much better than UiF's abrupt ending did) 13. A Hopeful Transmission 14. Don't Let it Break Your Heart 15. Up With the Birds
  15. That's about revising the track list. This topic is about the track listing in general. I just decided to include my track listing in the OP. :P Semantics I know. :smug:
  16. Are there any problems with it, in your opinions? For me, the ETIAW -> Major Minus -> U.F.O. area was just bad. Along with HLH -> Paradise -> Charlie Brown, and UiF -> AHT. So, I fixed it. Moving to Mars (Fits so well here, one last does of melancholy before the album's resolution, and the quiet at the end goes into AHT much better than UiF's abrupt ending did) 13. A Hopeful Transmission 14. Don't Let it Break Your Heart 15. Up With the Birds EDIT: One last note. I increased the bass on the whole album.
  17. I think the joke is that they rated X&Y so highly and this one so low. Everyone piled tons of love on X&Y. And I don't understand why. It's so boring. Whiny, flat, just bad.
  18. NME is a shit newspaper. They just love to hate on British bands that aren't britpop, such as Radiohead and Coldplay, who they have been flaming for the whole year.
  19. Coldplay is anything but electronic music, and to imply that this album is electronica or something like that is what a 10 year old would do.
  20. Mylo Xyloto/Hurts Like Heaven A Hopeful Transmission/Don't Let It Break Your Heart Up With The Birds Charlie Brown Princess of China Us Against the World Major Minus U.F.O. Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall/Paradise (Tie) Up In Flames
  21. I love Major Minus, it just needs to be someplace else, maybe right after Us Against the World?
  22. Honestly they had to make it longer. Like 5 minutes With an epic guitar solo. And it would have been Coldplay's best song.
  23. In between Up in Flames and A Hopeful Transmission. Works thematically, works sound wise, Moving to Mars "closes" the last part of the album before the finale, where everything is resolved.
  24. My 2nd Review: God damn this is great and I'm completely obsessed. The only problems on the album are Paradise (which I don't think fits), Up In Flames (one of the worst songs by Coldplay post-X&Y), and the fact that I still don't quite get the concept, not really. Also, on further thought, I don't like how Major Minus is the only dark song on the record; it needs a buddy. Cus, right now, it's kinda weird to hear right after ETIAW. 1. Viva La Vida 2. Mylo Xyloto / A Rush of Blood to the Head 3. Parachutes 4. X&Y :\ EDIT: Also, the best things about this album: Mylo Xyloto + Hurts Like Heaven is the best thing Coldplay has ever done. U.F.O. -> Princess of China is an amazing transition. Every Teardrop has grown on me because of it's placement. The mix of electric, hook ridden pop-rock songs with sweet acoustic numbers works magic on my ears. The finale of A Hopeful Transmission -> Don't Let it Break Your Heart -> Up With the Birds is the best ending to a Coldplay record. (However, Up With the Birds is not the best closer)
  25. Everything should be kept the same, cept for the addition of Moving to Mars in between Up in Flames and A Hopeful Transmission.
